Guys, honestly thank you so much, without this video clip I would not have knows how to change the bulbs as I was really struggling to reach bulbs without taking the light out. Thanks guys. 😊
Thanks for the helpful video. If you are interested the loose screw is caused because someone has lost the little plastic screw retainer from your car. If you look at the video where that loose screw should locate is a small square hole in the wing/rear fender panel. it is clearly missing the small white plastic screw retainer that is intended to twist-lock into place. However, 2 screws is plenty!
If you just need to change a bulb you can do it without removing the whole light. The bulbs can be reached via the access panels if you have a medium sized to small hands... if you dont you will need lots of plasters and a good collections of swear words. Be very carefull removing the trim as the plastic tabs are delicate and become weaker over time!
i dont understand why all these videos show the trim being remover from the outside if you press your plyer in from the inside, you can just lift it off, without breaking any of the connectors...
Hi, can you add the link please for the wiring for the cluster connector, as my daughter has a mini one 2011 which one of the brake lights fails to come on, bulbs been replaced but no joy so is either the cluster or possibly loose wire on the cluster. Thanks
and this my friends, is why you dont go to Halfords to get a bulb changed. One of my customers has just come in with now nothing working on one side having been there whilst in Plymouth.....
Be careful when twisting in bulb holders, they are all interchageable, if not twisted to correct place lamps will not work. Bulbs are all 12v/21w but act as Stop (21w) & Tail (5w).
Had the exact same problem on my r56, took the whole component out and the plastic bulb holder had melted and welded itself to the component. Easiest thing to do was just to order a whole new unit (for one stinking bulb) in the end.
Well, this video rather shows how to remove your tail light with high chances of braking the tabs (clips) on it. It may be done very easily if you follow it. The correct way to remove the trim is to stick your pry bar (ideally a plastic one) between the tail light and the trim.
Is it possible to get into the inside of the outer lens? I power washed the car last week and water must have got inside as both lenses are badly misted up. Word of warning to others: Don't hit the lights with a power washer.
@@fixitman2174 Cool. Can’t wait for the light 💡warning to go away! 😆 Thanks for the video. My top brake light was snug as hell. I tried to go gentle with a little pry tool and easy grip with a cloth over the bulb housing. Eventually it loosened up without me breaking it.
What tail light model was put in ? I need to order a right rear light and I do not know whether it is R56 or R57, but it is the same one as in this video
Not sure if you still need this information, but the light put in was the newer LCI version and the one taken out was pre-LCI (they moved the reversing lights to the bumper/fog area in the LCI models) HTH
Lol " race spec".... Gotta love a mini , exp the jcw's ! I've had a few minis now buy the r53 definitely is the best built , most reliable mini by far !
I have worked on a dozen R56 for the past few years. It would be a good day if u can remove the chrome trim without breaking any of those tabs on the light assembly.... and... I don't know how u could reach the bottom clip. God damn stupid design if I have to comment. When I can manage to take off the assembly, I will just chop off the stupid clips! And it is never the light bulbs. It is the socket holder contact points or the plastic simply MELTED. Use jumper wire with quick connectors to bypass or soldering to make permanent contact points. Damn Mini. They have been making the same for a decade or more and making improvement, or fixing bad design is never on their mind.
such a light hearted video. love it

Thanks for the informative video. Super cool you mentioned the 2 lights.
Glad it was helpful!
There must be some major differences in R56 between markets. We just replaced our rear bulbs through the access panel in the boot.
Clear instructions, thanks for that video.
Hi Great video very helpful, did you do a video about the wirinig as well ?
that whould be great!

Hi - thanks for the tips... i am imagining a big Dutch trucker with plasters on his hands !
He did mention this, but it was incredibly useful to see what the back of the unit looked like while it was out!
Thanks for saving me $500 in this video
This is a great video, thanks for sharing.

Great video thanks. Do front fogs before Thursday please lol

Love Halfords !
Very useful information, thanks

Can anyone tell me which colour of cable is the 12v for the reversing light? I need to splice into this for a reversing camera.
Whenever I try to twist the brake light it doesn’t move at all. It’s like if it’s stuck or something. I want to replace the top bulb
i have the exact same problem! removing the lens housing, along with using some pliers made replacing the light bulb possible. what a hassle.
carreteras101 Yeah I was thinking I have to do that as well. So much work just to change a simple brake light smh
I'm having the same exact problem on the right tail light.

You can take a Hair drier and dry it out (remove one bulb from inside the trunk). Just don’t melt the plastic
After you switched the bulb. How do you turn off the warning light
If you install the correct bulb, it will turn itself off.

👍
I took like 30 minutes to do that why haha
Maybe because you are focused on fighting crime....
Stupid set up chrome trim can break and then you get tamper screws then no room to unclip bottom crap car bmw
Kind of agree with you !
Hahaha completely wrong haha
