I just signed the lease on a home with an in ground salt water pool. Now I’m super overwhelmed about being able to do all this. If I were to hire a weekly pool maintenance would they handle all that stuff? lol
my salt levels are good at 3200ppm. All other levels are low, except we have really hard water and the hardness is very high. i have ran the chlorinator and boost and cant get the chlorine up. My water is crystal clear. what should i do first? Ph level? alkalinity? stabilizer? thank you! i love your videos!!
My salt water pool is getting a little green tint after I turned off the pump and let the robot vacuum do its work. What can I do to clear it since the ph. Salt and chlorine are all in range.
I always do. Shocking increases pH temporarily. So makes calcium deposit more likely. Likewise if new salt is not evenly diluted and a high concentration gets in the swg, this is not a good thing. So I turn it off and let the pump run for 8 hours or so. Best is to bypass the filter as well by selecting circulate with the 6-way valve.
My salt water pool CYA is only reading to on my palin testing kit, how would I raise that? My chlorine levels are low too, when I turn my chlorinator up I get a red light fault, Ph and Alk are spot on those and salt reading is 4 mg/l.
how keep salt water from eating up intex or bestway coleman metal pool frames hear zinc annode but will this help for sure ? last pool rusted out and ate up with rust became unsafe had replace need tips on replacemant to protect it
The salt system will still operate. I know some pool guys that was using chlorine during times salt was hard to obtain. As long as your system is operating above the minimum salt level it will still be generating. These salt generators, also called salt cells, work by electrolysis. The salt water is electrically charged, which splits the salt molecules and generates chlorine (Cl)
everytime im opening the pool for summer always use liquid chlorine to shock the pool. It’s important to remember that Salt is made of Sodium Chloride and with the addition of Chlorine and your machine it can be beneficial in cleaning the pool before the other elements are added
@@andrewmoore1536 I would argue that you likely have no idea what your chemistry actually is, even if you take a sample to the pool store to compare. Take 5 samples to the store and you will get 5 different results, go to multiple stores and you will get different results yet. Eventually you will get cloudy water, scale, alge, etc that could have been prevented if you had better data.
With enough experience you start to know how to read test strips although they're not as accurate as liquid reagents what if you know your pool and you know pool chemistry test strips are much more convenient
@@uptown1317 How do you know you are starting to know how to read the strips? How do you know how accurate or inaccurate they are or you are? If you have a plaster pool, how do you know your CSI and are not damaging the plaster? Do you simply go by how the water looks and whether people complain about burning eyes or occasional ear infections? The readily available test strips are simply guess strips.
@@D2O2 I think you mean LSI, not CSI. Pool chemistry is not a perfect science as long as your readings are within range you're pretty good to go. I test with strips and liquid at the same time and compare readings. I really only use them to check for calcium and alkalinity. Keeping calcium at 200-250 you pretty much will never have an issue.
If only I have hired six companies, my pool was beautiful until any of them came along so now it looks like moving on to doing it myself. All depends which swg you have. I have a Zodiac Ei2 Expert and the manual states 4000mg/l (same as 4000 ppm) as a minimum. The cell is able to produce 25 gram of chlorine per hour when set at 100%. Each system is different so it is very important to check the manual that came with the swg.

Do you have a video showing how to properly clean a salt cell with acid? I’m afraid of damaging mine.
There's a couple good videos on this channel cleaning multiple different cells: ruclips.net/video/I8V8vq4tEzM/видео.html

Any videos for stone degrading from saltwater pools?
Is that necessary to have CPO certification to check the pool chemistry? Thanks
no lmfao

What are your thoughts on need for anti-electrolysis zinc anode in a salt water pool?
required. make sure ground bonded to equipment
Hum I don’t know what that is and pretty sure don’t have in my pool.
i bought a sacrificial Zinc Anode to put in my skimmer
They aren't that expensive it might be worth getting. But it won't solve all of your corrosion issues if your pH gets too high.
This just made my decision to go chlorine on my pool that will be here Monday
I am really torn on this...i have an automatic cover and im worried of the corrosion possibilities to all the metal...
Yeah, it's a real risk with exposed metal!
Does anyone know why my salt cell won’t turn off when my pool filter does( filter on schedule )
Can you recommend a brand of test strips for a saltwater pool?
Aquachek is a pretty reliable brand
Thank you!@@SwimUniversity
Do you need to turn off/unplug your salt water generator during any certain times like shocking the pool or adding salt?
If your salt levels are too low, it will run but not produce chlorine. So wait for the salt levels to come up within range before running it.

Paint them with bed liner

First step, stop using test strips and wondering why you struggle to keep the chemistry balanced.
For me they are close enough since the water out of my hose is pretty balanced

I have been having to clean my salt cell like every 3 weeks this summer. The cell gets build up so fast it seems. What could the cause be? High PH??
The deposits are usually calcium so get that level checked accurately. pH imbalance will also accelerate that process
Definitely check your calcium levels and pH
What happens if you add liquid chlorine to a salt water pool? Not knowing it was a salt water pool 🤦
A salt water pool is a chlorine pool, so you should be fine! (Check out the first part of the video)
I add chlorine when I open my saltwater pool to get the levels where they need to be, and then I kick on the chlorine generator.
Nothing you just have to make sure there are no metals in your water because liquid chlorine can cause different types stains
nothing, a salt water pool is salt converted to chlorine via generator so you're good
Step one. Hire someone. Step two. Enjoy your pool.

How much does that cost?
"Pool Grade Salt" is NaCl?
So basic table salt.
Yup
We opened the pool, but didn’t add salt is that why the pool turned green?
If you have a salt water system and no salt, you have nothing sanitizing your water
It depends on which pool you have if it’s a regular water pool or a saltwater pool
I never shock my salt water pool .... I put it on super chlorinator for 24 hours after a big get together
Super Chlorination in a salt pool and “shocking” are exactly the same thing
Super-chlorinate is essentially the same as shocking!

Hah. Makes you sound drunk
Why would anyone have a salt water pool?
ease of maintenance, reduce cost due to not buying expensive chlorine, automatic controls to set sanitizer level. Less salty than your tears
Because it's much easier.
Because now I spend $30-$40 a year on salt rather than hundreds on chlorine.
Its better for your skin
Why would anyone need to ask this question.
