  • Yes. Is it still a capable camera? Yes. Is it the cheapest Nikon DSLR? Maybe.
This video is dedicated to the Nikon D40 and classic DSLR photographers! It was my first camera and the colors from it are absolutely amazing thanks to it's CCD sensor.

You should make a collection video going through all of your equipment

That's going to be a VERY long video, haha! But I appreciate the suggestion! I might just do that soon. :)

Replaced my D40x and D200 with a D700. Not really small lol.

I have a 2006 D80 with a kit zoom. I like it a lot. Been thinking about full frame D600 as an additional camera. I was quite proficient using a 35mm Nikon FM SLR and made a bit of money doing the odd wedding, christening and publicity shoot. I have not felt the same passion about digital for some reason even though I do know my way around computers. Thanks for another great video. I kept my Nikon FM too.

Very nice to know you still have your D80! The D600 is one camera I'd like to get my hands on. It was the camera I was seriously considering before the D750 was released. I really need to get my hands on a few of the Nikon Film Cameras :)

BoostLeekd Media my Nikon D40 maxes out at 32gig cards. which is what i put in my two D40s . I keep mine in the car with a 18-200mm lens . So i always have DSLR available. Keep up the good work.

Going to Japan this summer. I was thinking to bring my D40X with me, together with just and only my 35mm1:18g. Will I make it? Quite a bright lens, so I'm quite confident for the night shooting as well...

I actually brought my D40, along with my Sigma 35 F/1.4 ART lens attached to it, during my Tokyo trip in March this year. You will be perfectly fine. The 35mm F/1.8G DX is a fine lens. For super bright days, you can increase the aperture between F/2 and F/2.8 :)

I have the 40x version. A bit more resolution. The kit lens got not much to shout about. Then I was curious on how it will look with a prime lens like a Voigtlander. So I bought the Nokton 55mm F1.2. It knock me off my feet. The image was like a Leica. But it is a pain to manual focus at a smaller aperture. Don't ever move forward or backward even a quarter inch. It certainly need an autofocus lens. I heard that Nikkor has produced 120 million lenses to date. I'm sure I can find some good prime with autofocus.

Nice! Yes, I had the SAME focus issue with a 50mm F/1.2 AIS lens I borrowed. Focusing was a pain. As much as I loved how the image rendered, it was just too much of a hassle to hit 100% focus on a subject without moving too much, as you said.
As for prime lenses, I REALLY love the 50mm 1.8G on my D40 :)

Hi there, thanks for this video! Yesterday, my aunt gave me that camera; it's like new. Can I ask you something? I'm a beginner and I want to get one of the lenses you recommend. Which is the best lens, not just for now but also for when I eventually buy a new camera?

    • @BoostLeekdMedia
      @BoostLeekdMedia  5 дней назад +1

Unfortunately, the 'best lens' just depends on your style of photography. But, as I said in the video, the 18-200 is probably the "best" lens for beginners because of focal length ranges. Whenever you do upgrade to a new camera, feel free to ask again :)

@@BoostLeekdMedia Thank you. Maybe it's a silly question, but is the kit lens I currently have too weak? Do you recommend getting the 18-200mm?"

I hope you can take this out on a photowalk on a better lighting condition. Or maybe at night and do some long exposures. I found one online for 150 dollars with a kit lens in pristine condition. You have convinced me to buy one.

Not sure what happened. I usually don't delete comments unless it's extremely unnecessary. I do know youtube deletes comments but I'm not seeing "blocked" comments on my end.

@@BoostLeekdMedia thanks. Yes, I’ve talked to another site this evening that I also got deleted on, and apparently they believe it is RUclips deleting comments, for what reason they can’t figure out because they were not offensive in any way, rather, as in my case, very complimentary. Social media baffles me sometimes 😡
