  • According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, more than 26,000 "enforcement contacts" were made during the recent Memorial Day weekend reporting period.
    One of those contacts made a particular impression on the OSHP.
    A motorcycle operator was clocked for travelling at 147 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone on I-71 in Medina County on Sunday evening. The driver was pulled over just past the Brunswick-Strongsville border. The dash cam footage of the traffic stop was shared on the OSHP's Facebook page on Wednesday.
    "Do you know how fast you were going," an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper asked the motorcycle driver after he had pulled over.
    "I wasn't paying attention. I don't know," the driver replied. He did not provide an answer to troopers as to why he was traveling so fast.
    OSHP also reported 17 deaths on the state's roadways during the holiday weekend. There were also 490 OVI arrests, 299 drug arrests and 3,992 safety belt citations.

    If he was going 147, the car behind him was doing 120

    Guy on I-285 in Atlanta was stopped on a Hayabusa going 165.The Officer told him the radar must be wrong so he'd put 90 on the ticket since he'd gone that fast behind him after he slowed down.Guy tells the cop No mistake I was winding my new Hayabusa out when I saw you and slowed down.It was at 165 or better.He insisted on calling the salesman at home.Yes Sir it's guarenteed to do 180 mph on a closed track with a professionsl rider.He finished the ticket,impounded the bike and arrested the driver for reckless endangerment to the public from excessive speeding.

      Think the cars they use get up to around 150 MPH. But the difference is in the commissions of their duties, by law they are allowed to.

    The 2009 Dodge Charger police package is a rear wheel drive sedan powered by a 368 horsepower Hemi V8 engine generating 395 lb.--ft. of torque. The Charger PPV package tested out at a top speed of 146 mph and took 8.63 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in LA County's acceleration tests. Hmmmm? 146 vs 147 Cruising speed... I suppose, the officer was kind for the stopping.

      That test doesn't sound right. I have a 2020 Charger SXT with the V-6 and will go from 0-60 in the mid 6 second range. but I don't have all the extra weight from cop cars. The 2021 Charger tested by the Michigan State Police, which also does extensive vehicle testing, the 0-60 average time was 5.91 seconds with a top speed of 149 mph which coincides for a reason with the top speed rating for the Goodyear RS-A tires they all use.

    The trooper should be fired for not arresting this criminal. He put everyones life at risk, doesnt even care how fast he was going, will certainly do it again and he just lets him off with a ticket like its no big deal. Stands there talking to him like everything is cool. That is felony reckless driving.

      There is no law saying the cop has to arrest him , it’s fully up to the officers discretion on if he wants to cite or arrest, also there is no such thing as felony reckless driving in Ohio, for that matter any state mostly

      Nah going fast on a bike is not a big deal unless you are weaving and lane splitting. You obviously don't ride or you would know. It is a lot of fun to go fast when it's safe. It's even more fun to easily outrun a parked car with radar.

    • @ScreamingEagleFTW
      @ScreamingEagleFTW 7 месяцев назад

      its not safe to speed. period. its illegal and selfish and puts everyon in danger. I vote for mandatory 6 months in county jail for speeds in excess of 2x the speed limit and the bike should be crushed right in front of them and insurance wont pay.@@Clarkstonlife
