The Tanoshi Events Cobham Services of May 2023 was crazy. I attended in a great convoy featuring 2 Toyota Chasers, a PS13, Lotus Exige, MX5 and lots more along the way. After a 30 minute queue, we parked up and enjoyed watching the cars arriving at the meet, but the police later shut down the whole service station, as the traffic on the M25 had built up too much.
They later decided to impose a Section 35 (Dispersal Order) on the venue, meaning we all had roughly 5 minutes to leave, or we would be at risk of being arrested. As I wasn't driving, I had to await Chloe's appearance before I could leave, so I got a 2nd and final warning myself!

Some of these comments about the police are hilarious 😂 what did you guys expect you took hundreds of cars (lots illegal) to a busy service station in the middle of daytime, parked across 2 or 3 spaces each, filled up the ENTIRE service station, which meant that people who needed to use it for food, fuel, charge and rest couldn’t do that. There are HGV drivers that have been driving for 12 hours straight who can’t get in because of stuff like this. The police simply turned up, monitored it for a while, then told everyone to leave so people who ACTUALLY needed to use the service station could do so. I don’t really see the issue with that. Think about the impact your actions have on other people a bit more before having a go at the police.

From a hgv drivers perspective something like this is really disruptive at cobham services. We run on tachographs and a meet like this could end us up with a fine or prosecution for not being able to park up within 15 hours. Also people with pop and bang maps make a lot of noise and stops us from being able to sleep. Why not just go to ace cafe or a multi-story car park somewhere instead?
Was thinking similar mate. I'm heading down to preston on saturday to look at a mk5 gti with/for my wife and although it's a totally different area if something like this happened it could really screw up the journey as I'm on a tight schedule. The "organisers" of these things don't seem to be firing on all cylinders when trying to plan ahead. Selfish pricks, some would say.
More than likely get kicked out of a carpark, plus I feel for you, but if it's the weekend, then not much they can do. Most people work all week and wanna enjoy the weekend
@@NewHandle_ Totally agree with people wanting to let loose and play with their toys at the weekend. Just can't agree with using a motorway service station for a meet though, backing everyone out onto a 70mph zone is just asking for trouble. Can't blame the police at all for putting a stop to this one, but using the armed response unit was definitely overkill!

People are breaking the law. I mean there's evidence in this video alone. It doesn't matter whether you agree with the laws or not, doesn't even matter if the officers themselves agree or not. Their job is to enforce the laws. If people didn't break laws at car meets, the police wouldn't need to attend. If you want to blame someone, blame the nobs doing burnouts or drifting on public roads.
Also it's not like traffic officers are interchangeable with serious crime detectives or armed drug enforcement units. If they weren't at this meet they wouldn't be off catching murderers and drug lords

@@shia_labeouf That's mostly true, but everything you said is negated by the fact that there is a police drone in the air. Legally, the police can take videos of crimes being committed using the drone, and as long as they get the license plates of the vehicles, it can work the same as a speed camera. They don't need to be there. They could literally just sit in their cars and film the whole thing, sending out letters to all the offenders after the fact or have cars stationed around the area, looking for the specific worst offenders that might potentially have fake plates. This would actually generate them more revenue. As for your final point, there are armed police officers attending this meet which invalidates your argument.

I'm not surprised the police closed it, a meet at a service station is a ridiculous idea. Think of all other other people that need to use the service station for a rest, food, toilets, the transport drivers who need to stop by law for a break or sleep. They cant because a bunch of obnoxious fools think bang and popping while taking up the whole service station is a great idea.

We all know people turning up in "tricked up cars" are there for the meet. No doubt parking in bay after bay after bay for which is intended for customers, not for "car fans" to stand around and gawp at each other's heavily modified (and no doubt many of which don't have mods declared) cars.
If you watch it they actually allowed people in stock cars in.... I doubt anyone actually going to "Get food" or "shopping" or whatever was denied access.
The irony is "car meets" take up far more spaces in retail parks and service stations..... never understood the attraction to a car met.
I drive a 3 litre BMW, I like cars, I like driving them fast, sure....
But would I go and stand in a car park to gawp and go "Wow, look at that 500 quid clio that they've spent 3 grand on bodykits, spoilers, fancy wheels and a glittery paintjob on"? No.
SOME of the cars at car meets are genuinely nice. Half of them are just utter shitboxes owned by chavs who spend all their money on mods and no money on maintenance. Mate of mine was into the car meet scene, spent all his money buying a classic mini (A registered mini) from the 60s I think he said it was.
He spent thousands doing it up, thousands on all if it's electrical wiring issues, he probably spent in excess of £15k in the 2-3 years he owned it. Last I saw it he advertised it for sale for £10k and he was struggling to sell it.

Yet again pigs with so called authority spoiling what is a more or less legal avent freaking out issuing fking orders as usual. Ten or fifteen years ago you would not have had this, there would probably be a patrol car parked up at either end incase hooligans are too happy with the throttle. There used to be. The problem was people turning up reving engines pop's and bangs then the loud music. If people just turned up respectful and park the cars look at each others car's and chatted their be no problem. But people driving like fools and reving engines is what killed it. You can see people in this video doing the same things. They are the people to blame

It’s all very well for you young uns with your fancy popping cars but wait until your 60+ and find yourself touching cloth and desperately needing the motorway services before you soil the seats of your vehicle, it’s really not funny and it cost a bloody fortune in air fresheners and dry cleaning, Adam should send free wet wipes to all Honda Jazz owners.
I'm a massive car guy but these type of meets have ZERO place at a motorway services, or any motorway location for that matter. The M25 is a shit road as it is without people acting like idiots and turning an extremely busy services into a nightmare. Do it properly and either book somewhere or go somewhere off the grid.

dont know if anyones interested,but from 2305hours to 2340hous tonite on channel 4, is a programme titled 'untold:the secret world of boy racers'. if it was televised on the beeb, it would be naturally biased in one direction but perhaps channel 4 might be more neutral(or not). might be worth a look.

Do feel sorry for those lorry drivers (and some of the cars probably) who need to fill up. Cobham is situated at a point on the M25 where it's a long fucking way to the next services. It's completely feasible that you wouldn't have enough fuel to go anywhere else or blow through your tacho/hours as a lorry driver.
Also really bad for EVs because Ionity are rapid chargers and there's not many of those about. Plus even if/when they do get in, people are parked all over the charging bays anyway.
I love a good meet but people really need to be considerate. It's no surprise the police are dispersing this. It's not practical to have this many cars meet at a service station.
Don't know how some of those cheap cars get the confidence to take up 2 spaces and rev their hideous 4 bangers. Nobody is impressed 🤦♂️
usually love the vids adam but this isnt it, people need the services. sleep, food, toilets, im sure there were loads of babies that had been sat in full nappies for ages and needed to be changed, cant do that on the side of the M25

Because they don't have many units with guns, so why are they sending them to a car meet rather than to break up people with knives or guns.

I don’t understand why police are so quick to jump on the car community and pull people over, stop meets and just overall ruin it but yet when actual crimes are happening it is set aside. Like how many officers/cars were used to simply stop people from going into the services, which I didn’t even know the police are allowed to do. I totally get it to have officers around if it starts getting a bit mad & “antisocial” but just stopping people because they have a modded car is a joke in my opinion.

Someone fill me in. Why exactly are the police turning away obviously modded cars from what I assume is some kind of public parking?
It's NOT public parking in the sense you think it is. it's a service station, that land is owned by either a private company or a collection of private companies. Technically speaking that slip road is also a "road" so the police can control access to it. I have no doubt the landowners don't want a bunch of men with extremely loud cars taking up all the spaces so that customer's can't use them. Where I am there is a regular car meet where a bunch of idiots (yes - they are) literally turn a 3 lane roundabout into a 1 lane roundabout, all of the 5 exits are covered with parked cars and on one of the approach roads which is also 3 lanes they literally park for several hundred metres in lanes 1 and 2.
Where does it say in the highway code - "Park your car in a lane of traffic and block it completely if you feel like it, so you can stand around and watch other people drift around roundabouts"?
What's the fascination with Chasers. I've never really warmed to them.

Imagine driving a lorry/hgv for 6 hours then going to stop for some food and getting stuck in this
You have to take a 45 minute break every 4.5 hours. If you don't you can be fined. After 9 hours of driving you have to take a 3 hour break then can drive another 9 hours but after that you MUST take an 11 hour break at a minimum. You should stop at 9 hours for a minimum of 9.
The police can stop a car meet and make everyone move. But let the oil protesting idiots block the road for hours!?
Wow iam usually for police in general but ive lost alot of respect seeing there attitude towards average hard working people, thats like watching police in Russia or China, move or il arrest you, yet on police interceptors/ traffic cops, they arrest people with a machete then say at the end they were released with lack of evidence,
