Giles Pannizi was zn absolute master of the Maxi 306 on Tarmac. He was, and still is, one of the best.

Quand même ! Malgré plusieurs décennies d'existence, ces 306 Maxi font toujours autant rêver. Ce son du moteur, rageur, fait encore et toujours dresser les poils à son approche. J'en connais un qui, de la haut, doit se frotter les mains avec un sourire et une certaine fierté, en voyant la bagarre qui se prépare.......Je veux parler de Michel ENJOLRAS qui a été "LE" préparateur des 306 Maxi officielles. Merci Messieurs de nous offrir ce qui va sans nul doute être un duel au sommet............du Mont Blanc!
La voiture française la plus emblématique du rallye à mes yeux... Pur son, pure gueule, pures performances avec deux monstres pour les conduire, du régal !

Such a great car, I love it.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I recently saw one parked at the local Peugeot dealership. It had the factory team livery (just like Delecour has here), though the names on the windows were of a local privateer crew. I'd pass the dealership every day on my way to school and almost always looked there, even just spotting the rear wing peeking above the cars that were blocking the view made me smile. I went closer a couple of times to look from behind the fence, it's just such a beautiful car to look at.
The car is still there, it's been there for like 3 months now. The livery has since been removed from it. I really wonder why it's there, perhaps the previous owner sold it to the dealership and no one has bought it yet. I don't mind at all :D

The 306 maxi and other F2 kit cars, were able to keep the WRC cars honest on the loose and were easily quicker on tarmac.....
If you ever saw a 306 maxi being driven in anger on a tarmac stage, then you would know..... Rear wheel drive!? Pffffttt.

Panizzi & Delecour wrote most amazing performace on tarmac in the WRC and in the FRance Rally Championship.

A white 406 Marseille taxi 😂
Pretty the same engine, 2.0 liters NA, about 300 hp, this engine was used on 306 Maxi, 406 BTCC and 406 STW.

I remember hearing these kit cars miles away way before seeing them Echoing through the forest . Amazing. Both drivers are 1st place.
I would have loved to see Gilles Panizzi again, but it's already a pleasure to hear the 306 maxi roar!

I appreciate your opinion. But. With all due respect nothing comes close to the, Audi Quattro S1 E2, Lancia Delta S3, Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2 or the, Ford RS200 Evo Pikes Peak. But hey that's my personal opinion.

Owned a load of 306s in my youth.countless phase 1 d turbos and even sedans.finally ended up with a gti6 which started to rot but the engine and box now lives on in my 205.
I have been spotting BOTH THESE Jewels one mile or two from my village during The Rallye International de Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise '98 Seb's now Maxi was owned and driven by the great burgundian driver Christophe Vaison, and 'Freine Tard' was testing his Maxi for Peugeot Sport preparing the upcoming Rally San Remo. Fond memories.

Love it.beautiful sound...i absolute love the french rallye cars, i drove a peugeot 306 2.0 16v xsi myself, you absolut can not compare it, but it was realy a magnificient car to handle.
Revoir M. Delecour dans la 306, avec la livrée de l'époque, et réentendre ce moteur si particulier, j'en ai des frissons ! Il ne manque plus que la Megane Diac de feu notre Bug national, et on s'y croirait ! Merci pour cette vidéo !

C'était une époque bénie! Qui commence avec Ragnotti et la Clio maxi en équerre en championnat de France et qui finit avec les victoires de la Xsara kit-car avec Bug en mondial. Et si on va plus loin accouche de plus de 15 ans de domination française en rallye. Si il y a bien un domaine ou on peut dire sans ambiguïté cocorico c'est le rallye.
Bulgaski et les Xsara kit car… les 2 victoires en championnat du monde… 💕

Surprising how fast FWD cars can be, I remember the Xsara kit cars were quite a bit faster than the WRC cars on tarmac.
I've heard in the other day, that, that was the main reason why kit cars, mainly the 306 maxi because it was the top top top of that generation, where banned, because they were unbeatable on tarmac, even wrc cars couldnt catch them
98 they was equal to wrc, 99 they beat them on tarmac.
@@djandri619 Also because they were driven mostly by Tarmac experts such as Panizzi, Bugalski, Delecour, Puras etc. Another reason they were so fast.

I love my 306 it's not a maxi but a gti6 p reg and the sound of these is insane mine has a straight through powerflow exhaust and still sounds nothing like these it's just nuts

j'avais le kit déco de celle de Delecour sur ma 309 GTI F2000. fait à ma sauce avec bombes de peinture et scotch LOL. c'était pas le kit exact mais c'était suffisamment proche pour être crédible.

306 Maxi de S.Loeb Monte plus haut dans les tours, pas la même évo que F.Delecour j'ai l'impression, en tout cas, ce sont deux avions de chasse, qui vont faire très mal sur les routes du Mont-Blanc, quel bonheur !!!! ça va en calmer plus d'un en R5 lol ^^
