  • This invention is about designing and developing a portable ball mill machine that can be used for the fabrication of microstructure particles, nanoparticles and synthesis of nanocomposite. It can effectively synthesize nanoparticles and also mix two or more distinct nanoparticles uniformly and homogeneously. The ball mill is a cylindrical machine that is horizontally about the axis of the shaft. The cylindrical part serves as a fabrication or synthesis or mixing chamber as per the need and requirements. The cylindrical chamber can be replaced with different sizes according to usability. The chamber is partly filled with nanoparticles and various steel balls of different sizes. The crushing or synthesis or mixing is done because of steel balls that cause a collision and crushing effect on the particles or nanoparticles. The ball mill is operated in a closed chamber, which ensures that the nanoparticles are returned to the mill to be mixed by the collision and impact of steel balls. A stepper motor with low power consumption is used in the ball mill, which is powered Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) controlled by the controller. The controller controls the rotation of the shaft of the stepper motor and allows it to rotate in both directions (clockwise/anticlockwise). Dual rotation ensures effective homogeneous and uniform mixing and synthesis of the nanocomposite. We can also regulate and control the voltage through the controller connected to the Arduino. Developed product can be used in research laboratories as well as Nano and biocomposite industries.
