Yeah I get that, I think the problem is, If you are already getting keyboard marks on the screen, if you then add another layer on that screen it will increase the pressure on the screen more, I normally wouldn't advise screen protectors for that reason.
Just wondering, have you ever tried to put a hard case a keyboard cover a screen protector on your computer because I have and I don’t have any problems with my computer. you do realize a lot of times also when you overuse a MacBook over time you’re gonna get those lines in your screen And the whole top half of the computer still has to be replaced anyway it happened to a friend of mine and he didn’t even have a case on his it’s just from wear and tear on the computer. computers get old screens don’t always last that long so a screen protector on a Mac MacBook Air they’re probably pretty thin and it’s to help keep the fingerprints off the screen so you’re not having to constantly clean the screen of your computer all the time. 😊❤
I did use a hard case on my macbook with a keyboard cover, a friend of mine did the same, but the case cracked the sides of his screen (not lines but actual hairline cracks), I think there is always going to be circumstances where people are fine and have no issues but with how expensive macbooks are, It's more of a warning and better to be safe than sorry kind of thing. I did love the look of the case but I am more just worried to use one now as a just in case, I use a protective sleeve instead now 🙂
Yeah in all circumstances a lot of people will be fine I have now had a couple of friends with cracked screens caused by a case, I use to have one on my old macbook but since my friends issues I now personally wouldn't take the risk
Good information. I have had several MacBook screens develop ugly wear spots. Apple even replaced the screen on a MacBook three times before saying that they would not cover this issue under warranty. Every MacBook Pro I’ve owned in the last decade or so has developed this problem to some extent. Therefore I was considering a screen protector when I order a new MacBook Pro in January. Now I’m not so sure. Maybe the screen just wears out after a year or two.
Thank you, yeah I had someone else say the same thing, maybe it's a bit of luck behind the screen issues, I have had my macbook air for 4 years and not one issue with it, so maybe different models suffer more? I think if a screen protected is thin enough not like the tempered glass ones, you could be ok, it depends how far it protrudes from the screen. Thank you for sharing your experience also!
@@sunnykapoor4153 do you mean like the adhesive wraps, like you put on your cars? I have seen people use these and haven't seen any negative of using them, I think they are thin enough to not effect the lid closing like a plastic clip on case, I have seen screens being damaged with the plastic clip on cases etc but haven't seen anything with the wrap skins.
@@sunnykapoor4153 screen protector I have heard bad things, as the screen protector when removed can also take off someof the protective layering on the screen, palm rest skins again I think have been fine
Based off a mbp 2011 I bought with everything said except a screen protector on it, worse I can say is the keyboard cover made the keyboard VERY sticky, otherwise no issues all around
That is fair enough, I think a lot of people are ok and have no issues, It is more of a safe than sorry point as the very unlucky situations have happened, one even to a friend of mine!
not the new design case.. it doesn't hold on tight and does not overlap to the led screen. I bought the MacBook Pro M4 Pro chip 16 inches.. I paid 2499 and I bought a case.It is beautifully made. You also can buy Apple care+. I would always put a case regardless.
I haven't seen the new design, not where it doesn't clip round the screen, so if its out there than fair enough it coukd be ok, especially with AppleCare+ as it will cover accidental damage if the screen was to crack
Isn't there a substantial difference in screen thickness in your MacBook Air that your showing and the MacBook Pro models and I think Apple would not be selling these cases on their website if they had issues with possible damage ? IMHO
It's not the thickness of the screen itself but the gap between the screen and the keyboard base when it's closed, putting items in between that causes pressure on the screen, this is more directed at the cheap clip cases where the clips hug round the screen, the cases on Apple do not have these clips, however Me personally wouldn't risk it, I had a friend use a case and it causes hairline cracks on his screen, of course again if you have AppleCare+ it would be covered but still not worth the hassle. I now just use a really good protective sleeve.
How about a screen protector? Tired of keyboard marks on the screen.

Totally agree with you. I use a sleeve to protect my MacBook .
Yeah, mine goes into a sleeve, or if I am taking it out, it goes into a lined carry case
This is a good and very informative video. Awesome job!
@@Ryuuie thank you!

I had screen protector, keyboard cover, top and bottom hard shell on my 2015 MacBook Pro and never had an issue. Still going strong. 😂

top lid skin
back skin
palmrest skin trakpad ski

@techtalkdad can we use thin plastic film on screen (not tempered glass)?
and can we use wraps on palm rest area?

What about the Debrand skins ?
Yeah they are fine, they are not thick enough to cause any issues
Great quality video and info. Thanks man
Thank you mate, appreciate it!
What about D-brand skins ?
They are fine normally, as they are so thin, with the cases it's more the clips that hug round the screen where you have the issues
