It's a very different logic compared to Windows. After years of using Macs my wife still doesn't understand why clicking the red button alone isn't enough, and I don't blame her. It's confusing.
Been a Mac user personally and professionally since the 1980s. Just bought a new used MacBook Pro M1 16 and while waiting for delivery, thought I'd try to learn something. Amazingly I found this helpful. Thanks.
I always try to learn more no matter how experienced I am. This video is obviously aimed at beginners, but I love to hear that it can be helpful to more experienced users as well.
Expecting a Mac to work just like Windows is by far the biggest mistake I’ve seen new Mac users make over the years. It may sound like a little harsh advice on the surface, but if you really want it to be just like Windows….. use Windows. There’s at least one or two major reasons why you chose to switch to a Mac… and if you’re just not willing to embrace it, why put yourself through all that? Either embrace it with an open mind or maybe just go back to what you think you keep thinking you want 😊
0:38 getting MacBook m3 air for Christmas. Is the app not closing when u close window same as if you swipe up on iPad, the app not closed, because when u do that thing where all your open apps show and you swipe up to close, it’s still there? Is it similar to that then?
@ if you swipe up it’s not closed, because if you do the thing where you pause half way through swiping up, it’s still there, showing it’s running in the background
I wouldn't necessarily categorize these things as "mistakes". It's more that MacOS is so foreign to Windows users and one needs to buy a guide or do infinite google searches to learn how to do even the most basic things.
As somebody who recently switched from macOS to windows I just feel like windows is very weird and it’s hard to get used to like the cursor is really fast for some reason
Your completely wrong on no AV. I would use an XDR or something similar silence or something free like wazah just because you’re on a Mac doesn’t mean that you can’t get viruses. This has been a contention for decades at this point Linux can get viruses so can macOS.
@@darylcheshire1618 Correct, Time Machine backs up everything except termporary files and your Trash. It doesn't back up external drives automatically, but you can choose to include those in the backup if you'd like. I've done a couple of complete system restores from Time Machine backups when setting up a new Mac, and it's super easy and convenient.
@ yea.. i felt the battery life is better on sonoma rather than sequoia, and everything seems a bit faster on Sonoma too..i’m using the base model M1 MacBook Air by the way
Good to know. I updated my Mac Studio with no issues but I also have a base model M1 MacBook Air that I haven’t updated yet. Might just keep that on Sonoma for now.
windows since bill gate left microsoft after the release of windows 10 the mess starts with crashes instability of ads bad management of sleep mode for laptops they release a lot of useless devices like windows 365 since they are capable of everything they put us on copilot recall the thing must be illegal we are spied on that's why I use macOS
can you choose? its next year 100% money again. now M1 pro max ultimate everything for 699 would be nice xD, but no! need buy M4 slowest and still ultimate money cost
I think any content creator would be dumb to not to use gen AI for some parts of their content. This video has three AI-generated shots, everything else is created manually.
The tip about relaunching finder when an external drive won’t eject is golden!
Hate how often I need to do that, but it's a great quick fix when you just want to unplug your drive and move on.
I came over from a MS platform and didn’t know about the apps running in the background after closing them. That explains a lot. Thank you!

Big thank you from Sweden, just got my first Macmini M4😉
Heja Sverige! Congrats on the new Mini. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but it looks awesome.
I was going to compliment you on a few of these but, honestly, every one was great. Congratulations!!!
This comment made my day. Thank you!

iPads are different. If you swipe up it’s closed. Mac and iPadOS are very different

Many thanks for your clear explanation!
As a new M4 Mac Mini User it's time to Subscribe:
Very useful and clear explanation. Thank you for your time
Thanks for watching!
What is the best open to for the mac is it either keeping in sleep mode or shutting it down
I keep mine in sleep mode 99% of the time. Unless you're having issues or running software updates, there's no reason to fully shut it down.
Helpful thanks
Nice job 👍👍👍
Reley nice visuals and easy to understand thank you so much ❤❤😂
Glad you liked it!

no these are mistakes, that's fine becuases there 100s of videos explaining MacOS.
90% chance that a new user buying a Mac will take the base model, never know if they don't like it
"cant do that homie" 💀
As somebody who recently switched from macOS to windows I just feel like windows is very weird and it’s hard to get used to like the cursor is really fast for some reason
In Windows settings you can change speed of your cursor (acceleration of it)
What's the difference between Red Dot and Yellow Dot?
Red closes the window. Yellow will “minimize” it into your dock where you can click it to bring it back up.
@quick-tutorials isnt it the same thing, you said that it doesn't fully close
Red will close the window, but it does not close the application.
Should I shutdown my mac
I never worry about shutting it down. Sleep mode is all you need, unless there's bigger software updates that require a full restart.
@ thanks 😊

The biggest mistake: Not having Time Machine backup.
There's two types of people - those who have backups, and those who regret not having them.
I have Time Machine backing to the NAS box, does Time Machine back up everything?
Preumably if you buy a new mac, Time Machine can be restored to it.

Its pretty much as iPad/iPhone is not that hard or confusing lol
And another one, thinking Mac won´t need EPP....
No 12 is me..😢
Luckily the last couple of big releases have been relatively stable. Did you run into unexpected issues?

Noot using it like Windows is probably why I’ll never switch to Mac…
Boomer
buying apple products is the first mistake🤢
Man I’ve made so many mistakes in my life
😂😂
I have regrets when I bought a Mac, but not iPhone and Apple TV. Good thing we can convert this crappy os of Mac to Linux.
