  • Building the Tamiya Fighting Buggy 2014 based on the Super Champ from 1982...
    The Fighting Buggy was originally exported as the Super Champ in 1982 across the globe. For a limited time only, it is back as a special re-release celebrating 30-plus years after it originally made its debut in hobby stores.
    The re-release kit begins with a new name, which is the same as that used by the original Japanese release of the R/C model. While it features a variety of tweaks and upgrades, Tamiya's designers made sure to retain the drivability, appearance and characteristics of the original.

    Sweet production. I never noticed that these had that cool external damper reservoir before, very cool.

    Inside I am crying... When I was younger I had one and it was an original 1980s one, but one day I needed money, so I ended up selling it for a whopping $15. Now I see how much they cost. 😑 sigggghhhhhh.....

      Isaac Preston I know the feeling,I traded a Grasshopper for a Walkman which didn’t last a month

      I sold my Optima mid custom special and used the money to buy a Walkman in the early 90's. This year I finally got a replacement car not a optima mid unfortunately but a associated b64 instead. But I wish I still had the Kyosho just for the memories I'm hoping for a re-release.

      I wanted this RC car when I first saw it a Sears Christmas catalog and when it appeared on one of the episodes of Silver Spoons.

    Great little video, thanks. As someone who's just started restoring the Ford Ranger I got for my 9th birthday in 1981 (and have thus been studying every single part) it's interesting to see how much of this model re-used Ford Ranger / Rough Rider / Sand Scorcher components (eg gearbox assembly, front suspension assembly).

    This would have been a much better buggy to build and run compared to my Hornet.

    Dam I'm old. I had this car 35 yrs ago and was 15 at the time!!! Presume the batteries last longer than the original Nicad ones and the speed controller is digital now that's nice.

    You used WAAY too much red threadlock! You'll never get those grub screws out!

    • @gregoryguza4623
      @gregoryguza4623 6 лет назад

      It’s a red gel thread locker that comes in the kit. It’s nowhere near as strong as the red thread locker that comes in a bottle from a hardware store.

    Beautiful video.
    I am about to buy an equal kit.
    Did you use a battery to nickel, there is a reason?
    The battery must be small?

    • @GVVID
      @GVVID  8 лет назад

      Elimo hf The kit is designed for the Tamiya LF battery (M size 6.6v), these are shorter than a normal NiMH pack. The standard NiMH pack I used just fitted, personaly I don't see the need for Lipo, since the chassis is already struggeling with the standard 7.2 NiMH ;-)

    It doesn't look water proof like it Super Champ was...or am I missing something..?

    • @michaelqendro9825
      @michaelqendro9825 3 года назад

      It was a cost-saving issue so it would be cheaper than the Rough Rider or Sand Scorcher.
