I had a Dr recommend horse tail as part of treatment to help vein issues in my legs. Is supposed to help repair and strengthen veins therefore reducing pain after having a DVT. That along with pinebark.
Has it helped your vein issues?
@@DonnaMM6361 yes. I took 1000mg of each in capsule form and it helped. After six months on a blood thinner for the DVT I started 1000 Nattokinaise as well and the three have helped tremendously. It was a vein doctor (MD) who told me about these. If you are on insulin you can't take these.
It is still not clear what you took to help your veins you said you took three herbs the horsetail 1,000 mg per day and then at oaklandis 1,000 mg per day that's only two what is the third one please thank you

Thank you for sharing this information. Mi oncologist told me about horsetail for hair grow. I was on chemotherapies and lost my hair. He prescribed zinc supplements and drink horsetail tea

I used to have tea with nettles and horsetail every day. After a few years, i got canker sores on my tongue every day so i stopped. (I drink tea all day until dinner.) I’ve had two bouts of alopecia and it did help. I think i’ll go back to it without the nettles to see if that helps. Getting older means my hair is thinning where i lost it before. To strengthen, beautify hair and skin. Try hydrangea leaf tea. Rinse your hair with it and your face in it. I don't drink it....but my hair is glassy shiny now. Also don't ever use store hair products. Wash with rye water and use also a rosemary vinegar to rinse. Look up rye shampoo diy
Horsetail grows like a weed where I live in Yorkshire UK! It’s time I started using it. Thank you for posting this video. Apparently many years ago it was used for scouring pots and pans.

I’m beyond relieved to find this information. I have it in my front and back garden (I’m in Manchester) and just wanted to be rid of it. Having done a bit of internet searching, I felt very defeated after reading a blog saying that it’s to be avoided at all cost and not to put it in your compost etc; - which I had already started doing. The blog made it seem like I either needed to dig up my entire garden to get rid of the tap root that runs deep or have a company come in and basically kill my soil with chemicals. I kept thinking there must be some way I can use this plant. Finding this video is an absolute blessing. Thank you so much. If you have any videos showing the things you make that would be great to get some How-to vids. ❤

I found a wheelbarrow full in the ditch on my road.
Take a small supplement of horsetail for stress incontinence. It's the only thing I found that helped. I take it one week on and one week off. That way I get the break and the benefits spill over into the break.

Dried horsetail can be powdered and mixed with petroleum jelly and used as metal polish.
I have had meadow horsetail (eq...pratense) growing in between my paving for years. Finally found out it us useful. Have done some research and checked the stem shape inside for toxicity.
Apparently the enzyme thymine which Robb's your body of b vits is not a problem if the herb is dried or cooked first , so all good.

I take a tsp powdered American horse tail ( grows straight up from ground) a day to heal dental carries and regrow tooth enamel, along with freeze dried organ meat every day. So far it works.

You find gaint ones in the sandstone rocks here , tree trunk thick. The horsetail's ancestors predate trees and once grew hundreds of feet tall in the carboniferous period.

My phone app identified the horsetail growing here as ‘giant horsetail’ (E. telmateia). It’s along the areas of the spring and looks like yours. My horses have been eating it for years so I’m assuming it’s not toxic (cross section of the stem resembles E. arvense) but I’m hoping it has medicinal benefits like the field horsetail. The more I think I know the more I realize I don’t!
I find the same to be true and even the things I have studied and compiled information on, I am always still learning new things or having to relearn
I've got a ton of it. I put a bunch in the compost, some compost tea. I dehydrated a bunch. I'm now looking at making a ducoction for the garden.
I read though that you're supposed to pick it young before the fronds open all the way. The most silica content or something. Do u think that matters much? I waited too long apparently. I found some new shoots which I took indoors and put in the dehydrator for using in cosmetics or internally.

Question about making tinctures:
I thought the 80% alcohol was needed to make a tincture shelf stable. But what about using vegetable glycerin or wine and honey, like you mentioned
Wine, honey, and glycerin are also natural preservatives and I have never had issue with longevity

I am just now learning about an herb I'd never heard of before - elecampane. I am still researching where it'll grow, and I hope I can grow it in my area. It's supposedly really good for lung health - and here in the west (NW Montana) we get smoked out every summer and fall and my lungs have finally had about enough. I know this is an old post, but I’m in Idaho and grow Elecampane successfully in my herb garden. It’s a very tall and lovely plant and I got enough root from one last year I let my other go for a third year.

While I have not looked into each specific plant, usually such seeds are edible. Always a good idea to look into it for certain for yourself though

I would assume like any plant that it produces seed but cannot tell you where you could buy some. Etsy is usually where one is most likely find seeds that would not normally be sold in nurseries

I cook in an outdoor kitchen. Mold and mildew is a constant problem.

You must have me confused with someone else, we do not live in a hot climate. It is humid in summer though because it is a very wet climate but cool most of the year. We get very few real hot days. We get at a low annual average of 120" rainfall which is far most than most places and even 3 times more than Seattle (thus my channel name). However, yes, mold and mildew are a problem, some years more than others but usually just in the bathroom though it can often affect other areas. Having wood heat, which is very drying, helps prevent it through most of the home.
I like the wine idea, I didn't know you could use it.
I finally found some horsetail. Its in my dehydrator as we speak. I just went and looked with a magnifying glass but can't tell which pattern it has. There were no leaves on it. Just the green stalk. Are there other ways to tell the difference? I certainly don't want to use the toxic one. Thank u so much for your excellent info.
There are other ways you can tell by looking at the outside of the stem and so on. I personally found looking down the interior cross section the easiest but you can always look it up and see photos showing more differences though it can be hard to make any of them out once it is dried so it is best to go find the fresh plant again for reference

Horsetail is very invasive. I can attest to this. My Horsetail is still growing and I'm wondering if I can still gather it at this time of year? I've done tons of research found is that Spring is the best, but I've also seen where you can gather it anytime. I value your opinion Heidi; so I am confused.
I personally think that with most herbs, as long as they are still getting new growth and not turning yellow, they are good

It really depends on the person and their needs. I do not take tinctures daily, only as needed and horsetail is not something I would ever take on a regular, daily basis, but only as needed

I believe they can have their place but only if one is getting them in capsule form from a quality company. Never tablets.
I have horse tail in the form of the pull apart straight pipe without the feather like structure and I have the young tree like structure.

If you mean growing it, no I do not since it just grows wild by our other property, I do not need to try to grow it

It would take boiling to cook it out and I would not do that with the kind that can have their benefits destroyed through that
