Yeah! Love a street running train! And a street train at night as well :) That would be the only drawback there - if there are folks living along the tracks and then the horn blasts at night. Not ideal, but it is a street runner so I would love it!
Nice ol’ Georgia town, LOVE GA for that, the old well maintained buildings, manicured lawns, street plantings, nice and homey, and that great trestle! NICE CATCHES!!
What a nice trip! You got to see a lot of trains down in Florida and Georgia. The street runners are real cool to watch. Wish i lived in an area like that! Shoutout to Chessie and Norfie and the rest of the gang. I see Norfie is catching up on some rail news, haha. Thanks Jaw Tooth for the great adventures
It is hard to believe. I know I am a foreigner but this is really something. It is nearly touching to see a very slow train passing those trees, cars and houses. Thanks for the Video, Jaw Tooth.
Another super video! Love that old trestle! Street running train brought back memories for me. As a kid I lived in Northern California and the tracks went up the center of First Street. And I just realized that for a lot of years my dad was the only engineer who ran the train thru town. The yard was in Eureka and he would have to go around Humboldt Bay to several towns where there mills to pick up lumber. Then he would retrace his route back thru town to the yard and make up the freight trains heading south. Looks like you and Mrs. T had a great trip.
Nice shot of the city street/train Gives some. dimension of traffic. every dimension of. railroading combined. with traffic Awesome to say. the least Another fine catch JT. Keep em comming
That was a nice ride along Sixth Street in Augusta, Georgia in your rental car. I liked the video of the street runner from you past trip of Augusta, Georgia. The night video that you took on this trip was interesting to watch. Thank you for uploading this video for us to watch.
Good excellent video, mr Jaw Tooth. A bridge builded in 1912 man that bridge Isis 46 years older than me . And that is the first bridge? Wow man!!! Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands.
Yep, the trains run right through Eighth Street, downtown. Kind of amazing in this day and time. We have Norfolk-Southern and CSX both, in and around Augusta. NS tracks run right in front of Club Car, and right behind Mullins Crossing shopping center. You can park in the back, behind Ulta and Kohl's, and you can almost touch the trains when they come by. Glad you came by to visit.
I worked at Club Car for 14 years and I've seen many trains go by. Right after Desert Storm a train came by hauling 92 M1 tanks. I believe those Club Car tracks are CSX. Another day in 1990ish, a huge storm came through and washed out a trestle adjacent to Club Car property that had been backfilled decades before. The rails were left dangling in the air. CSX visited Club Car soon after begging for dirt to put under the dangling track. The executives of Club Car, still realing from the loss of our beloved coworker and his wife for a work time accident at the ungated crossing, agreed to give them the dirt...on the condition CSX install crossing gates. Unbelievably, they would not install the gates after the tragic accident but agreed two years later when they needed the track back up and running.
Glad to see you made it to my hometown! Fun fact is you rode the house Woodrow Wilson lived in as a child. His father was the pastor of First Presbyterian Church right across the street from the house.
Thanks for sacrificing some family time to enable recording the night train 🚆 Looks Norfie has some great bedtime reading 📚 Glad you enjoyed the seaside😉
Good video Jawtooth I live in Trion, Georgia. It's a long way from Augusta, Georgia for me. Like seeing street running Trains. Have a Good Morning and a Great Day.
Jaw Toorh if you’re near Greenville Ohio next to Greenville Union Cemetery. There is a train than curves near the cemetery and runs along the road then over a steel bridge. My wife has family resting in the Cemetery and great Uncle that designed and built the mausoleum near the tracks. KitchenAid has an outlet store in town too. Love those street runners
What then, the dog already reads railway newspapers??? Great, then I should probably send Chessie something about the railway from Berlin. Greetings from Berlin/ Germany. Sven
Either the neighbors don't mind it, it's their alarm clock, or they wear earplugs to bed. I used to wear earplugs to bed when I worked nights, so I could sleep. Otherwise, every little sound would wake me up. That particular engineer is really heavy handed on that horn.
I grew up next to a C&O (CSX) mainline and the whistle sign. That early morning train reminded me how that you can become unaffected by even train horns in the middle of the night.
Awesome video JT and nothing compares to STREET RUNNING TRAINS in my book! Hopefully one day I'll make it to LaGrange,Ky or where you were in Georgia to see this. Thanks for making the trek down South to explore to capture more railroading videos for us!
I was in Augusta on 2/19 and I totally missed this, I guess I'll have to go back now! I miss when the track on River Street in Savannah was still active, feeding coal cars in to the power plant on the bridge end of River Street. The power plant isn't used anymore and last I saw was being converted into a community center or something of the like.
Very few of these street running train routes around anymore, very cool to see a different location than the Lagrange, KY one keep up the good work and stay safe
Glad you enjoyed it! There are several more that I visited and struck out. I struck out in Owensboro, Kentucky and another street running town in Pennsylvania
I'm from a town west of Augusta when my family would shop in Augusta, always look forward to see the trains run up and down the street. Coming from the SC side when they cross the bridge.
I've actually been there where you filmed that street running train. That place in Augusta is called the River Walk, and I have a photo of me standing in front of a Norfolk & Southern locomotive as it was coming off of the trestle. I lived in the Augusta area for a very short time.
