I grew up in Los Angeles and citrus trees were in all of my neighbor's yards, I still remember the strong and inescapable scent of citrus blossoms in the spring air!
I want to give a HUGE thank you to all of the skilled agricultural workers in all of your video's, without their hard work and skill we wouldn't be able to enjoy the " fruits of their labor" we all take for granted everytime I go to the grocery store, so, I thank you
In South Louisiana, we had a Satsumas tree, which the fruit would be green, maybe with a few specks of orange, but a cold snap hits them, they were ready then. Sweet and tasty. Beats anything one finds in grocery stores.

Got introduced to the series with your "Cranberries" episode. All your videos produced are wonderfully done. Great job! I must say your voice and face makes it even more beautiful.
I live here and I could never take for granted these beautiful orange groves. Driving down highway 76 past all the citrus makes me feel like it's heaven. Thank you for this episode.

Awesome!! very informative. Presentation throughout this video was superb and mesmerising, I began to love Oranges more after watching this video... Nicole, you rock!!
I'm glad you also inform others with facts about the risks our plants face. Being from Orange County myself it makes me very sad. My backyard is a nature reserve that almost got taken away from me and my neighbors due to real estate (a bribe was involved). It just gets more and more crowded here... So many beautiful childhood memories that I can always revisit by sitting out there, would have been a shame. I'm sure the owner of the grove has some similar memories with his setting. Anyways there's always hope! We will keep adapting and problem solve.
Greed should not be allowed to dominate our world. And it would be so cool if everyone that was able, grew fruits or veg on their property...we could all barter and exchange foods. 🤔
I worked this past winter/spring harvesting mandarins/oranges/lemon. Here in Spain most of the time we collect the fruit in medium sized black plastinc buckets, then proceed to dump all the fruit in plastic boxes (they can hold up to 20/22 kilos of fruit). We harvest the fruit by hand cutting right in the spot where the little stem conects the fruit to the rest of the tree. Sidenote, Valencias are the worst verity to harverst IMO, the trees are HUGE making it really hard to reach all the fruit real fast. We got paid by the box, the more boxes we make the more we earn that day so we had to do it really fast all day long or untill we fill all the boxes available that day. We also had to load all the boxes into the truck that carries them to their destination, imagine having to build a pallet of 6~8 (20~22 kilos) boxes tall by 3 in the base and repeat it till you load a 24 to 30 pallet truck o_o (of course we had to do this between 4-8 people but it was very physically exhausting)
TRUE FOOD - How Does it Grow? Yeah it is but someone has to do it you know. Anyway thanks for making all these amazing videos, I really enjoy watching them! Keep up the great work ✌️
Thank you for showing the hard working people who grow our food. They deserve more recognition. Also, your channel has become so polished and professional that I don't understand why you don't get picked up by Food Network. I'd rather watch your show then another cooking competition!

In South Louisiana we had a naval orange, satsumas and cumquats. Thing is, come the fall, the satsuma I know would still be green, maybe with specks of orange when a cold snap would hit and they were the best. Plaquemine parish. They grew plenty of satsumas and naval oranges. How they survived after Katrina, I do not know.
And another amazing video! Love watching these! I now have a new found appreciation for the orange and the growers /pickers! I can really feel your passion in educating people on these things. You are making a difference. :)
Interesting fact is that the trees themselves are pruned to maximise production and picking.. If you left one of the trees to go wild, even if its grafted, it'll get huge
These series are beautiful and informative, I am mesmerized by the unpredictability of the result of planting an orange seed (I did saw the Apples video but still crazy). I also mesmerized by how nice the presenter is, she seems smart communicative and her enthusiasms and happiness is contagious, one spends the video smiling. You learn in the best possible way. The fact that she is able to communicate in Spanish helps a lot in some of the videos. The videos are masterfully crafted so my admiration goes for the whole team. Keep them coming.
My daughter and I stumbled across your channel when she wanted to know how an apple grew. Well we didn't stop at apples and here we are at oranges. We find your show entertaining and informative and have now subscribed. Thank you!

Hi Nicole, thanks for another great episode. I live in Indonesia, just right on invisible equator line. Here, our best selling oranges are shiny army green, known as Pontianak Orange (Citrus nobility var. Microcarpa). Easy to open without any white pith. Oh, and since we live in equator, the whole tree will be as sweet as another 😉

When I was a girl, I lived in "Orange County Calif." and there were many beautiful orange groves. We played baseball with the unripe ones, threw overripe ones as bombs, and ate every one we could. Now, they are all gone there...how sad. The sweet orange blossom has been the official Bridal flower for centuries and the smell is indeed heavenly. How I miss them. But the groves are all still alive and thriving in my mind and this old heart. Thank you for your great video.
TRUE FOOD - How Does it Grow? There is a bright side, you end up telling us why/ how to do things right. Always great videos with great content. I'm always learning.

Another great video from Nichole. These videos not only make me appreciate food, but the areas in which they're grown. Such a beautiful country we have, let's keep it that way and be smart about our resources. Long live food! (And her videos please :-)
in indonesia oranges are called "jeruk". we eat various types of oranges, but the green ones are more popular, so in first grade when my english teacher said that the common english word for "jeruk" is "orange", i started having existential crisis.
TRUE FOOD TV , I'm looking forward to seeing a lot more videos on other crops. And please do on pomegranate as all are requesting. Thank you in advance.
I can attest to the orange diseases that is happening in FL right now. I have 3 orange trees and requires constant upkeep to keep it healthy. My Cara Cara orange tree (about 7 feet tall) just died last month because of root rotting disease, before that it was devastated by leaf miners, and other diseases that causes foliage die back. My recent orange tree that I was growing in a pot, I went on a vacation for a month, came back and 2/3 of the foliage was devastated by leaf miner, aphids, and fungal disease that cause one of the main branch to die off. So yeah...growing orange here in FL is a huge PIA and requires time and resources to keep it happy and disease free.
You got that right. In Plaqumines Parish in Louisiana, plenty of delicious satsumas and naval oranges are available, or were. We had both in our backyard. They'd be dark green with maybe a couple of specks of orange, but after a major cold snap, they were very sweet and delicious.
background music is so peaceful. ...and your voice too..and the places you visit...and the editing and the camera man who takes the brilliant and soothing shots...and...and....everything is so beautifully decorated...it feels great after watching your episode... plz go more more crops ... waiting for Rice crops
Oh my gosh. I was really much awaited to see this orange county. Finally, you guys made it. Thanks a lot to your team and especially to you Nicole. Do you still have your new brand name or reversed it to How does it grow? the older one?

Another great video from Nichole. These videos not only make me appreciate food, but the areas in which they're grown. Such a beautiful country we have, let's keep it that way and be smart about our resources. Long live food! (And her videos please :-)

in indonesia oranges are called "jeruk". we eat various types of oranges, but the green ones are more popular, so in first grade when my english teacher said that the common english word for "jeruk" is "orange", i started having existential crisis.
Hahaha! I can understand!!
Bill is the kind of hero we need more of. His passion and work help us all have delicious organic oranges.
Thank you Bill. ❤️

0:52 You can literally insert anything here and it would come out funny
"Who feels people up in a crowded bus?" "This guy!"
I feel for you! It's really tough.
You got that right. In Plaqumines Parish in Louisiana, plenty of delicious satsumas and naval oranges are available, or were. We had both in our backyard. They'd be dark green with maybe a couple of specks of orange, but after a major cold snap, they were very sweet and delicious.
Haha this is perfect as I have just bought an orange tree today! :D
thank you for such high quality content
How's that for timing?! Good luck with your tree!
background music is so peaceful. ...and your voice too..and the places you visit...and the editing and the camera man who takes the brilliant and soothing shots...and...and....everything is so beautifully decorated...it feels great after watching your episode...
plz go more more crops ...
waiting for Rice crops
I'm so glad you enjoy the videos - thank you! I am dying to do rice. But I have to find a way to get my crew to a major rice growing region!
Oh my gosh. I was really much awaited to see this orange county. Finally, you guys made it. Thanks a lot to your team and especially to you Nicole. Do you still have your new brand name or reversed it to How does it grow? the older one?
Hey, thanks! Our brand/channel name is still True Food. But this series, where we go to the farms, is still called How Does it Grow?. :)
TRUE FOOD - How Does it Grow? Oh! I see. Well as you have a new channel name True Food, I have a brand new RUclips profile name changed from Sanjan San to Forbidden Citizen just for a change :). Once again thanks a lot for this video.
Love your channel! Very informative!
