Glad to see that the famous moose and squirrel are still popular in that part of the country. Love the original cartoon and grew up with the 2000 movie.
The larger newer version of the stage was called the Town Stage. When these turned into Boomers, the stages often stuck around and one Boomers eventually became a Bullwinkles again. The larger “3” stage includes the following: - A fire station stage that had Rocky & Bullwinkle behind double doors at the bottom. Tooter Turtle & Hoppiter Hopper are not featured. - A “Moose Club” building stage that included a decorative door at the bottom that could fit someone with antlers, a series of 9 television screens, and Boris & Natasha’s faces displayed above the scenes. - A “police station” stage that housed Dudley Do-Right who would appear behind double window doors at the top of the station. - An upper level corner stage with a billboard sign for Nelle’s pies, which would open up to reveal Underdog and his saxophone sitting on top of a mountain. For the cabin stage, the 1 stage featured the same characters that are in this video, except Boris & Natasha are stacked on top of each other as they appear to be disguised as a totem pole. The 3-stage includes Hoppity Hooper (with his harmonica) & Tooter Turtle (with his drums) in the cabin stage with Rocky & Bullwinkle. Stage left had a smaller stage with Underdog and his saxophone sitting on a chair (or toilet?), and stage right had Dudley Do-Right with a phonograph. Some cabin 1-stages had a Fantasy Fountain Show, whereas I believe all 3-stages had a fountain show.
I've been to this place a few times. We live in Kirkland Washington and pass by when we go to the airport. This is actually where I discovered Rocky and Bullwinkle. I had no idea there was a TV show until Boomerang started airing it and I recognized those characters from Family Fun Center.
I'm so excited that the Boomers by my house is now a Bullwinkles again. I remember going alot as a kid in the 90s with my family, and the animatronics very well. This location looks so cool though!
Those animatronics barely even move... you'd think that given that it's the last Rocky and Bullwinkle animatronic show that they'd want it to look good since it's a big tourist attraction...
Probably don’t have the parts/tools to repair them. That’s why Chuck E Cheese threw practically all of their own to the curb. Too expensive to maintain for very little direct profit in return.
This place is insane looking! Never heard of the older cartoon myself so this was all relatively new information to me. Now I'm interested in seeing what the older stages once looked like!
For years growing up I used to go to the local Bullwinkle’s in Raleigh, NC, from being obsessed with the animatronics/waterworks as a toddler to playing in the arcade when I was like 10. It was also the first place where my mom actually got me to eat pizza, since when I was little I refused to eat it (for some reason). It closed in 2010. Famously there was Jellybeans roller rink next door with the giant roller skate car parked out front.
I'd assumed all of these were closed. I grew up on Long Island and the Bullwinkles became Boomers when i was a kid. They closed in 2020 during COVID but kept the Cabin set until the very end
Sadly, younger generation's don't know about Rocky and Bullwinkle. I loved the original cartoon show, most of the jokes were actually directed at adults. That one portrait was Snydley Whiplash not Boris. Whiplash was the antagonist of Dudly Doright
I grew up with the 2000 movie and saw the series on TV Land back in the late 2000s. One critique I have with the cartoon, it's not the animation it's the plot of episodes abruptly being interrupted for other segments. Otherwise I love the characters they evoke the classic cartoon tropes we lost during the 60s.
THANK YOU for uploading this!!! And for coming here. Love the detail you put into this. So sad Bullwinkle can’t blink anymore and that Natasha’s mouth doesn’t move but really they’re in great condition otherwise! Some things to note, rocky and bullwinkle the tv show actually is from 1959 and went through the sixties (then syndication afterwards) not the eighties. Also, if I’m not mistaken, there’s conflicting info on the internet but I believe bullwinkles that closed turned into boomers and not the other way around (a fandom wiki site with altered history corrupted info online). The original configuration had a fantasy fountain show! Also, the most recent version does still have a three stage they’re just all gone 😢 and is what you’re talking about Toon Town? Dudley doright and underdog retired animatronics used to be kept as decorations in the ceiling on this spinning platform. When I go visit in a couple weeks I’ll see if I can find them and if they’re still there. I hope the shirt I bought from your merch store gets to me in time! I woke up early just to watch this premiere 😊!!!!
I had no idea Bullwinkle's was still around. I don't think we ever had one in Vegas but we had some similar things. We had a Scandia when I was a kid. It's similar. We had Discovery Zone too. I don't remember that one as well but we went a few times. My aunt used to take my cousins and me to Scandia a few times a year but I only went to DZ for friends' birthdays a handful of times Also, Rocky And Bullwinkle is from the 60s, not the 80s
I live in Calgary, Alberta. I used to LOVE going to Bullwinkle's as a child on MacLeod Trail. I also enjoyed going to the North to the Chuck E. Cheese (Crowfoot Location), which had the Rocker Stage and the older version of Helen. Then one day, I went to Bullwinkle's, and the animatronics were GONE! The lady told me "we're turning into a Chuck E.Cheese." I was crushed! Then, they turned into a Chuck E. Cheese and it had the ROAD stage. A year or so later, that Chuck E. Cheese closed and became a "Schanks" sports bar, and the older Crowfoot location stayed there but suddenly had a Road Stage (I suspected they took it from the MacLeod trail version). Then that one shut down too! But there was then a new "Sunridge" location but that one I believe didn't have the animatronics...I mean it did but it had one of those Studio C ones.
Your talking about the Calgary 32nd Ave CEC? they got the Road Stage from Macleod after they closed in 1994. Calgary 32nd Ave closed in 2003. There is a current location in Calgary, I forget when it opened, I think 2003-2006. (I'm not from Canada I've just research canada CEC's because they're cool)
@@WhoDidWhat17 do you know when the Macleod trail Chuck E. Cheese became Chuck E. Cheese (aka took over for bullwinkles), and what happened to the Bullwinkle animatronics????
Cool. I think there was one of those in Denver in 1983-85 when I lived there. I do know there was a "Gadgets" that had Looney Tune's animatronic when I lived there. Use to do stand-up comedy there, back in the day.
The animatronics shown here are nothing compared to the ones they had in the 80's. Even an 80's condensed show version, if they had made one, would've been impressive still. With the budget they used to pull off a FNAF SB-sized mega pizzaplex, I was hoping they'd spend some of it on a bit of animatronic R&D, or at least commission the engineer company responsible for the Bullwinkle-matronics.
Ah man, what a disappointment from my (and yours likely) childhood. It was so much better in the early 90's when I was like 8 or 9 and it was just...well if you know, you know. They had one in Upland, California I used to go to. Man, we had it good growing up, didn't we? Sucks for kids these days haha..
I had no idea that this was the last location to still have the show. I’ll have to check it out someday. Also I’m pretty sure the Upland location was a former Boomer’s and opened up after 2020 without the show. BTW Where are you planning to go to next?
I've got Corona California, Vancouver, BC, Canada and Billings Montana coming up in the next couple weeks. Those are already done. I don't have any other CEC visits on the books yet, but I'm sure a few more will happen soon
I would recommend going to the CEC store in La Mesa the next time you visit a store. They have the last Chuck E Cheese’s Pizza sign and they have a 1 Stage (though it’s in crappy condition)
How frequently did the animatronics turn around and start a song? Was there a screen that counted down to the next number? Back in the day, breaks between sets had the fountain show and a screen.
there was another show with a different 3 stage setup it was a remodeled one so some of the characters were gone but they still have the majority of the animatronics but the store closed in 2020 the Animatronics were bought and are in good hands now
Glad to see that the famous moose and squirrel are still popular in that part of the country. Love the original cartoon and grew up with the 2000 movie.
Its really not. For all its charm the family fun center is an outdated 90s arcade place. Its amazing that they still kept these things

I remember watching Rocky and Bullwinkle play on that very stage when I was younger.

I wish my mouth would loudly click every time I sang. CLICK CLICK CLICK. CLICK CLICK CLICK. Haha, for real, this is great. Thanks for recording!
