The Villages are surrounded by countless lakes and waterways. It is fun to be on the water, but boats are rare within The Villages. There simply isn’t enough storage space for kayaks or boats. Even pulley systems and wall mounts are impractical in most cases. Jerry and Linda have found a way to enjoy the water and have access to a boat anytime they want. The Advanced Elements Island Voyage II inflatable kayak.
Folding to the size of a suitcase, and weighing only 31.5 pounds, it is completely doable for the Newcomers. It even fits on the back of a golf cart to be transported to local ponds and lakes. For longer trips, to Crystal River, Kings Bay, or any of the other beautiful bodies of water near here, the entire system can be placed in the trunk of a car. It takes about 15-20 minutes from the car to be in the water paddling away. Great exercise for the mind and body. We will post more videos as we head out to Florida adventures in our Island Voyage II.
We would like to thank everyone for watching our videos.

Please, please be sure that you have and use PFD (personal flotation devices) for each of you, including Gizmo, even if you are only going ten feet from shore. I am an experienced kayaker and nearly drowned once in a small fishing pond when I skipped putting on my PFD since I was going so close to shore. Great video to introduce your new toy-- have fun and be safe!
The Vanna White arm wave Linda gave us showing the Velcro was classic. Can't wait to see it on the water.
Good luck and be careful of alligators!
I’m an avid kayaker and am relocating to Florida in the next few months. I have a hard shell kayak but my son has the inflatable one you have. One storage tip for inflatables in hot climates.... don’t leave it in the box. Heat causes the vinyl to get brittle and crack. PFDs for all on board as well as a waterproof box for phones and keys and a LOUD whistle for emergencies are must haves also. 😊
It's amazing she got it back in the bag. Good job Linda.
Thanks, Mike!
You guys are the cutest couple. And look the same as your high school photos on Facebook. Not doubt voted cutest back then, right? I had no idea how active you all are, and well organized. “Rookies” maybe but not deterred- not snakes 🐍 nor alligators 🐊 will prevent a fun day out!! Thx for sharing.
Hmmm 🤔 Stay safe, Jerry and Linda...you are more brave than me!
I would seriously have a heart attack if I took this thing out onto a lake in Florida!! No way! I had a heart attack just seeing a huge, HUGE black spider in our basement the other day!! You both are brave! Be safe and enjoy!!
Linda really is amazing! She makes everything look so easy. And you, Jerry, are too funny. Can't wait to see the kayaking vid!! ✌❤😊
Yes, she is! Thanks, Jennifer.
Linda is such a good sport. Thanks.
For people who don't want to use a hand pump I would highly recommend the Ryobi P747 dual function inflator. It has a high pressure/low volume side for car tires and a low pressure/high volume side that's perfect for inflatables. The pump runs about $50 on Amazon and if you don't have a 18v Ryobi battery an aftermarket battery and charger is about $60 on Amazon. You would need the buy the correct nozzle fitting for your inflatable and hook it up to the hose on the pump but that should be fairly easy.
I have an 11' inflatable dinghy that I use on inland lakes here in Michigan and it would take me a half hour to pump it up with a hand pump. By the time I was finished I was beat so after a couple of times with the hand pump I bought the Ryobi and it is a game changer! It inflates the dinghy in 5 minutes and the battery lasts 5 or 6 inflates before it needs a recharge. The kayak holds a lot less air than a dinghy so a hand pump is good for most but if someone has some physical limitations there is a good alternative.
We're hoping to buy a home in the Villages later this year so I'll see you when I get there!
Alan Weiland Alan, I was thinking the same. Good advice. I was thinking with the Florida heat, and watching Jerry pump that up in slo mo, lol, I’m buying the polyurethane model- with reptile repellent bottom coating. Hahaa!
Have fun, be safe! Look forward to seeing videos of your adventures on the water!
Fantastic demonstration video for your new adventure! I can't wait to see you both out in the many lakes with your new toy!
Always look forward to your adventures. Love you guys stay well and happy
Can't wait to see y'all out on the lake! Thanks for sharing...
Good looking kayak looks well made . Looking forward to see the maiden voyage.
Fun video... enjoy your new adventure!
I’m really enjoying seeing you guys and these videos. I hope you enjoy the heck out of being on the water. Make Linda sit in front , my wife sits in back and doesn’t paddle.
😂😂😂😂
best of luck on your maiden voyage; the inflatable does seem like a lot of work though - can't you all get an ocean kayak for $400 and store it in your garage about your golf cart; all is cool now but I worry about gators and future heart attacks pumping up the kayak; you two are awesome people who I really hope to meet someday (2021 maybe).
Great job!!! That looks so cool!👏👏👏
You gonna get in trouble Jerry talking about Linda’s weight. Great video and very nice kayak.
You guys are great!! That is a really cool kayak! Thanks for the helpful post! Can't wait for the video of you using it!! Good luck and stay safe! ❤
Thanks, Lisa!
Looking Forward To Your New Water Adventures, Great Job Jerry and Linda 👍🌴👌
Nice job guys ! Thank you :)
I'm all caught up on your channel (add it to the binge watch list!), and you've got my heart pounding for tomorrow's big adventure. Will be tuning in at 9a!
Thanks, Morgan... hope we don't disappoint.
Congratulations on your new Island Voyager. Can't wait to see you on the lake. Have fun! Just don't pull it up on rocks of a shore. We did that with a white water raft and the one side blew up. Sure made for some memories.
I admire the way you two go after life! Looking forward to some kayak video episodes.
Thanks, Tom!
Thanks for the educational video. We had never seen an inflatable kayak before. We hope you have fun. Can't wait to see you on the water. Just watch out for the alligators. See you when we get there!
Looks like fun!!! Can’t wait for your next video!
Thank you for the demo!
Love your videos, Linda & Jerry...but I have read some pretty scary stories about the alligators ....stay safe!!🤗💕
We will! Thanks!
Thanks for sharing 😎! It’s a great workout, too! Keep enjoying 😉😘!
That was interesting, I can't wait for the next instalment.
My parents have passed and watching your channel has brought back all of the sweet memories.Gizmo is a doll too lol. You guys are the cutest and most fun couple to explore with. Stay happy and safe and keep these fun videos coming :).
Thanks, Ellen, sorry about your folks. Come along with us anytime. 🙂🙂
So happy you found the right Kayak....You picked a nice one and you have room to store it., but to much work for me to pump lol Need a man to do that lol And I will enjoy!!! Have fun and be safe and always wear your safety vest and Gizmo too!
You guys are truly what hard working American Couples that love each other have to look forward too. I just love your videos so much. I can not wait to see the launch. You guys are just so adorable! Be Safe and Have fun. Give Gizmo a Pat Pat for us. Watching from Cincinnati. 🙏🦋🤗🚣
Thank you Sandy! So nice of you. We used to go to Cincy to cheer on the Reds! All the way back to Crosley Field.
@@JERRYANDLINDA Oh yes Good Old Crosley Field! I remember that well!
I love the two of you!
Always a pleasure to watch you! Did Linda find her glasses? You could see them fly off! Lol
Cool, so fun! A few hints..... take a sharpie marker and mark the backside (gray) with a long line down the side as fold guides, perfect fold ever time to make it fit back in the bag. Also you can buy a electric pump that would work off your car battery, and it also has a reverse mode. Can’t wait to see water pictures and videos, enjoy!
Linda did all the hard work.
Always does!
Beautifully explained.....thank you...
The amazing thing was inflating it then when you deflated getting it back into its original package great job
She's great packer!
Good morning Jerry and Linda 😀Thank you for this! Very helpful ✅ Both the ease of storage and weight are huge selling points. Being able to easily carry this just “seals the deal” for me. I have been on the fence about what type of kayak I want and you pretty much have sold me on the inflatable. I can actually store it easily. That way it’s already inflated and just have to pop in grab and go (after checking the inflation).I will be more likely to use this over a hard shell. Again thank you! You really made some excellent points and helped me to decide 😀 Looking forward to your next videos and appreciate the time and effort. Take care and God bless!
Great! You're probably not supposed to leave it inflated... at least not fully. That would defeat the easily stored part of the equation.
THE VILLAGES FLORIDA NEWCOMERS Good point about leaving it inflated. I will check with the manufacturer. Thank you! (Storage is not an issue for me as I have a huge metal building built for our “toys”)
Thanks again!
Another way to stay together , thanks for the video.
If and when you ever decide to go with a hard shell kayak , please consider a self bailing , sit on top style . I know you said you had too little room but remember that you can install storage racks or a pulley system to keep it high and out of the way . There are many overhead storage options out there . I really enjoy your channel . Great video and stay safe .
We like many things about the hard shell, but we cannot figure out storage for it. The ceiling wont work and zero wall space.
THE VILLAGES FLORIDA NEWCOMERS 👍
Nice demonstration guys. Stay safe.
You OK Carol? You were #121! 😄
@@JERRYANDLINDA
I know. I didn't get a notice for this video. I just happened to stumble upon it.
😫😥😢😭
Great job 🤗
Keep enjoying life, have fun. STAY SAFE.😍
All that work and you didn't even get a little paddle around a pond! What a nifty little contraption. I think it would fit in our new pool very nicely.🛶
We went yesterday! Catch the episode on Monday at 9AM. Thanks, Ann!
Good job Hoosiers! Next we’ll have to see it on the water !
Tune in Monday at 9AM!
Good job, when I first saw it I thought , WHAT. Now we will be watching for fun in the water video. No kidding it looks like a nice one . Don’t for get your life jackets, and watch out for them big o Florida Gators. Have fun,God bless, love ya
Enjoy!
Have fun canoeing 🛶🤗
Great video!
How fun! There'll be no stopping you now! :-)
Advanced Elements kayaks are the best. We have 2 singles and enjoy exploring the waters in Southern southeast Alaska.
That's great!!! We need to use ours more but Linda's afraid of gators down here!
Just be sure to wear your personal flotation devices, PFD. Cool beans. Just in case, take some appropriate waterproof tape with you when you kayak. You pumped about forty times on each side or just under. Never mind about the tape. I type as I go so didn’t know it came with a repair kit.
Watch out for Gator's. And have fun. Be watching from Illinois.
Linda keeps a sharp eye peeled.
Be safe and have some water fun!
Looking forward to the launch. Paddles up. Don't give into the pier pressure."
Pier pressure... We see what you did there. 😁
Love to see the retakes on this video.
One take Linda! 😉
Happy trails to you! Please beware of alligators. They are the reason people don't utilize all of these beautiful lakes down here (compared to "up North"). You have a convenient place to strap down your PFD's until you get into the Kayak. Please be safe and bring a fishing license & pole so you can legally bring a firearm with you, just saying (LOL). Best regards, *Liz*
Another great video !! It looks like it should be a lot of fun. Are you going to christen it with a bottle of champagne on your first voyage ? You might check out a battery operated pump - we use one that takes D cells for our air mattress and it’s small and lightweight. Looking forward to the launch video !
Bought a couple of those last year, worked great in the spring but during summer the inside plastic gets to hot and sticky! Good job getting it back in the box! Going be fun when the gator comes up next to you in the rubber dingy! ha
🙄🥴🤔
Unrelated to this video, I saw your video on dog parks today (no comments allowed). I have a best friend who works for a very good veterinarian, she would not go to a dog park. There is potential for your dear little Gismo to get hurt. Love your channel. John
Thank you John, we appreciate it. The dog parks here are separated. One for 30 pounds or under, and one for larger dogs.
Re Dog Park: I did note there is weight separation. According to my veterinarian friend, they get little dogs being attacked by other little dogs. She mentioned that you don’t know whether all dogs have been properly vaccinated & if sweet little Gizmo gets even a small pull on the neck make sure you take him to a good vet just in in case the skin is even slightly broken. All the best. Sincerely, John
Great job guys, that video should be on the Kayaks website for assembly. Perhaps roll up the seats in the Kayak when going in the bag.
Thanks, Mark!
Go to Walmart and get one of the deflate/inflate machine's they don't cost that much and can deflate faster when you are ready to take it down. I use it for my pool toys (king/queen size air mattress) great help inflating and deflating. I think they are around the car cleaning section.
We will look into it! Thanks!
Linda you are great😀
Thank you, Maria!
I could imagine this boat with Sea Eagle inflatable seat
If you really get into it,a solid kayak tracks well, but that is good as you say for lakes. I kayak the 30 acre lake behind our house by Fort Pierce ,and I jokingly call it Southern Kayaking, keep it in front of me as I get in lake. Just north we have no joke gators at ten to twelve, but no issue just be respectful.
Thanks Andrew, Linda is still nervous about kayaking in the lakes around here.
ALLIGATORS!!!!!😲 NOPE!!!!..The norths looking better and better to us!!!! BE SAFE!!!!!🖒🖒
Nice
Yes the Vana White hand action was a nice touch. Can I buy a vowel?😊
looks great, great video ...... BUT WARNING! a few years ago a toddler was attacked by a Gator on Disney property,
and they were talking about it on a radio show. well a Florida native called in and said those folks were not natives,
because every one knows , NO NATIVES would get near a pond , or lake , or drainage pond because they assume Gators are
in any little body of water! Be very careful,we don't want you guys to get in trouble ❤️
Thanks, we appreciate your concern.
I read stories like that- just walking near a pond with your dog has caused alligators to attack and kill-I wouldn’t take the chance!! Please stay safe, Linda and Jerry ☺️💕
Aren’t you afraid of the alligators biting the inflatable kayak. That would sink the inflatable kayak and both of you and Gizmo would be vulnerable to attack by the alligators. Kayaks are pretty unstable boats, and could tip over! Personally, I don’t care for canoes or kayaks because they are quite unstable boats, easy to tip over.
You might think about ordering a couple spare valve attachments in case the one valve attachment gets lost. The extra valve attachments might be available for a limited time if the kayak models change in the future. Maybe an battery operated air pump would make inflating the kayak much easier.
Couldn’t you store a normal kayak in your garage above your car or golf cart, suspended from the garage ceiling?
Lots of good points... no to the storage. Never heard of gators biting an inflatable.
First thing we did when in New boat practiced flip and recovery into boat. Assume its possible.. tie your items onto some part, clip
Great advice. Wonder if we can practice that in the neighborhood pool? 😁
Hey, Guys be Very Careful..! Gators have attacked and Killed Kayakers Before..! Google it.
Mmmm. Reminds me of Marlin & Stan - Wild Kingdom adventure
😄😁
Do they make bear spray for gators? What will you name your Kayak? Maybe Lake Lizard. Always enjoy your shows! Jeanne
We are working on that! It's like naming a baby.
Hope you don’t run into any of ‘Larry’s’ cousins. Be safe.
That was awesome !!! Are you worried about Gizmo's nails poking holes in the boat?
Not in this one. It's very durable.
@@JERRYANDLINDA Good to know! We are looking into kayaks to purchase. One of the places you should kayak is the Rainbow River .... its not too far from us here in TV and my favorite place in all of FL!!
Dog jackets are available from boating stores. Have a handle on back too. Not the just for style jackets.
So does the Villages have like some kind of a storage lot or facility that if you have a boat, RV or other trailer, you could park/store there?
No, but there are some outside The Villages.
Hi Jerry and Linda , thats a great idea having a inflatable kayak you can keep in your car to use whenever. Is there a big concern about the alligators you may be sharing the water with? Stay safe.
Always a concern, but realistically it's rare.
Linda are there extra fees involved to join water aerobics? Do you have to sign up? Water aerobics is my one love. (Double knee replacements).
No fees, Jean... when the seasonal residents are here you must arrive early or it fills up.
I still think an alligator could get you or snakes. Be safe. Great video 👍
Snakes... nah. Gators... well....
Go vanna go
No life jackets
I would say forget it as a kayak in The Villages gator ponds and instead use it as an outdoor cooling pool for the family. Lol
😀😀😀
Didnt mention them, but we do in the sequel, airing on Monday. 🙂
Gingers kick ass.
👨🦰 We try!
Where can you kayak in The Villages with your own kayak?
Lots of places... Just about all water with public access (not across personal property)
Just a suggestion- It seems like quite a bit of work each time. Is there any way you could keep it inflated in your garage. You could get a larger 3 row SUV that would allow you to flip seats & stuff it in the back. Let it hang out at the back with bungee cords. You may not have enough room. Be careful on real hot days. We don’t want any heart attacks. ❤️ John & Corey-Ann Toronto Canada
We guess you could, but it is not recommended. You could also use an electric pump until it got to a certain stage and then finish off with a hand pump.
THE VILLAGES FLORIDA NEWCOMERS An electric pump might be good. Unfortunately it’s one more thing to carry. Maybe a pump could be fitted to your golf cart battery. Jerry, you seemed to be breathing pretty hard & we worry it could be dangerous as the day gets hotter. All the best.
It was a hot day, and I am out of shape.
@@JERRYANDLINDA I’ve got out of shape with this virus lockdown too. Take care. John
Jerry did you puff and huff???
the middle "velcro"
is NOT for "longer legs"
its for when you want it in "single person" setup.
Which lake are you headed to first?
A nameless lake near Rohan Rec. Center.
Where do you store your kayak at home?
It's in a bag in our garage.
Have to dry it before packing after trip?
We did... air dry.
@@JERRYANDLINDA Thanks for response. Hope you had fun!
Didn't you all just see an alligator in the villages? I wonder how alligator teeth proof that is? For me, I'd maybe rent a pontoon boat?
An alligator? Try hundreds.
Your my hero god bless
Is there a weight limit?
Yep. 400 lbs.
THE VILLAGES FLORIDA NEWCOMERS thank you.
You say foot pump..I say hand pump ...waddever! Thanks for the vid, now get out and use use it! PS I counted 85 pumps to fill it...(hint get the batt pump), just sayin. Love yall
I caught that too late... waddayagonna do? 😄
Aren’t you afraid of the gators?
Well, I don't want them too close.
Thousands of lakes thousands of alligators...alligators love little dogs. Be wary don’t tip. Be safe.
Gator Bait
You are fn nuts t get in the water with that thing aligaters will eat you
Social distancing? No problem!
You can change your mind. Just saying.
Linda might. :-)
