Thanks so much for posting this video and your tips! Have the same issue, and you saved me the aggravation of going through everything you did. Now I just have to find a replacement unit. Thanks again. great Video!
Thanks for the info. Nice clear video. I have the same error message with the latest updated disc. I found a shop in Texus that repairs these units with a 60-day warranty. I would rather go and get repaired instead of buying another used one.
Sorry I don't remember the name os shop. I came acrossit on ebay search for my 2002 LS Navigation unit. The shop could not repair it. The units are so outdated that the parts are not found any more. You are better looking for an upgrade by a company by the name of Groom. To bring these cars up to date.@marcoflores9579
Do you have pictures of inside the dvd/nav. Its my understanding the reason for 'no disk' is the lazer motor has failed and no longer reads the disc. Im hoping to be able to replace this motor to fix the issue. Thanks for the video!
Dude, what did you pay for the replacement? I’m in Phoenix I can’t find it for less than $200! I just bought the subwoofer to replace the blow Mark levinson one in my ls430 and I wanna fix the nav, not to ever use it. But just to have everything working and looking neat. Loved the video though, so helpful getting mine out
@@I_Do_Cars So, my comment was serious - not sure if there is a button that needs to be pushed, or my disc is stuck in the slot; it's not self explanatory because I am unable to remove the disc to look at it/clean it as your video demonstrates. Any ideas on how to get it out?
@@bryan72562 I just went out to my truck so I could give you a decent way to do this. Put the seat all the way forward. once you remove that plate, theres a tab on the left side of the drive that says "open". Slide it to the passenger side and press the button that looks like a normal CD eject button. If that doesn't operate, it may not have a disc in it. If it did work and stopped working(and the disc is present) make sure you have powers and grounds at the drive. if the drive has its powers and grounds (Ground on toyota is usually white with a black stripe or brown), I'd replace the drive.
@@I_Do_Cars I'm pretty sure there is a disc because the navigation has worked since 2004 and recently stopped working; it must have lost power to the drive as you mentioned, because the disc won't come out. Thanks for the info.
if anyone wants to make a killing, sell a daughter board that will convert the proprietary power/data delivery system to a pc drive or even better sata (for ssd use) idk if it would be a a viable option but usb???

Do you know what the issue is if there is never an error about the disk/map data and the map button of the display does not work/doesn’t do anything?

Could you give me the shop name in Texas that repairs these navigation units?

Where did you find replacement unit?
Any idea of the price range we can expect (used to new)? Thanks!

Did you end up fixing it yourself?
I love GX's. Mine is an 03 with almost 400,000 miles.
Brandon Morris truly exception vehicles. I’ve seen countless over 350k!
Wow just got one this week with 213k let’s see what kinda miles it can dish out
03 with 252k. About to make its 5th crops country trip in the last 2 years. People keep wanting to buy it, but there’s no way we will part with it.
Hey, did you replace the DVD disc as well?
Whats the name of the part? I keep googling it but its not coming up for me.
Searched your channel and couldn’t find your vid on the source of that buzzing.
My ‘03 GS430 does exactly that.
Great video!!! How much did you pay for the replacement unit? I have a 2002 ES300 that looks to have that same unit but it is located in the trunk.

Max Davidson what year is your car?
I'm having this issue with a 2016 Lexus 200t sport. The screen is saying unable to read disk as well.
I have the same issue with the same car. How did you resolve it?
I don’t get a disc read error but the map won’t come up.
Gen 2 Prius. OEM for the headend unit is 6k and the DVD navigation drive is 7k. Wicked.
Thanks bro 😊
LOL - 1:37: It would be nice if you didn't skip how to eject the disc.
Bryan it’s pretty self explanatory, but I should’ve gotten it in the video.

Trust to find this fix with you
