Wait, didn't Ophelia's supposed sorrority days happen before she joined the Cabal, so in the 19th century? Because the levels look awfully modern, you know, with all the computers and stuff
I have a theory for what they were going for; with the singularities, the character changes and Caleb's supposed new magic powers. glad to get confirmation 15 years after i tried to play this series and lasted 20 minutes that my time was better spent not beating my head against this wall
What should have happened was Caleb, overcome with the eternal yet miserable existence is a rather boring one, so he ends up finding a way to put himself to rest, in doing so releasing the power he had harbored after all the murder of cultists, zombies, spiders, zealots, and a fucking demon lord and ends up reviving the other three Chosen (hence the title of Chosen). You play through each of the characters as they try to find out why they've come back, Ishmael has the answers for that and explains they have to revive Caleb because his being is necessary to defeating an ancient evil that controlled even Tchernobog. Gabriel turns into Gabriella as his body had been devoured by spiders (and his heart seems to have disappeared, I wonder where that went Caleb) his soul gets sucked into a woman's body that the cultists bad been cybernetically enhancing to deal with Caleb and so Gabriel's soul is trapped in this body with the woman's soul (conveniently named Gabriella because you can do this sorta thing when you're a shitter in RUclips comment sections) but have a general understanding to work with one another for the greater good. So they go through all this trivial matter, resurrect Caleb, he handles the boss which opens a rift to this expansion. It starts with Caleb having chosen to be a gunslinger because his family had been attacked by bandits (which were cultists pushing him towards the cult later) where in the end, he meets Ophelia and she brings him to the cult leading to the events of the first Blood and why he's the man we love in the series. Ophelia's nightmare is after being grabbed, she manages to narrowly escape with her life before being caught again and crucified this time where Caleb finds her and fights that demon. Ishmael relives the hell of being trained in dark magic and fighting countless hordes they sent at him, make the magical powers he has worth something. And Gabriella (because Gabriel would be more of the same) explains why they chose her to be enhanced by cultists. Disclaimer: this adds nothing
no, freeze-dried! It's an experiment to see if they can lower the production costs of jerky and bone broth at the same time! As a fan of both of those things I hope to see it succeed.
If it was unsolvable you probably fucked yourself hours before you ever got to that puzzle and didn't know about it. Fuckin graphic adventures are sadistic with that shit.
Honestly level designers are so underappreciated. Making a good map with circular navigability already takes a bunch of talent and then you have to go around and place a crazy amount of stuff just so it doesnt look bland asf.
I haven't laughed so much since the last video. Do you think you'll ever do Shogo: Mobile Armour Division? One of my ultimate favourites as a kid. Plenty of Lithtec *cough* goodness.
I didn't know anything about the behind the scenes issues with Blood II, I just knew that it wasn't as good as the first game. However, I didn't hate it as much as you did. The main game crashed on me a few times when saving, but as I recall, it was only in certain spots. I don't recall the Nightmare Levels crashing though. I'm a more patient player and will often use less powerful weapons to kill enemies if I can do it from a safe distance. I made heavy use of the orb. Not only does it home in on enemies automatically, it doesn't seem to alert them to your presence, even when they're taking damage from it. In the carnival tunnel, I think I used the guided mode to kill most of the enemies before actually entering the tunnel. Yes, it took a long time, but it was safer. In the cave near the end of the last level, with the respawning enemies, I found that I could stand at the entrance, just far enough in to make them spawn, but just out of range of their senses. Then I used the orb to kill them all. If I remember correctly, there is a finite number of them. Once you kill enough of them, no more will spawn. I was never able to kill the final boss the "proper" way. Even trying to dodge the homing shots by going behind the pillars didn't seem to work most of the time, the shots would still hit me. Instead of the knife, I used the dual shotguns and got under it. I had full health and it did very little damage to me. To be honest, that was really the only part of the expansion that I had a problem with. Some other parts took me a few tries, but that was the only part that made me yell at the screen until I figured out how to cheat the boss.
Man, GT Interactive published some of my favorite games of all time, including Lode Runner Online, the first game I ever played. And my brother and I loved the original Alone in the Dark games by Infogrames. It's so sad to see what they ended up like.

So I just finished watching the Blood 2 videos and this one, and I have to say, I absolutely loved all of them. They were long, sure, but I felt myself thoroughly engaged and captivated with them for every minute. I could hardly even get up to grab something to drink, I was glued to my chair! I never even knew the original Blood existed and I feel like I've been exposed to a jewel in plain sight. I'm not good at shooters, but I'm ecstatic to try out the original Blood sometime very, very soon. Props to you for working so hard and making these videos. They are immensely enjoyable.
Ishmael was an adult in 1928; Gabriella, who theoretically was Gabriel at the time saw him as a child in the circus, and unemployment wasn't a thing in that existed in the US until about 1935... But no problem: Ishmael was already a cultist before Tchernobog even spoke to him... The future weapons in events before "Blood"... Also the computer and the lava lamp in the sorority sisters house in Ophelias past (11:32), which past is before "Blood" so before the 1920's ??? It' so fookin' raw, it greats me from my plate when served and then it runs away...
Brother, don't get me wrong I love Blood series games, but the amount of patience you have to play this badly made parts, at not easy level of hardness... I do truly respect you for that! I respect the way this hardship inspires you for the content you make! Keep it up! You are the best and you do make my childhood memories really memorable in an entertaining way!!!
A bit late but ... wasn´t Ophelia someone that Caleb met back in the 1800? She left with him because her current husband died and wasn´t able to protect her from the cult or something.
Wow. Just wow. And to think I was going to replay Blood 2 and the Nightmare Levels because I had fond memories of them. Instead, I opted to play these videos, and now I am amazed that I managed to finish these 20 years ago, when I must have had ten times the ability to take punishment than I do now. "Thief 2: The Metal Age" is starting to look like a really good alternative. I finished Thief Gold back in the day a couple of times (in 2001 and again in 2009), but for some reason got stuck about 2/3 of the way through Thief 2 and never finished despite the fact that Thief 2 contained some of the best levels in gaming that I've ever played. Also Civvie, if I could recommend a game for you, it would be "Revolution" by Fun Labs, published by Activision in 2003 (Warning: The game can not be finished without the patch, so patch it first. And it's a bad game, but interesting). Fun Labs also did "Secret Service: In Harm's Way" in 2001 (a sort-of budget title at $29.99), and that game was really pretty good once you get the mechanics of it mastered. Both of these were fairly primitive FPS games, but In Harm's Way was much more intelligent and strategic than most other FPS games of its era. Also, make sure it's "In Harms Way" and NOT one of the abysmal sequels. I don't believe either of these is available as a download, so you'd need to get physical copies.
15:38 "“Ok, so here were my options: A, quickly duck sideways, dodge the claw, then take him out with a spinning back-kick Or B, take the claw in the face, roll on the ground, and die."

About the wall/window air conditioning: Semi-portable air conditioners were not invented until 1931 and were not sold until 1935. So if Ophelia went to college in the 1920s, that just raises further questions.

glad to get confirmation 15 years after i tried to play this series and lasted 20 minutes that my time was better spent not beating my head against this wall
see caleb roasting winniers gives me endless joy :D
Honestly the most underrated creator on the site
11:31 Lol. Even they are playing the original Blood.
I knew it! Ishmael is voiced by Michael Shapiro (Barney and Gman from Half Life).
I wonder if the “How to Pick Up Trashy Women” book is a reference to Better Off Dead
8:42 - Well, actually (akshully) there are some bone leeches under the ice - they can be easily seen with noclip.
Raw?
RAW!!
no, freeze-dried! It's an experiment to see if they can lower the production costs of jerky and bone broth at the same time! As a fan of both of those things I hope to see it succeed.
Ah, Starship Titanic. I loved that game right up to the unsolvable final puzzle.
If it was unsolvable you probably fucked yourself hours before you ever got to that puzzle and didn't know about it. Fuckin graphic adventures are sadistic with that shit.
Holy moley, that's some bland level design. That western town looks like something I'd make in half an hour.
Honestly level designers are so underappreciated. Making a good map with circular navigability already takes a bunch of talent and then you have to go around and place a crazy amount of stuff just so it doesnt look bland asf.
It looks like bargain bin TimeSplitters
@@greybayles7955 Some ppl were gods at build engine.
I haven't laughed so much since the last video.
Do you think you'll ever do Shogo: Mobile Armour Division?
One of my ultimate favourites as a kid. Plenty of Lithtec *cough* goodness.
My god honestly id laugh my ass off if he did. That game was so bad
Alexander Toll *cough*
In my defense shogo while good suffers from quite alot that blood two did sooooo.... still funny
Shogo was fantastic.
I weirdly really like Shogo despite its glaring issues.
This video reminded me to get Blood during the Steam Summer sale tomorrow. Thanks!
The Orb weapon is a nice Phantasm reference.
Man, GT Interactive published some of my favorite games of all time, including Lode Runner Online, the first game I ever played. And my brother and I loved the original Alone in the Dark games by Infogrames. It's so sad to see what they ended up like.

@Senhor Samurai
Could you fuck off? Stop insulting JJBA.
@Senhor Samurai
Says the person who spams every JoJo related comment with hate. I don't claim that JJBA is the best anime/manga of all time, but it deserves a lot of respect. If you haven't even seen the show your opinion doesn't matter, but even if you seen it, it still doesn't matter because the way you childishly spam everybody that you hate it. Grow up.
@@Saibachap I've seen the show. It's boring as shit. Cowboy bebop is far better
@@CourierSiix Noone cares.
You know, it's somehow a little bit pleasing seeing you suffer in this game, Civvie
you took me back in memory lane so far i didnt even remember in a long time....... thank u civvie
JoJos Big Adventure.
Goddammit
Yikes
Brother, don't get me wrong I love Blood series games, but the amount of patience you have to play this badly made parts, at not easy level of hardness...
I do truly respect you for that! I respect the way this hardship inspires you for the content you make!
Keep it up!
You are the best and you do make my childhood memories really memorable in an entertaining way!!!
You can beat the Ramsay out of a man. But you can't beat the man out of a Ramsay.
Look, don't think too hard about it.
If Ophelia lived in the 19th century, why did her sorority have air conditioners and lava lamps?
Because Time isn't linear and singularity portals ding like a microwave timer.
A bit late but ... wasn´t Ophelia someone that Caleb met back in the 1800? She left with him because her current husband died and wasn´t able to protect her from the cult or something.
lmao that scientist at the end is voiced by the same guy who did professor flitwick in the harry potter games
How is it that even the animated breaking ice looked better in the original Blood?
Underrated channel, I love ur videos
One of my favorites
Keep up the amazing work
Always a treat, Civvie. Good stuff!
Wow.
Interesting concept, yes unfortunately but bad :-(
5:50 LMAO Still laughing at this all these years later 😂
I come back to this video solely for Civvie's moan at 6:02

What a great day for a Civvie video

"“Ok, so here were my options: A, quickly duck sideways, dodge the claw, then take him out with a spinning back-kick
Or B, take the claw in the face, roll on the ground, and die."
21:53 is that berserk reference
This is an absolutely great video just like your Blood 2 videos before.
One of your best reviews - I actually edited down all four parts to a 1 hour and 20 minute mini movie. Hope you find another game that ticks you off enough to do another one like this.
He should do Ride to Hell Retribution. That game will make him pray for the Clown room.
Friendly reminder that if this guy reaches 100k followers he will play Duke Nukem Forever.
Did they finally make Blood 2 stable enough to run? I could never get it to run for more than about 30 minutes and never able to save it.
About the wall/window air conditioning: Semi-portable air conditioners were not invented until 1931 and were not sold until 1935. So if Ophelia went to college in the 1920s, that just raises further questions.
*19th century. A 2000s PC and lava lamp can also be seen in the room at 11:22.
13:35 is that a Jojo's reference?
I enjoyed the game with the crispy mod and sweetfx. Was a lot of fun for me. Wasn't blood 1 in any sense but was a step in the direction that gave us the amazing tron 2.0 and no one lives forever
Man some of the violence in your dungeon really gets the skin crawling
You have very quickly become one of my favourite RUclipsrs thank you so much
*"Oh ho! You're approaching me? WRYYYYY!"*
I, too, have a button set up where one shoots somebody in the room at random
Keep up the great work dude, always entertaining
8:18 to 8:23 That was the best insult I’ve ever heard come out of Civvie’s mouth.
Is it raw?
Time for *this* to get a remaster Civvie!
"did EA make this?" i lost it there xD
Nope. Monolith made this but they've been fucked over by the asshole publisher like GT Interactive. So we can blame GT for ruining Blood 2 developement, making Monolith to rushed on it !!
@5:58 Oh my god, that honestly drove me to tears, and I DON"T EVEN KNOW WHY It WAS THAT DAMN FUNNY!
