Let police add it to their case. Serve her a trespass notice(do not wait for police to move against her, they could move very slow). If she is notified that she would be trespassing, she is breaking the law by just stepping onto the property, no excuse of being at the wrong house or anything else would work.

      So don't get me wrong, I totally get wanting to build a big case to get a repeat offender off the streets. But why not arrest her for the crimes and give her a chance to make the right decision before it becomes a felony? Seems like it would protect more citizens and have a better effect of rehabilitating people. If she doesn't change, it's easy to use past cases against her to show she shouldn't be in our communities. It's the same with employers. They can't just keep holding negative information against you until they have enough to fire you. They need to give written and verbal warnings on the situation a number of times before they can take drastic action.

    Another tool to deter thefts is a bait package. Some people make glitter bombs and such.
    Mine is different. My package has old piss in an open or loosely closed container inside. Handling will very likely tip the piss container and start soaking the box. Some might even drip outside the box. Hopefully some of it will leak onto the criminal. Some may also wet car upholstery while they drive. The cool part is that by the time they realize what happened it's too late. I have put a few out by the front door. No takers, yet.

    • @amzarnacht6710
      @amzarnacht6710 7 месяцев назад

      Fill the container with animal feces (cat works best) and urine - NEVER your own. Then rig up a discharge device that's linked to a geofeced trigger. The moment they leave the area it detonates and fills the vehicle with the contents of the package.
      I'd prefer explosives, but toxic cat crap is passable.

      @@James_Rivers also, using an HPA tank will let you control the regulated air output much more consistently - like for example, calibrating the marker to shoot at somewhere between 325-400fps & have it hold that set velocity w/ a per shot delta of less than +/- 5fps for at least 50 shots without ambient temperature causing wild fluctuations (which CO2 tanks are subject to).
      This will let you dial in a FPS that lets you run it spicy, but won't cause the pepper balls to break - with the added benefit of letting you shoot extremely fast full-auto without freezing the action (like CO2 often does at high fire rates).
      BTW 300fps is the most common limit that fields enforce all markers to shoot at or below, but indoor reball fields (rubber balls) often will make it 265fps or so. IMO I say you should use at least 325fps for your deployment application lol

      I highly disagree on using a Q-loader. They're known for putting loads of pressure on paint, and could potentially smash the pepper balls before they can get into the chamber, assuming you don't smash the pepperballs and gas yourself just trying to load the Q-Loader...

    You should mix in paintballs to mark fleeing vehicles. There might be special die’s that require something other than water to remove like in anti shop lifting or bank cash dye packets. Less usefully a dye blend that has water soluble colour for patrol car visibility but has an invisible dye that doesn’t wash off that’s revealed under Black light or something as evidence that would stay long term.

    I've been slowly designing a sentry bot myself. A couple of features I plan to add to mine are air horns. These could be the simple canister style, activated my a gear motor turning a cam lobe. And some bright strobing LEDS. These will attract attention as well as scaring and disorienting an intruder. A can of pepperspray/bear spray on the robot could also be used to create a more concentrated cloud in the event they attempt to molest the robot. Bear spray also has a range of 20-40 feet, so it might just be a better solution to the paintball marker since it has similar range and little risk of missing and heading towards someone/something behind the intended target.

Since the pepper ball cloud spreads, a simpler approach is to place pepper balls around the property with radio controlled igniters so when the perp goes on your property, just send an ignite signal to the pepper ball station closest to the perp, or just ignite them all, blanketing your home with pepper spray.

    PS if your paint gun can shoot enough rounds it doesn't matter how accurate it is. But it would be a bit messy. You should have it notify you first so you can check the image. And maybe a little shelf target practice would help bring your spirits up.

    I would strongly suggest that you never use any kind of robot to shoot paintballs at somebody who’s stealing because that is highly likely you could take legal action either Sibley or criminal in for booby trapinn your house

    i see your amcrest PTZ camera! i'm super impressed with that company and i've spent a lot of money with them. if you pay their monthly fee you get human detection and you can even get ID tracking. the system can blacklist a face (like being banned from a casino) and you can even set it up to trigger an I/O pin to run an alarm (or something else) when a specific face is detected. the main thing is they have legit customer service. they are not a native english speaking company, but i haven't had any problems communicating with them

    • @James_Rivers

      This one has onboard vehicle and human detection! You can set up triggers based on detection. It has face detection but not recognition. Their products are great

    So long as it was manually confirmed like your robot, for sake of not counting as a booby trap, I feel like a great alternative/addition to this, would be a pop-up turret on your porch, disguised as an Amazon box. Could even have the mechanism activated by them trying to lift it (and failing since it's bolted/lead weighted to the ground).
    Alternative to my alternative, just have a box ready to blast out a cloud of pepper-spray. Sends you an alert when anyone attempts to pick it up, with the camera feed from your porch, and the option to fire it off.

    My buddy and I have been wanting to make an autonomous paintball sentry robot to use in actual paintball matches, and I wish that we could get access to your code to have a baseline. Ours would definitely be more complex because we would need to distinguish from friendlies and combatants, but I bet that the code you have for this would give us a great foundation.

    The Robot could be better with a motor fed Hopper. Dye -LT-R for example to remove feeding issues.

  • @glandhound
    @glandhound 7 месяцев назад +1

    I'm assuming you like bots... I mean, a spray nozzle near the porch with the deterrent gas/liquid of your choosing would work too. The packages will be both delivered and purloined at the same spot, so aiming isn't really needed. Having shooty things on moving platforms in general will make hitting the target so much harder than it needs to be.
    Another option would have been to sync a stationary turret to shoot at whatever that porch camera is pointing at.
    Then again, having an armed robot hunt you is a deterrent on it's own.

    James, you should totally see if there’s a First Robotics Competition team in your area of Florida. You’d have a blast being a mentor on the team and your skills would really help the team! It’s a high school robotics competition with about 3000+ teams from around the world. Lots of info about it online if you’re interested, and the stuff you’d learn would be extremely helpful to yourself as well. There’s an entire ecosystem of standardized components used in FRC that could be useful on your robot, plus entire CAD books released by teams plus the code that did the controls for their robot in a given season.

    • @sjsomething4936
      @sjsomething4936 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@James_Rivers cool. There’s lots of videos online showing what the competitions are like, every year is a different game so requires a new robot design. If you look up FRC Houston Einstein you’ll see the best teams competing at the pinnacle of their abilities to win the world championship. It’s like a football game sized crowd as at Champs it starts with 560 teams with all of the spectators, probably about 20k people in the Houston convention center watching this, plus thousands watching on Twitch. There’s 2 quite good teams from Florida, FRC Team 180 aka S.P.A.M. and another Team 179 aka Children of the Swamp. Many more Florida teams but those are the ones I’m most familiar with, our team has won a summer offseason competition with 180, very good & cool people.

    interesting how you have done the steering, I like it, I have the same chassis which I originally converted to a 50cc petrol Rc car but got sick of it being grossly over powered and went electric, my steering has a 60kg servo mounted in the space in the frame between the wheels.
    Since going electric I can run mine with a body as rollovers are not a problem any more, I have a kids ride on truck body for it and I chopped and re welded the chassis to be a lower profile to fit inside the body and its also now running ardupilot rover :)
