I don't even want to compare this to King Diamond... Portrait has really become their own unique sound over the years, and it's amazing. This album is so well-rounded, and has become a part of my heavy rotation. 10/10!
Certainly, I came to listen to this album because I saw in a "Bangers" review and the reviewer said it "sounded like King Diamond" lol. Really good band!!!!

Stelios F Just before Portrait, I listened to Vulture "The Guillotine" 2017, which in fact, is a killer album. After the mentioned Vulture's album, Portrait sounds to me average and uninspired now.
This has got to be my favourite album of 2017 (and I have done my research on what's been released that year!). Great playing, soaring vocals, killer songwriting, just an amazing record overall. Well done guys!
I've listening and know the Attic band and their new album it's pretty good. It's a good band but they're new to the scene, i'm just following Portrait for years now :) I like Attic as well
I was disappointed by how tame "Crossroads" was but this is a return to form with the best parts of "Crimen Laesae Majestatis Divinae" back in almost full force.
@@Olegstuff21986 too many easygoing midtempo portions that are decent riff-per-riff but as whole songs, just don't have that same infernal, apocalyptic intensity that put them ahead of the "NWOTHM" pack in 2011.
Instinctive musical comparisons are but our creative imagination working - it can be suggestive but never accurate on the ears of those who've studied and know actual music. Having said that, i'm imagining interesting resemblances and crosspollinations involving Virgin Steele, Fates Warning and Sieges Even, but there you go, that's just my imagination. The KD connection just might come from the compositional structure and harmonic guitar intros and passages. I'm ordering. That's how Metal lives on.

Attic is incredible! As far as bands like Portrait and Them they are just using the titles of Kings songs to name their bands. They are not trying to sound like Kin at all and they dont

Not copying, more like stealing King's thoughts and evolve the established status On the other hand Attic's music has minimum to zero similarities to King Diamond. It's too harmonized and melodic to recall King's heaviness. You just fell for the mimic behind the mic who can't even backing his own self.

Great band. Just discovered them and bought the vinyl of At One with None and working my way backwards to hear more.

Check out Attic too for a killer band with very King Diamond vocals. They have 3 albums out and their new album just came out and its great.
