      Typical comment.
Tell me what fine the police got from this? None.
What fine do they get from issuing a Section 59? None.
Even when they seize the vehicle the second time... the recovery fees paid by the driver to get the vehicle back go to the recovery firm, not the police.
AND even when you get a fine from the police, the money goes to the treasury NOT the police... as the forces are essentially owned by the crown (barring privately funded forces such as BTP, City of London Police).
In the force I'm in, we regularly go to burglaries.... I had one shift a few months back where I went to three burglaries in a single shift by myself.

@@TheGreendabomb That's pointless when it comes to 'antisocial driving'. The idea is to stop antisocial driving, so if someone is driving in an dangerous manner, they should be spoken to about it as close to the event as possible. A driver could think their driving was perfectly fine, so if they're not informed that their driving isn't good enough, poor enough to gain marker for it, they're not going to change. If they don't know they need to change, their driving, if dangerous, is going to lead to a collision, injuries, or deaths. 'They'll get their totalled car seized after they've killed someone if they got a section 59 against that car', so does that make the death all OK then? They didn't need to know they had that against them or their car to change their driving to not have had that second much more serious incident?
Road safety enforcement needs to be active if it's to have any affect. There are plenty of normal drivers out there who have allowed their standards to drop, or they've fell out of good habits, gradually into bad ones like tailgating, not driving to changing road conditions, allowing themselves to be distracted by thought, etc and they probably don't even realise it as it happens over years, and they probably still won't realise even when it results in them being involved in a serious collision. What use is politicians talking about it after the fact, or them receiving speeding tickets, posted out to them 2 weeks after they killed a child the day the camera was activated?
The blanket lowering of speed limits is another massive joke in 'making the roads safer'. Same as not pointing out to the driver that their driving is dangerous and needs to improve. Lowering limits has been proven by statistics to increase the number of incidents, I suspect from making drivers more complacent with the lower speed and so they let their attention drift more, so they're far more likely to end up in a collision from being distracted, and having a slower reaction, if it's a child walking out they'll probably run over them, but their mangled body will still have a pulse, so they're not a death and so not on the political scoreboard.

It means you'll get pulled over by ANPR Police cars a bit more often just for them to do basic checks on you and if you get caught speeding in a car that's already got a marker then you won't be let off with a warning. The markers should 'expire' after an amount of time, maybe 6 months, maybe a year, but there's no guarantee.
If it wasn't you who got the marker put on the car you could try contacting the Police and inform them of the change of ownership and it wasn't you who got it put on, then hope they remove it.
If you want to search it, it's called a Section 59 Police marker.
