Stephen great video. The comparison was really simple and clear especially the co-existence part and when to use each one. Since the insta360 is best at 1080p any suggestions on how to mix the footage with the GoPro shooting 4k video? Keep up the great work.
Watched several videos prior to this one and have finally made my decision. That amazing minute montage was what I needed.
I have both cameras like yourself. In side by side comparison of quality the x3 can’t come close to the GoPro. The GoPro always looks so crisp when you take the few seconds to adjust your settings for lighting etc. The x3 is more of a fun and creative camera as you stated. I have taken a lot of cool videos with the x3 but the GoPro is my first choice for POV shots during action sports because the quality is far superior. I wouldn’t choose one over the other if I had to choose one because I use them both for different situations. I’m glad I ended up with both.

Thanks for confirming what I thought I was seeing. The GoPro shots seem so much more realistic and clear than the X3. I'm having trouble picking which to make my first purchase.

I am literally 2 days away from buying, but I am having a very hard time deciding. Based on reviews and other articles, Insta360 X3 has a lot more features, clearer images and videos (5.7K Insta360 versus 5.3k I think with Go Pro Hero 11). I also find it more aesthetic to be able to use an invisible selfie stick in the Insta360, instead of the Hero 11 which will show a selfie stick when you use it. Another thing I am considering are accessories - The Hero 11 has the accessories included in the bundle here in our country (PHL), while I need to buy the ones for Insta360 separately. Another thing is the frame - Insta360 allows you to select the frame (like orientation or how wide the shot is) after taking the image/video, but the GoPro does not. So feature wise, Insta360 I know wins, but this video just showed how bad it is underwater? This is one of the main reasons why I will be buying an action cam, to use underwater. Hero 11 has less features, but seems to have better underwater shots? So why does it show 5.7K in Insta360 and 5.2k in Hero 11, yet it is bad underwater? Another better thing with Insta360 is the ability to take 360 videos or photos, I believe Hero 11 does not have this? OMG can someone please help me decide!! Also, I believe Insta360 offers free editing apps on a phone without the need to pay, and Hero 11 does not? GoPro subscription is also not available here in the PH. I am so close to going crazy as I do not wish to buy one and then regret it after, so can someone please help me decide! I will mainly use it for underwater and motorcycle shots.
Choose insta 360X
The resolution of the Insta360X3 is misleading. Although it is 5.7K, that resolution is for the entire 360 field of view, so the Hero 11 is actually sharper. However, I use my Insta360X3 far more due to the ability to make some pretty creative shots.
What I like is that you use the Insta360 for what it’s suppose to be, creative shots. So much Insta360 video I see on other channels is well, dull. Thanks for this comparison. Well done, Stephen.
Great video, I just purchased the Insta and really haven’t used it much but it’s amazing so far. Do have a GoPro 7 which is nice and gets the job done.
Really good video, glad you went where I was headed, probably need to have both depending on the shots and where you. Since I don’t own either right now I think I’ll go GoPro first and follow with the insta a little later after giving the bank account a bit of recovery time

Thanks for the video. I'm looking to buy my first action camera for an upcoming scenic road race and I'm really torn. I lean toward the GoPro for durability and a because the images are more realistic. But not having to worry about where you point is a huge temptation with the X3.

Steve because of you and this brilliant video that you made, I went out and bought myself the Insta 360x 3 and so far I love it and am excited about being able to use it to it's full potential. I also went and bought the selfie stick that you have linked here too, but it's like its a fake as there is no way to tighten each length- unless each length is extended to the maximum, which is not always what you want. If it's extended only part way, there's no way to twist and tighten the joints and therefore it falls out if you're not holding it at the join instead of the handle AND it looks different to other Insta selfie stick too. Does yours work the same way????
The one with the yellow ring? Yeah mine works the same. It’s a limitation of carbon fibre poles. I just extend the sections I want.
How do you make the stock extend during recording with only one hand?

You really need the 3 m pole for the drone-like shots.

After 3 different review videos I'm still at a toss up. Think I just stick with what I know....GOPRO Hero 11. I have a Hero 3 so, either one is going to be a big upgrade. Thanks for the video.
