Good luck on your race. Hope the weather doesn’t suck too much. This year I started to like open water swimming more than going to a pool. Like you said, you look around at the stuff under water. I get into a meditative state instead of counting laps. And my watch buzzes every 500 meters anyway.
That's such a fun feeling. I love swim courses where you've got stuff to look at. I haven't swam in MV, but apparently it's got some visability, which will be fun. And yeah, it's looking pretty brutal weather. Some quality type 2 fun!
Good luck on your race. Yes, riding a bike, especially on those long rides, makes me feel like a kid again. And I also get numb legs, long before I feel any fatigue. Weird. Anyhoo, thanks for the positive vibes!
Thanks Sabile, it went well!
Thanks for the update and insights Justin, good luck for the race.
Thanks man! Then I gotta get MTBing again. Had a fun day up with two friends (who are way more skilled than I am) in Bellingham. What a blast!
@@JustinDoesTriathlon Xterra off road triathlons are in your future.
I get those nice memories when training sometimes too - it’s always a pleasant reminder of why I love to be out there. Best of luck on the race man!
Exactly. It's a good feeling. Thank you!
Great video, those two athletes are inspiring, i have found several sprites lately of amazing people overcoming personal limitations/disability to do amazing things in this sport. I know their perseverance will be some thing I draw upon especially if the Weather washes us out Sunday, we get the privilege to do this and suffer to push our limits, I know that what I love about endurance sport.
I love the variety in the way people experience exercise/training/racing.
Personally I just love being fast, and really only race to do a fun activity with friends.
Yeah, it's really interesting for sure. As long as you find your reason.
I have struggle with motivation in the last few months, a niggle that won't go and stress at work, I dialled my expectations for the remaining races right back to simply fnishing with a smile, like you say, this isn't your job!
Hope the race goes to plan
I can certaintly, wholly relate, that's for sure. I think I was getting to the point where stress was causing me to not work out, then I'd feel stressed and guilty about not working out, so I wouldn't, and it was just a bad cycle. Once I dialed back my training plan (so I didn't constantly feel like I was missing everything) and just focused on the fun, it got a lot better. Am I as fit as I could have been by nailing the plan perfectly? Hell no. But there comes a point where doing a suboptimal workout that's more fun is better than skipping your perfect ride. Hope it turns around for ya. :)
do what is fun! awesome and by the way if i wear double swim caps (race cap) i wont lose the cap but if i am just wearing race cap only then i need to grab it and put it in my tri suit.. i got a picture of me taking it out when going out of the water kind of neat
Good call at the double caps, I think I'm gonna go that way! And that's awesome, good pic I bet
@@JustinDoesTriathlon the 1 i have i know will stay on.. race ones mostly fall off my head when my hair is short
@@bonn1771 Interesting, okay. Yeah, I'm trying to figure something out. I might just pick up a thermal cap with strap. It's a little silly, but I really don't want to deal with it.
