A lot of period problems can be solved using a period cup. Uh you just may have to get to know yourself a little more. As a trans guy using a cup at first was hella weird but now I just forget about it. Honestly less messy than a pad and better for public bathrooms (no crinkle)
Sis straight male here, Dude you have such a pleasant disposition and are the type of guy I would choose as a friend. I'm not into highly aggressive or macho dudes with no insight or ability to consider other peoples feeling. KEEP UP THE VIDS,... Recent sub ✌
On the phone I never thought of doing that! Lol with the pad I ended up warring mens briefs in the end. Mine was so heavy too which made the whole situation worse. When I shopped for them I would wait for know one in that else and I would quickly grab it. I only went into the mens washrooms after I was on T. In November I got a hysterectomy so I do not have to worry about it anymore.
My mom is 90 years old. Back in “her day” they used old torn-up bed sheets. In other words they didn’t have a million choices like they do now. Her older sister’s job was to wash them after each use - yes they reused them. When my mom started my aunt had to wash both hers and my mom’s. My aunt was not too happy about that.
I'm 15 and it's so awkward when I get my period because I have gender dysphoria and I hate buying pads. I also wear boxers all the time so whenever I need more, I'll buy them and pads at the same time since it's embarrassing for me to buy either of them. I just make sure my mom can't see me buying either of them because if I buy pads, she'll keep arguing about which ones are better and it makes me uncomfortable. If she sees me buy boxers, she'll get mad because she hates trans people and doesn't want me to be trans
Thank you for making content about your experience :) I'm currently struggling a lot to figure out my gender identity and your videos have taught me a lot about the psychology behind gender dysphoria
It completely awkward if you have only male colleagues as well, you take so long going to the bathroom, and you took something mysterious out of your bag that you try to hide so much, and you are so moody and in pain when everybody else is just normal mood like any day, cis men don't really know how much of an advantage they have :D
My friend is cis male and has np going to get pads for me. I think it's common and no one really cares if a man buys sanitary napkins or tampons because they get their husbands to pick them up at the store.
A lot of the time, any type of internal period product can cause dysphoria with trans guys. Sad how sometimes pads and menstrual underwear are pretty much the only thing.
I just started T with really low dose somehow and since the first shot it got really unstable and from the second shot I hadn't have it at all and now I'm waiting for my fourth shot, it is possible to stop at first and then come back while higher the dose?
I can’t say if this will work for sure, but I’d suggest probably ordering period underwear from online. They’re reusable and you order them online, so no awkward interactions.
If you feel better wearing boxers, just wear your female underwear under it with a pad. I do it that way and it's okay and you can also place a packer in the boxers without it contacting possible blood. Also I am generally a shy person when related to public restrooms, so I just try to do everything at home so I don't have to change pads at public bathrooms, because that is really awkward and noisy and makes me just scared, although I completely pass as a male. I am three months on T gel, but I still get shark week, although not as often as pre-T. So far I experienced just one shark week in three months on T and that's kinda good. I really hoped I wouldn't get it anymore, but I didn't have that luck. Now I am considering switching to injections, because they usually stop the cycle completely. It just makes me really dysphoric now when everyone sees me as a male but inside my body are happening things that shouldn't happen to male people.
may i offer a suggestion for disposal . wrap it neatly and tightly. toilet paper. when you get to the main trash wrap again in paper towels. dispose in the main trash in the bathroom.
If you use pads It helps to wear women’s underwear under boxers that way the boxers hide the underwear lines and you can make sure the pad doesn’t mover em though it sucks to were it. And a cover story to cramps is a hangover because they affect everyone differently and sometimes it’s a headache and sometimes it’s a stomach ache
I've kinda wondered if wearing tampons was weird for trans masc people, I do it because I don't feel it as much so I feel like there's nothing in comparison to a pad. When you mentioned tampons and pads it kinda calmed that little worry that it was weird
I'd say if you get carried away and start talking cos' you know ftms know what it's like with the period situation, I say if they ask, (If they don't know you that well,) say you have sisters.
I've known guys who refuse to buy tampons for their woman. I don't get it. My woman used the tiny ones and she preferred the smooth plastic applicators. Cashiers always said I was "A Good Man".
I've also learned that trans guys still get periods when they're on T, they just don't experience bleeding or cramps, just the moody part of it. Which makes sense
I never thought about it being awkward buying feminine hygiene items if you're a guy. I'm sure guys buy them for their girlfriends quite often. Now, going to and waiting for a gynecologist would be QUITE awkward if you're a guy.
yepppp!!! haha :) that's why i mentioned it in the video! but not always the case for people that don't pass and it's hard to get out of your head at that point sometimes:)
Sam, this is the most hilarious video I watched. But when you're in the men's restroom, how do you manage to throw away your pad or tampon? Do you sneak it in the trash? Or do you take it with you?
@Diana Chin - As a bio female that has encountered situations where there is no bin (some female restrooms or friend's houses just don't have them) and also has had to clean both male and female restrooms (so each should have a main garbage can), I carefully wrap my used pad in the wrap that came with the new one, then put it in my pocket (or tuck in front of pants belt/waist loop) until I reach the garbage can. There should be a garbage bin in the main area of that bathroom, near the exit door, that you can toss it in (or in friend's house scenario, in the kitchen garbage). You could wrap it in TP or papertowels for more discretion. The alternative would be to use a cup (be sure to practice at home with this until you have a comfortable system down) instead of a pad/tampon. To my understanding you only have to change out (as in take out) the cup once each day, though you pour it out during the day each time you pee/use the loo.
