The perfect analogy for those just starting out in sound! Thanks for having me on, hope my contribution was helpful to everyone! A common thread among us were whooshes and foley ;)
Thank you for being apart of it! Whooshes are up on my list but also hand pats/grabs, anything that someone grabs or interacts with needs some sort of sound effect.
Hey I'm glad you enjoyed the video Richard! I'll be modifying the Pokedex over the next few weeks so everything flows better and includes some more tips for recording. Just like in Pokemon, this is only the 1st generation of Pokedex.
I feel like I see a lot of reviews for plugin ins but not any for sound libraries. With say Sound Design 101's recommendation for getting good footstep and foley libraries, are there any in particular they recommend or you recommend. But besides that being a specific question I'm just looking for more library recommendations in general. There is just so much out there that it's hard to choose. I've got a lot of boom library stuff which I love but just want to keep my eye out for more stuff out there.
Hey Brandon! Yes footsteps are hard to curate well. I personally use the footsteps in Sound Ideas General 6000 series. It covers pretty much everything. However I understand that isn’t easily accessible. If the sound doesn’t quite fit, I’m finding that Soundly’s Pro library does a really good job!
@@brandonboomizad738 Recording your own footsteps I would recommend adding some character to each step. When you set your foot down go heel to toe and and a little twist in there so you really get the character of what you are walking on. Just like Sound Design 101 said, there is a lot samples out there and most of them are just not good. Recording your own you can really get character in your sounds, plus it gives you an excuse to wear heels.
as a beginner to sound design, this video is super helpful! I actually just made a video kind of similar to this on my channel covering the sound design methods used to create the sounds for super mario 64. I put a ton of work into it and It would mean a so much to me if someone who is actually working in the industry would check it out or maybe just skip through the video and offer some feedback :) also, I will definitely be using that sound design pokedex spreadsheet haha
Hey Paul, terribly sorry for the long awaited reply. I watched your Super Mario 64 Redesign Video and I think you did an amazing job explaining your process for creating sounds. The video was really well put together!
Sound design youtube is a small part of youtube, but so wholesome. Nice seeing all of you collaborate!
Thank you! This video was a lot if fun to do =^.^= we are a small community, but I think you’ll see us come together more often =^.^=
It’s such a great community! It’s getting more and more inclusive everyday. Especially in game audio!
Glad to hear it! Currently in the application process for my dream sound design school, but with the end goal of working in game audio :)
Yeah!! It's so nice

Absolutely great contribution and yeah I think that says a lot :)
Your instagram story is how I found this video. Thank you all for sharing your insight in such a clear and concise analogy!
@@MRZ0MBIEZZ Thank you, Colin! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
@@MRZ0MBIEZZ thanks for watching Colin!! Glad you found insight from all of us!!
You make this so exciting! I'm happy to get started in this field with your videos
Just starting to dip my feet into the vast world of sound design and this made me even more excited to get started, thanks!
Hey Bean, glad you enjoyed the video! Enjoy the process, the more fun you have the better the quality of your work will be =^.^=
Dirty oven and perfect guide for all sound designers are finally here! Thanks Tyler! Gotta catch’em all :)
The dirty oven really ads to the character of the sound hahah. Thank you for being apart of the video!
So much fun and useful information in this video, and really interesting tips from everyone. Thanks for putting the Pokedex together!

@@AftertouchAudio oo that’s awesome. Gonna be really really helpful for building my personal library over the next few weeks :D
So much great information here. Thanks so much for allowing me to be a part of this!
Hey thank you for being apart of it! More collaborations coming in the future!
Thanks for posting the Pokedex will be helpful for sound design.
The Pokedex will be evolving soon =^.^=
This makes me want to carry my sound recorder everywhere now.
I'm not even a sound guy.
@@locksleylennoxvfx Sounds are important to any production =^.^=, even if you are an editor it is good to have your own sounds you can pull from.
@@AftertouchAudio I'll start to do that. There so many sounds I wish I would have recorded sometimes.
I feel like that all the time. I just default to a recorder in my bag haha. Some of my "non sound friends" look at me weird sometimes haha.
really entertaining video! honestly really inspired me to get back out there and hunting down rare pokemon (sounds) again!
Thank you Jason! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Happy to see you come back to the audiots squad haha! Hunt down those sounds and make them yours!
This is beautiful thank you!!!!
Hey, glad you enjoyed the video =^.^=
Awesome vid and thanks for having me on!
Thank you for being a part of the video! Many more collaborations to come!
Outstanding stuff.
Thank you Trinitas, glad you enjoyed it.
Love the analogy!
Thank you Ricardo!
This was interesting, thanks for posting, but I really think if you set the oven at 150 it will cook more evenly and will sound better :-)
Ohhh I tried 350 and got some good results, never thought of going to 150. Must try.
P.S don’t try, this is the internet ^^^ jokes were made.

Edward Foley for footsteps and cloth movements. They are fantastic!
