In addition the substitute crowning is not done with out permission. They same way Orunmila is consulted for the tutelary Orisha, that energy is to also be petitioned to see if the substitution can take place.
I can see why one would make such an inference. But money is a motivating factor for people. It pains me to think of how people have so many godchildren! That is a lot of responsibility! !! How do you feel about godparents the receiving the Orisha themselves, so that they can give it to you? Also if I may ask, did you grow up in the Village?
Alafia, I know this video is a bit older, but I wanted clarification as to what you mean by "If they don't have that Orisha..." how would one know if they "have" that orisa or not?
I'm not her, but I think the answer is pretty simple. As you move along in life, you may or may not receive Orishas according to individual needs throughout life. If a person has not received an Orisha, they can not give that to anyone else.
wombman unspoken you’ll know whenever an Orisha has chosen you, they’ll take control of your body at times during ceremonies/rituals, they’ll give you visions and you’ll exhibit real life personality traits of them. Ase

The godparent may receive an Orisha in order to birth the crown, you are very stuck in your American evolution of the religion and it is irritating. Try to remember you are a high word for a lot of people who doesn't know the difference. Also try to remember to apply Okana Oroso. Man. You are not the high word on all houses, just because you don't agree with others ways, don't try to press your own on others. What you mean, here, is to address your own house and not the general population. In this religion we never stop learning, but it is clear to me you still got a long way to go and it's ballsy to always push your way or belief as bond. It's not right. God bless your path and make things clearer for you, this is my wish for you.
Tera Camacho before one takes on the spiritual journey or connect with the Lwa/Orishas one must first salute, appease and give worship to baba ellegua/elegba because if not satisfied/appeased he’ll cause you confusion as he’s the divine trickster. Ase
@@sunofshangoihate45thihated85 also, I think you must be referring to Eshu (trickster), Elegua must be attended before anyone, besides the ancestral lineages. Elegua does not "confuse" anyone, he will allow you to choose your path and will go down it with you even as he laughs at you for making the choice. Eshu and Elegua different faces, but shares same space.
I don’t deal Santería I deal direct and raw orisa closest to that of Benin, Nigeria. Esu/ellegua/elegba only Orishas deity who can multiply/duplicate himself also was given permission by his father Oludumare to visit each element which is govern is by the other Orishas
You have to understand that Orisas like Olukun, Aggayu, Asajano(Babalu Aye) didn't come over with the Yoruba slaves to Cuba...so those secrets didn't come until later. So what is done is that a person is crowned Yemeya Oro Olukun, or Shango I to Aggayu. I am so happy that the religion has spread to north America, however. The Lukumi tradition that most practice comes from Cuba, and in Cuba there was no knowledge to crown Olukun or Aggayu properly so it went to the shoulder and Yemeya and Shango went to the head. My question for you Alafia is, where did your house get the knowledge of crowning Olukun? Cuba and Brazil are the main original sources for Yoruba, in the New World. And then either Nigeria or Benin for the original foundation.
Aggayu can be crowned directly (and yes even in Havana). It is just necessary to complete all of the ebbo and have the correct process with someone who has Aggayu.
smezier Cuba and Brasíl aren’t the powerhouse of Orishas practice the Caribbean is the powerhouse where the practice is closest of that of the motherland Haiti 🇭🇹, Trinidad 🇹🇹 and Jamaica 🇯🇲. It’s raw undiluted not synchronized with any Abrahamic religions like in Cuba and brasil where Catholic saints are mixed with the Yorubaland faith

Yes, in Cuba, my nephew is the child of Olokun he has crowned Yemaya. No trouble at all.
In Cuba, they had the secrets to initiate Olokun direct, but a lot of the old ways died with those people.
