I started out with a D3100 and used it for a couple of years. When I upgraded I gave it to a friend and she loves it, and is learning quickly about photography. I'm planning on getting a D7200 shortly and I'll probably give her my D5200 to replace it, and then the D3100 can teach someone else. It's still an excellent camera to learn on. Pay it forward.
@@margaretsolomon1976 yes, I have the Nikon d3100. It can turn on without a lens mounted. Are you sure the battery is fully charged? If so, your camera may be faulty.
I purchased a D3100 back in 2014 after my son was born. I was & still consider myself a novice photographer. I still use & love my D3100 to take pictures of my kids in place of ordering school photos twice a year.
Just yesterday I picked up a used D3100 and a 70-300mm lens for about $150. Nice deal! It is my first foray into DSLR shooting. I have two Nikon bridge cameras that have taken incredible photos (P510 and P950) so this is a completely new deal for me. I took a few shots that really sucked so I came on here looking for pointers. Your video made me happy I got such a good unit at a really good price. Thanks!
Nice! You picked up the D3100 for a really good deal! The best way to improve is just to keep on using it, that's how I learned. After that, you can edit you photos to make the colors "pop" more too.
Ive been through so much with this camera. Learned SO much too. Im finally upgrading it this year but this camera is amazing for learners and I owe a lot to it. Im finally upgrading it to a D7000 which isn't a new model or anything like that buts its definitely much more complex and complete.
Nice!!! I'm still looking for a D7000. The D7000 is a nice 'upgrade' from the D3100! Especially since you can start using the older Nikon AF-D lenses with the D7000 too.
I was just given a brand new d3100 for free, with an extra zoom lense. it’s my first time with a DSLR and i’m enjoying it so far. thanks for the great video, it helps a lot.
Just got my D3100 a couple days ago and I'm loving it so far, it's my first DSLR. But as you said, Live View Autofocus is a bit unhelpful and slow at time. Much easier to focus through the viewfinder, even with Back Button Autofocus. However, it's definitely a great first camera I'll be enjoying for at least a few years, if not longer..depending on how good I am at photography.
Enjoy it! It's definitely an excellent camera to learn with. I'd definitely suggest getting a lens that fits your style, that way, you'll really see the image quality really improve. Thanks for watching and sharing!
I gave my wife who have no experience using DSLR the D3100 with a 50mm prime lens in 2014 when she went touring Japan , the pictures she took were amazing
I bought it recently "by accident". Was looking for the cheap Nikkor 18-55 lens for my daughter to learn photography on my good old D40. Found a deal online for the lens + D3100 body at the price of the lens itself, so didn't think twice. The body is in mint condition and has only 1500 pictures taken. Took it for a spin last weekend and I'm very happy with picture quality. Great little camera.
I've had my D3100 since 2013. Over 10 years of constant shooting, and taking it wherever I go, it is still my go to camera. Lately I have been taking my photography a little more seriously, and I still don't have any intention on upgrading my camera, only my lenses. Sure the sensor is smaller than what is out today, but considering how intimately I know this camera, I am able to make it work for exactly what I need to do.
I know nothing about photography, but have been kind of interested in it for some time, and have thought about buying a good beginner camera. Problem is I thought they were WAY too expensive for a hobby I might not even enjoy. Although as fate would have it, I found a D3100 with original lens and an extra 55-300mm lens for $120 on facebook marketplace. I asked the seller if I could pick it up asap and drove a little over an hour to pick it up. Now I'm geeking and watching all the videos and reading blog and forums posts on how to even get started:D I'm so excited!
I got the camera from a relative when i was a kid, am coming back to it after 8 years and getting started with photography and creative works. Im exited for what's to come.
I just bought one of these on ebay today. Red one with both VR kit lenses and a Lowepro bag for only $340. For that, this is not a good camera, but an AMAZING one. I got it for my 14 year old stepdaughter for her Photography 2 class. The red should appeal to her; more fashionable than basic black. 14 MP is enough to make a nice 8x10, which is the biggest she'll likely make. A better camera with a full frame sensor and higher resolution would be wasted on her, as they are bigger and heavier; she would leave it at home all the time. Thanks for the nice real-world review.
Thanks!! I wish I started out with the D3100. You're an awesome person for gifting that. Hopefully she can get a decent lens on the D3100 and the image quality will definitely shine.
Just got my D3100 and still learning on how to use it as a hobby. It is easy to shot but I want to learn more. D3100 is really good for starting photography.
It truly is. It's one camera I wish I would have started out with. Once you understand how Shutter Speed, Aperture and ISO all work together, the camera has a lot of potential (depending on what kind of photography you're doing). Take it day by day, don't rush it. Learn with what you have and last but not least, have fun! Thanks for sharing!
My first Nikon was the Nikon 2020, I’m dating myself. I have the D31000, DD3400, D7000 and D6 now. Imagine quality is awesome. Now I plan on using my cameras as a webcam in my new studio/ home office now that Nikon has web utility. I am new to this space.
The Nikon D3100 is a 14.2-megapixel DX format DSLR Nikon F-mount camera announced by Nikon on August 19, 2010. It replaced the D3000 as Nikon's entry level DSLR. It introduced Nikon's new EXPEED 2 image processor and was the first Nikon DSLR featuring full high-definition video recording with full-time autofocus and H.264 compression, instead of Motion JPEG compression. It was also the first Nikon DSLR to provide high-definition video recording at more than one frame rate.
quick story about this camera, so last month my best friend got himself a Nikon D5000 and i was amazed by it ( i never owned or used a DSLR and yes i realize it's an old model) however i decided to get myself a camera but i was on a budget ($120) so i bought a Canon Powershot SX30iS, it's a small bridge camera, it was okay but i wanted a better one, so i messed around with for just 2 days it then sold it to a friend for a $180, and i found this Nikon D3100 almost brand new with a Nikkor 18-55 VR lens for just $180!! with it's charger and strap and a Sony leather case, and i'm having it for 3 days now and i love it! the picture quality is still amazing, the video quality too is gorgeous ( even though i heard it records for 10 minutes at a time? idk i'm still searching for that) either way, i'm loving it and i think it's still worth it in 2020 (at least for me)
Nice! You got your D3100 for a pretty great price! And yeah, unfortunately, the maximum recording time for the D3100 is only 10 minutes. Thanks for sharing your experiences with your D3100!
I bought mine in 2013 and still LOVE it! I'm not always taking my time with shots so they aren't 100% as I'd envision them to be but it does the job and even surprises me sometimes. :)
I have an nikon d3100 since 4 years now. I bought it in 2016 for around 330$ and it's still very very good. I've got an 18-105 objective with it when I bought it and its doin his job. Very good camera for that price
Agreed the D3100 is a good camera, my first Nikon when it first came out. Gave my D3100 along with 18-55 and the 55-200mm lens to my dad yrs ago. Ended up buying a couple more after that because the price was so cheap so we could convert one to an infrared camera, wife had me cut the glass filter and she took the camera apart on the kitchen table and converted it, She still uses it. I found I can use old manual non AI lenses which are cheap on the D3100 without hurting the camera like they would on newer cameras with motors, takes some messing around with but cool shooting an old 50mm 1.4 that I paid maybe 40 bucks for on the D3100...okay I don't do that much but pretty cool...you got me wanting to try the video out with the old lens now. Thanks for reminding people about this camera and yes I'm blowing up your comment section for each of your videos.
It's great to hear about what cameras people have had. It's a good way to tell others how good these cameras are too! Especially for people that are looking for a budget friend DSLR. It's crazy how good of a deal you got your D3100 for too!
My parents bought the camera when it came out and it’s perfect because I’m just finding interest in photography deff gonna watch more videos on the camera and then I’ll find my way around it.
Nice!! I wish it was my first camera I started out with. It's a fun camera to begin with for sure. Attach a decent lens to it and you'll definitely see better image quality too! Here's a portrait shoot I did with the D3100 :) ruclips.net/video/na4vUJc3PDo/видео.html
For still photography the D3100 is fine. For video- well its only any good if you like listening to the very loud sound of the lens autofocus mechanism in all your videos. Of course, you could focis manually, but its tricky with this camera. And, of course, there is no socket for an external microphone. For a camera of this age, get a D5100 which does have the external microphone socket plus an articulating screen.
@@BoostLeekdMedia hey thanks for replying i wanted to ask i own the default af lens that came with it how is it and also can i get a budget tripod which will allow the camera to move up and down?
This was my first DSLR, in 2011, after a miss-step with an awful Nikon Coolpix 5700. I took some great pics with the D3100. I was more impressed with it than my replacement for it, the D600.
Thanks for your informative video. I love my D3100 for taking pictures -- even now in 2021. The only issue is that I'm not sure if I can use it for live-streaming. I can't seem to get the camera info off of the screen
I have owned a nikon d3100 since around 2011 but haven't had access to it this past year(currently in a different country) can't wait to get it back as i have been using my phone camera.
i just bought my d3100 5 days ago getting used to it after switching from cannon after not using a camera for a while but love it so far amazing results with the 18-55 af-s dx vr lens paid £220 for full kit body lense bag tripod only used 3 times by previous owner was like new so definatly got a bargin!!
I might be wrong, but the D7000 and the D3100 share the same sensor and image processor, that's why they tend to have quite similar, if not equal, image quality. The D7x00 are the high-end cropped cameras, while de D3x00 are entry-level, and the main differences are the built quality and some other specs and features, but they have, essentially, the same "core"
@@BoostLeekdMedia that's nice! I'm from Brazil and things are absolutely expensive here at the moment. Second-hand products are the best options, so it's quite easy to get a decent D7000 or D7100. I started photographing quite recently and luckily my father used to photograph with a D3100, so I managed to get it from him with some interesting lenses. Autofocus is a problem, but it's definitely a nice camera to start shooting
@@fabioragone22 Nice! Yeah, was using my D3100 last night and the AF isn't the best but it does it's job. 100% agree with you that its a nice camera to start with. I wish I got the D3100 to start with.
Just got the D3100, opted out from starting with a $2k camera, mainly because I just got started. I want to practice and get warmed up before up grading!
Nice!! I really did wish I started with the D3100. It's an amazing camera to learn with. On top of that, get a nice prime lens and start from there! Enjoy it!
Just picked one up for my kids to learn on for 50$ and got it a cheap 100$ yongnuo 50mm lens and can't complain . pictures comes out far better then I expected for a old camera
Great content! I am a new to photography and this is my camera but can u recommend a lens that I can use for sports photography? the venue is a little bit dark. thankyou so much from your new subscriber.
Thanks! I'd recommend the 70-200 2.8, especially with lower light situations. I've heard good things about the Sigma 50-100 F/1.8 but I heard the autofocus isn't that great for the Sigma 50-100 F/1.8 for sports.
Hi. I would like to buy a camera to start photograhpy and im not sure which one to buy (basically one for beginners). Could you please suggest some that are easy to use or help/guide you and are just about below £350. So far im between buying the d3000 and the d3100
If the D3100 is the same price as the D3000, get the D3100. The D3100 is an excellent camera to start out with and to learn with. I wished it was my first camera.
Just got a great deal on a used D3100 ( the screen is lightly craicked so it was only $85.) I dont't think you can shoot without a lens unless it is in manual mode and i just havent figured that out yet, My friend has the lens the camera came with and he is shipping it to me,,, looking forward to it!
Yes it a very good bargain 10 years ago had 400 Euro same price the US and Rotterdam and it was 265 USD in the US. The body is very small compared to other Nikon bodies and the LCD screen big enough and video shouting and at low light shouting is perfect... I was a beginner and its price and features let me buy Nikon plus my brother is a Nikon body user and a very successful underwater photographer since 1980s.
Hey! Thanks!! I would recommend looking at the Nikon 40mm 2.8 macro lens, especially for product photography. Just make sure you have a lot of light to work with or use the flash. The Nikon 40mm 2.8 Macro is what I used when I did product shots at my old work and it was awesome!
The D3100 is still my only camera. And I just love it. Can you recommend a camera close to the D3100 which is newer but still at a good price? ☺️ thank you in advance.
If anything, any of the "newer" Nikon D3x00 models are your best options. If not the D3x00 series, I think if you can find a good used D5300 or even the D5200 would be a good body too.
Amateur photographer here, I've had this one since 2012, but i barely use it since iPhone is my actual weapon of choice, i want to go pro, but before rushing to buy a new/mirrorless camera, i'm thinking of taking it out again and want to get the feel of holding DSLRs again, even though the lens is broken, any good one you can recommend for landscape photography?
Thanks for watching! There really isn't 'the best camera'. It just depends what you need the camera for. I have seen the Nikon D300s sell for around $250USD, even the Nikon D7000. I would highly suggest taking a look at the Nikon D7000, especially at that price range.
@@AliBamer2001 See if you can find the Nikon D7000 for $250USD. If not, the D300s is quite good too. Or, if you can find the D3100 or D5100 for $250USD, those are excellent choices.
Hi. I like your tips. What would you suggest for lens to take indoor portraits shots. Do I need better flash? I am a novice and would like to take portraits pictures of people. Thanks in advance for advise.
For indoor portraits, I would look at the 50mm 1.8G (if you have a lot of space). If you're limited in space, I would take a look at the 17-50 F/2.8 lens from Sigma. If you are doing indoor portraits, I would 100% use a flash. I remember my first Nikon SB600 (Nikon's external flash) and it was wonderful and an excellent learning flash. I hope this helps.
I've had the D3100 since it was released back in 2010. I coupled a 35mm f1.8 dx prime lense to it and it was a partnership made in heaven. But then Google released the Pixel 3XL and here was a phone camera that mostly equaled and sometimes bettered the Nikon. So why carry the extra bulk? Now I've upgraded to the Huawei p40 pro and the Nikon is going up for sale on our local buy and sell. Great camera but now superseded by flagship camera phone's..
Oh yeah, cell phone cameras have definitely gotten WAY better. And in the hands of a really skilled photographer, you can get pretty amazing pics with cell phone cameras too. I think the ONLY downside is the digital zoom images/videos that can't compete with DSLRs. As much as I LOOVE the convenience of cell phones, it's far from DSLR quality since the phone camera sensor's aren't the same size as DSLR's. But, one day, I'm really sure some phone company will be crazy enough to throw a DX sensor on their phones, haha!
@@BoostLeekdMedia i think it’s still nice to have the creative aspect of the dslr too. With the phone camera this is all removed as a possibility. I use an iphone for family pics though and it is good for that purpose. Using a SLR is like painting your own picture 😀
Hello bro I have these options to pick from: Canon 40d (for 150 $) Or Nikon d3000 (for 100$) Or Nikon d3100 (for 180$) All comes with 18-55 lens, in great condtition, help me choose please This will be my first camera, I want to shoot everything, art, coffee shops, my girl, to capture moments
I like to take pictures with my cell phone but I wanted a camera, I have a sony dcr dvd650 with a 60x zoom, it's amazing to see things up close and the possibilities but the quality is low and it doesn't take pictures, there's a nikon b700 with 4k and good images in the samples from youtube, i found a used nikon d3100 and a canon t6, for video i found it horrible but in pictures the d3100 samples are prettier, i'm in doubt. Which would be better?
If you're only doing pictures, the D3100 is great. But if you need video the Canon's T6 does have the upper hand. It just really depends what kind of photography you're doing and how much videos you'll be doing as well.
I believe it's just the way the camera is built. It's annoying because the camera doesn't know what to focus on and very frustrating. One of the reasons why I never use the viewfinder in manual mode and only use the Live View in Auto Mode.
You will need 3rd party programs to have it function as a webcam. There are other cameras out there that are easier to to use for webcam. Personally, I would not use it as a webcam.
@@BoostLeekdMedia thanks! Man I was kind of freaking out on the way there when I realized how much stuff there was to inspect and how many things could be faulty. @@kiezersosay49 haha. nah man, you're not douchy at all. I feel the same way when I see/buy a good deal too, haha. And even better that the seller is SUPER cool too!
Hey I have the d3100 for many years now. I have the kit lens, 50mm 1.8, 55-200mm 4.5 and a Sigma 17-50mm 2.8. There isn't anything wrong with the camera but I'm concerned about the end of the Nikon DSLRs era. That's why I was thinking about getting a d7500 and still get good use of the glass I already have. With that said is there any point on upgrading? Thank you.
You could upgrade. I guess it just really depends what you're photographing. The D7500 is an incredible camera. I like that the D7500 does give you the 1/8000 max shutter speed and how button layout on the D7500 is much better for making faster camera adjustments too. At the end of the day, just weigh in the pros and cons to decide if you want to upgrade. Nikon DSLRs are ending but Nikon is still continuing to make, I think, 2 more F-mount lenses too. Mirrorless is definitely the next road they're going too. I hope this helps!
I've had this camera for about 8 years and am currently thinking of upgrading soon. Although I have achieved some good photos from it I do find the autofocus quite slow and some photos not that sharp, but maybe thats me or the lens that I use. Would you recommend investing in a new camera or is it worth trying a better lens? I take mainly wildlife and landscape photos. Thanks.
If you're doing more wildlife (and landscape), definitely upgrade. While the D3100 is excellent for slow moving subjects, it struggles a lot with fast moving subjects. I would still keep the D3100 as a backup but if you want a camera that has a better autofocusing system for wildlife, I would highly recommend looking at the D7x00 series. I hope this helps!
I got this camera in 2011 when I was just learning photography. I have always used the kit lens and a zoom lens (55-200). I have always struggled with this camera. The focus has always been an issue for me and I never felt like I could get a photo just right. Everything came out slightly blurry or parts of the photo were blurry where others were clear. I also think that it is a good entry level camera, but it's been time for me to upgrade for a long time now. I also noticed the same issues with the video mode and shooting with the display screen. I never use it because it doesn't focus quickly. I just used my camera today and it just didn't focus well for me. Does anyone else have issues like this with cameras like this that they've had to 10+ years?
You could be getting blurry images because of your shutter speed. If you're shooting in Auto mode, the camera is probably adjusting to it's own best settings. And if you're photographing in low light conditions and you're in auto mode, the camera will most likely automatically adjust the shutter speed to be slower so you will have images that are blurry and then some that are not. Basically, it just really depends what settings you have but blurry images, usually the shutter speed is the culprit, especially in low light conditions. As for the video mode/live view, the D3100's live view/video mode is definitely out dated. The D3100 was one of Nikon's first entry-level DSLRs to have video too. As for focusing, compared to modern cameras of today, it is a bit behind BUT it's not terrible either. To cure the focusing issue, the camera needs a 'harsh' contrasty subject to focus on; like a leaf or a cup or something that the camera knows is an object. If you're photographing in low light conditions, it's going to have a really tough time autofocusing because it doesn't know what to look at. If it's slow to focus, it could also be the lens as well. There are a few things that can cause the Autofocus to be slow and get blurry images. So, I hope this helps!
Hello I have this camera Since 2013. My question is how can i take picture while your in recording a video ..in the manual it say when in video just press shutter button all the way down but thats doesnt work?...thanks

Hello from Pennsylvania. I bought a D3100 8 years ago and I retire it to become a studio video camera. I want to upgrade to a newer camera like a D7500 or whatever. Do you know if the lenses will still work from my D3100? I have an Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G and a Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 55-300mm 1:45-5.6GED lens. Thank you.
It's okay. The autofocus is definitely not reliable but if this is your only camera for video, it's good. I would even say the video recording on a modern phone camera is A LOT better than the D3100's video.
you can! but the autofocus for video is extremely slow and it's a hit and miss. But you can still definitely vlog with it. I have a sigma 10-20 lens that I use and it makes for a pretty neat vlogging lens.
@@BoostLeekdMedia Thanks for the reply! I'll try to check that lens as well and hope that it's available here in the Philippines. And yeah another question, I tried to record a video and I've seen the timer that it's only good for 12mins. Is it the only maximum or depending on my SD card?
Is this still relevant ? I saw deals for 60€ with no objective, with its like 120€ as far as i understand objective are the same for each nikon so that's why they don't lose value ?
Is there anything like the D3100 within it's price bracket? Over here (UK) I could get the D3100 with lenses and goodies for £200/$350, can you reccomend anything close to that? I'm amateur photographer, mainly taking photos of nature and landscapes, thanks :)
I know around my town, I can find a used D5200 for around that price. But they're sold quite quickly. Sticking with Nikon DSLRs, the only cameras I've seen that's an upgrade to the D3100 is the D5200 and D5300. But those D5200s and D5300s are sold REAL fast. Outside of Nikon DSLRs, I've been seeing thee Sony A6000 for around $350 but only in the used market. I would highly recommend the A6000.
Depends what your budget is. I've heard many great reviews with the Sigma 18-35 F/1.8 lens. Then, the Sigma 17-50 F/2.8 is also a great lens. I know the Nikon 18-200 has gotten significantly cheaper in the used market as well and that lens is probably a great all-purpose lens too. I hope this helps!
This camera is available to me at quite an affordable price. However, I'm more interested in videohraphy and I'd appreciate more info on whether this is a good option for me.
hello friend, I'm thinking of changing my smartphone redmi note 8 into a d3100, do you think it's worth the change? Will I have a lot of quality gain in photos?
Point of correction sir regarding auto focus; Nikon d3100 takes video on auto focus, you go on live view and press infor and select AF-S, everything is there LOL😂😂! the thing is, most us here we dont read the manual book!!!!!!
@@hickmannjilakondo2362 haha, you're right! Unfortunately, when I bought this D3100, there were none. Even in the manual online, it was a bit difficult to understand lol. But oh man, the video AF functions....but that's as good as it will get, haha.
Lol, the best way to learn is to use it, for real! Put it in automode and start taking pictures. Settings on the camera really depends what you're photographing. What do you usually use the D3100 to photograph?
can I ask, i have my Nikon d3100 but my manual setting get troubled, I don't know how to fix it in every captured having delay and the photos get troubled. how can I fix the setting? pls help me. thanks .
there are several factors to why your images are turning out the way they are in manual mode. if you're photographing during the day, with lots of light, you will need to photography at a higher shutter speed. The higher the shutter speed, the faster the camera will be able to capture an image (especially if the subject/object is moving at a very fast pace). That's just one of the factors. You will have to understand how Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO works together to get the settings you want. There are 'cheat sheets' on how each of those settings work, you can google "camera settings cheat sheet' on the internet and you can see that there are many great examples of how Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO all work together to get the image you want. I hope this helps!
Hi sir I am thinking of buying nikon d3100 but a bit confused about seeing some recent videos is that a good camera as a beginner although I love photography and take it as a profession can you help me out please
I would get the D3200 if it's in your budget. While the D3100 is great, the D3200 does have more Megapixels and better lowlight capabilities. But, if you're budget is within the D3200 range, get the D3200. If your budget is not up to the D3200, the D3100 is perfectly fine. :) Save the extra money and grab a decent lens for the D3100 if you're not getting the D3200.
@@BoostLeekdMedia how about d5100? Is it better than d3200? Because i found d3200 around $157 and d5100 around $177 which one do you think i should get? Thanks a lot
@@newbieplayer1787 "better" really depends what kind of photography/videography you're doing. The D5100's articulating screen is very helpful. On the other end, the D3200's video is great and the D3200 does have 24mp. If you need the Megapixels, the D3200 is your go to. If you need better lowlight performance, the D5100 is better. Between the 2, I would use the D5100 just because it would fit my needs more. But for photography, you can not go wrong with both. It's a tough decision and you really have yo weigh your options as to what kind of photography you do. Both are excellent cameras though.

What do y’all use to edit your photos?!
I just purchased my Nikon D3100 yesterday, and it's still good. I just have a problem with auto focusing. But it is still good
Nice! Enjoy it!
Are you able to turn it on without a lens ? I just got one but it won’t turn on and I want to try it with a lens but I don’t want to spend extra money
Very nice! It's such a nice camera to learn with! Hope you enjoy it and stay tuned, I'll be doing more videos showcasing this awesome camera :D
Nice!! Thanks for sharing!
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
I got one for $80 that is in perfect condition and barely used. With a 18-55 mm lens and a bag. Such a good bargain!
Wow!! That's an AWESOME deal for the Nikon D3100! Haha. Thanks for sharing! :D And thanks for watching!
From where?
I got mine for 200
I've had my D3100 since 2013.
Awesome! Good to know you're still using yours. It's still a very capable camera, especially once you have a nice lens on it.
Sweet deal you got! The D3100 is a solid starter camera, for sure. Enjoy it! Thanks for sharing
I got the camera from a relative when i was a kid, am coming back to it after 8 years and getting started with photography and creative works. Im exited for what's to come.
I still use my D3100 when I don't want to bring my other cameras. It's such a fun camera to use and to learn with. Enjoy it!

was looking to get an entry level DSLR and came across a used D3100. Your review helped a lot!
Glad I could help!
@@BoostLeekdMedia Well, the kit lenses are decent, and degrees also got a manual focus 50/1.8 she can use for indoor work.
I have a D3100 and have had it for years. I think that it takes nice photos. I just need to find more reasons to use it more. 😄
Nice! Haha, yeah. Especially with COVID19 still around, it's tough to use any of my cameras right now.
quick story about this camera, so last month my best friend got himself a Nikon D5000 and i was amazed by it ( i never owned or used a DSLR and yes i realize it's an old model) however i decided to get myself a camera but i was on a budget ($120) so i bought a Canon Powershot SX30iS, it's a small bridge camera, it was okay but i wanted a better one, so i messed around with for just 2 days it then sold it to a friend for a $180, and i found this Nikon D3100 almost brand new with a Nikkor 18-55 VR lens for just $180!! with it's charger and strap and a Sony leather case, and i'm having it for 3 days now and i love it! the picture quality is still amazing, the video quality too is gorgeous ( even though i heard it records for 10 minutes at a time? idk i'm still searching for that) either way, i'm loving it and i think it's still worth it in 2020 (at least for me)
Nice! You got your D3100 for a pretty great price! And yeah, unfortunately, the maximum recording time for the D3100 is only 10 minutes.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with your D3100!
@@BoostLeekdMedia thank you sir!
I Already but Nikon D3100 with 50mm lens so nice I'm from Philippines and also a blogger too
I bought mine in 2013 and still LOVE it! I'm not always taking my time with shots so they aren't 100% as I'd envision them to be but it does the job and even surprises me sometimes. :)
Nice! Good to hear!
I have an nikon d3100 since 4 years now. I bought it in 2016 for around 330$ and it's still very very good. I've got an 18-105 objective with it when I bought it and its doin his job. Very good camera for that price
Nice! Around here, it's keeping it's value too!

Here's a portrait shoot I did with the D3100 :)

Agreed! Thanks for sharing.
One major problem with 3100 is theres no mic jack if you want to do quality video.
i just found out that my dads old camera is a d3100 ill surely use it for recording videos for my pc build and benchmarks nice video!

That's awesome! It's a great camera to learn with!
The D7000 and D5100 actually shared the same sensor. I'm still trying to source out a decent D7000 so I can use it and review it too!
@@BoostLeekdMedia that's nice! I'm from Brazil and things are absolutely expensive here at the moment. Second-hand products are the best options, so it's quite easy to get a decent D7000 or D7100. Thanks! I'd recommend the 70-200 2.8, especially with lower light situations. I've heard good things about the Sigma 50-100 F/1.8 but I heard the autofocus isn't that great for the Sigma 50-100 F/1.8 for sports.
It does do autofocus during video recording. It’s not really good and it is really loud if you are using the in camera mic. But it is a possibility.

Nice!! Thanks for sharing!
Hi! I loved your video; really informative.
I have the Nikon D3100, and I want to take product photography. What lens do you recommend me?
Hey!
Amateur photographer here, I've had this one since 2012, but i barely use it since iPhone is my actual weapon of choice,
i want to go pro, but before rushing to buy a new/mirrorless camera, i'm thinking of taking it out again and want to get the feel of holding DSLRs again, even though the lens is broken, any good one you can recommend for landscape photography?
I loved using the Sigma 10-20. It felt really well balanced on my D3100.
Hey great video but can i use it as a webcam for streaming?
Nice video i'm following you from jordan!
I want to ask what is the best camera for budget about 250$
Thanks for watching! There really isn't 'the best camera'. It just depends what you need the camera for. I have seen the Nikon D300s sell for around $250USD, even the Nikon D7000. I would highly suggest taking a look at the Nikon D7000, especially at that price range.
I want it to take photos mainly and for vloging form time to time but mainly photos
@@AliBamer2001 See if you can find the Nikon D7000 for $250USD. If not, the D300s is quite good too. Or, if you can find the D3100 or D5100 for $250USD, those are excellent choices.
Thank you
Great video, btw!
Thank you!!
Damn, should of gotten this camera, but I don't think it was out at the time I bought my camera. How many frames per second?
the D3100 has a max of 3FPS when shooting photos. It's definitely on the slower end but still, the AF is actually quite surprisingly good too!

Nikon d3100 (for 180$)

@@BoostLeekdMedia so, for photos nikon d3100 is better than? and your opinion about b700 em quality?
Hello sir, do you know why my D3100 focus immediately when i use viewfinder, but when i use live screen isn't focus or focus so hard?
I believe it's just the way the camera is built. It's annoying because the camera doesn't know what to focus on and very frustrating. One of the reasons why I never use the viewfinder in manual mode and only use the Live View in Auto Mode.
Please make a video using that camera as a webcam (I want to see the quality of that camera for webcam) tnx!!! 🙂
Keep it up
You will need 3rd party programs to have it function as a webcam. There are other cameras out there that are easier to to use for webcam. Personally, I would not use it as a webcam.

@@BoostLeekdMedia that helped a lot! I appreciate your answer. Thanx a bunch
@@BoostLeekdMedia Thank you very much for help 😊

@@juniorbeltran751 i'm not sure where you are located. here in the USA, there are a few places. check your local electronic store to see if they can help find you a place to print your images.
Hi, I saw a deal for the D3100 with a 18-55MM 3.5-5.6 DX lens for 129 euros. I am a beginner, so is that a good lens to use? And should I buy it?
For 129 euros, it aint bad. it's definitely an excellent camera to start out with, especially if you want to get into photography. I'm still using my D3100 :D
I literally got one for free with no battery. I have a t2i t6i and dji pocket. If it works I'll use it for random shots I guess.
Thank you.
Yes, the 2 lenses you listed will work on the D7500. The D7500 is a beast of a camera too!
@@BoostLeekdMedia Thank you, my friend. Be blessed today.
Good sharing
Is this good for videography as a budget camera
It's okay. The autofocus is definitely not reliable but if this is your only camera for video, it's good. I would even say the video recording on a modern phone camera is A LOT better than the D3100's video.
I have this cam too but haven't used it that much, I used it occasionally. I'm thinking if it's okay to use for Vlogging purposes?
you can! but the autofocus for video is extremely slow and it's a hit and miss.
@@bimbirobielos328 that is the maximum. You will have to keep pressing the record button after that time.
@@BoostLeekdMedia I see then. Thank you much I really appreciate it! (^_^)(V)
Is this still relevant ? I saw deals for 60€ with no objective, with its like 120€ as far as i understand objective are the same for each nikon so that's why they don't lose value ?
How about as a WebCam Via HDMI?
Can i use for live stream from D3100.
If yes,Please tell me connection setting and tell me needed cables. Everything about live streaming. 👍
You can but unfortunately, I have never tried it on the D3100.
@@BoostLeekdMedia Thank You for reply 👍
Can you recommend a decent all-purpose lens for the D3100? I have the kit lens, but would like to expand the camera's capabilities. Thanks.
@@BoostLeekdMedia Thank you. It is appreciated.
This camera is available to me at quite an affordable price. However, I'm more interested in videohraphy and I'd appreciate more info on whether this is a good option for me.
It's a bit behind on videography since the autofocus is very challenging to use. You can definitely still do videos with the D3100 though.
@@BoostLeekdMedia great. Thank you!
hello friend, I'm thinking of changing my smartphone redmi note 8 into a d3100, do you think it's worth the change? Will I have a lot of quality gain in photos?
The smart phone is very convenient but the D5100 definitely beats the smartphone in terms of image quality.
I love this video,I have a D3100.
Thanks! It's an awesome camera :D
A friend just gave me his d3100. Can this cam support external audio mic for taking videos? Thanks!
Unfortunately, it does not support an external audio mic for videos.
@@BoostLeekdMedia that's too bad. Now, I'm thinking of an alternative way to get a better audio. Thanks for answering. 😊
Hi sir? I have so many questions about nikon d3100 can dm you sir? I am from Philippines.
Awesome video... what about Canon?
Thanks! I'll get to Canon eventually :)
I saw you review to 85 mm Nikon 1.8g.Is this compatible to 85mm???
Yes! The 85mm 1.8G will work with the D3100 :D
I use nikon for the pitik
i cant go to live view mode while taking pictures please tell me how to switch on live view while photography?
At 00:50 seconds, you can see me switching to live view mode.
Can u do a video of how to use D3100? I actually dont know how to use this properly lol
Lol, the best way to learn is to use it, for real! Put it in automode and start taking pictures. Settings on the camera really depends what you're photographing. What do you usually use the D3100 to photograph?
If you type D3100 into youtube there are many instructional videos to help you learn how to use it.
can I ask, i have my Nikon d3100 but my manual setting get troubled, I don't know how to fix it in every captured having delay and the photos get troubled. how can I fix the setting? pls help me. thanks
.
there are several factors to why your images are turning out the way they are in manual mode. if you're photographing during the day, with lots of light, you will need to photography at a higher shutter speed.
Do this camera support external microphone?
?? Following...
Does current versions of Lightroom Classic and Lightroom 6 support tethered capture for Nikon D3100?
No. Unfortunately, the D3100 can not be tethered with the current LR programs.
What programs are available then in lieu of LR. I am brand new to the 3100 so I don’t know diddly about this. Thanks. Appreciated this video.
Hi sir I am thinking of buying nikon d3100 but a bit confused about seeing some recent videos is that a good camera as a beginner although I love photography and take it as a profession can you help me out please
The D3100 is an excellent camera for beginners. I wish it was my first camera to learn with. I still use it. In fact, I just used it the other day :D
@@BoostLeekdMedia so it will be worth it to use for beginners thanks alot sir
Hi, do you think it’s better to get 3200 or 3100?
@@BoostLeekdMedia wow thanks a lot man I really appreciate it
