It's fascinating how Stoicism has evolved over the centuries. The way it helps us deal with challenges and find tranquility is something that many of us can relate to. In your opinion, do you think Stoic principles are still as relevant today as they were in ancient times, especially with the modern pressures we face?

Amazing. I recently sat outside at night. Amongst my Christmas lights , I closed my eyes for 1 minute. When I opened them; the lights were so much more bright and colorful. Thank you for this moment.

I watch half of the video and I am sad that I have to stop right now in order to go to sleep. However, I will continue to watch it tomorrow. I took some notes and I want to say that the long video you created for us is really helpful and I want to thank you so much for all the effort you put it in. May God bless you!

One of the best videos iv ever seen so well made, easy and simple to understand.
I was previously only aware of Zeno, Seneca, Epictetus and Aurelius. Being made aware of so many other prominent figures in Stoicism through your works was a blast!
Look forward to seeing future content keep up the grind 😎

You did a really good job making this, ive extensively read a hand full of stoic works and try to practice the philosophy. Watching this was like rereading the thousands of pages we have available verbatim in order. Excellent job.

Just wanted to compliment you for the wonderful video. Great introduction that gave me more information than I originally thought it would be. Was very interesting seeing all the different takes that different stoics had over the years as well as how different their lives were.

Excellent video! Thank you SO much. I knew the names of some; Cato, Seneca & Marcus Aurelius, but had either forgotten or just not associated each with this school of philosophy. Wish that I had studied this when I was much younger, life might have been much easier. But, it’s never too late to learn & grow. I’ve subscribed to both, ‘though my screen name bears little resemblance to my email address (unless you notice my signature line, no biggie).
You have a Talent for video production & oral presentation. This is not faint praise & not given lightly as I did my undergraduate degree in Broadcast Communications & worked in Radio for a while & as a Media Tech at Harvard before I enlisted in the Navy. I know just how much work this is to pull together, and ALL the research needed to write such a script. Keep up the excellent work. Am looking forward to future presentations plus the Newsletter.

excellent, concise history of Stoicism. Very much appreciated. I am so glad to have found, and now continiously practice, this branch of philosophy. it has truly transformed an extremely lost soul in I, into a functional, content, calm and collected individual. I continue to try to improve my own being, to be a productive member of society, to be virtious in all i do and say. Thank you Eiijah, and to the great sages of time. I stand shoulder to shoulder with Seneca and Marcus Aurieius....... Peace........

@24:00 I am surprised that Posidonius (135-51 BC) already believed the earth was round and tried to measure the circumference of the earth. Didn’t all the human beings think the earth was flat at that time until Ferdinand Magellan and Juan Sebastian Elcano’s circumnavigation in the 16th century?

I believe it first appears in the writings of Ancient Greek within the 5th century BC so waaaaay before 16th century, but this was a myth created within the 16th century that all medieval humans thought the earth was flat however it was only a myth. This can lead us to the importance of ancient teachings rather than more recent re-written ones?

Thank you for your kind words! It's always great to see others exploring Stoicism. One of my favorite Stoic quotes is from Marcus Aurelius: "You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength." This resonates deeply because it highlights the importance of internal control and peace, especially in challenging situations. How do you interpret the idea of focusing on what we can control, rather than external events? Does it change how you approach difficulties in life?
