I have owned the W204 sports plus 2.1 diesel version for 5 years and done 110000ks and not a single issue and the economy of the diesel is amazing I have had it down to 3.7ltrs per 100ks on the highway on long trips. They are also such a great looking and smooth riding car. I don't believe I will ever sell mine even though I could get the latest c class if i wished, it's a car for life.
Agree with you on the looks and design, even these days it still looks great. Thanks for letting others know about the reliability 👍🏻. Thanks for watching
@@pavle_b hi! Great question. Personally I would always go for the V6 M272/276 if possible. To answer your question, any. Both M270/274 engines are great with a proven track record of reliability. The new M260/264 engines still have to be tested with time and kilometres (250k, 500k, 1M).
@@edwardchatikobo6316 thanks Edward what model year is it ? I'm assuming the 1.6 petrol which is the m270 engine. How do you find it. Nice drive ? Comfy ?
A friend of mine had an 07 c class 2.2 amg , we all went on holiday in his fully loaded up us in the back was very roomy and comfortable still , great cars ... another great review too
They are roomy in the back, it was the transmission tunnel which is an issue, its pretty massive. Sounds like an awesome holiday though bud. Cheers stu 👍
I have one, but the 1.8 2012 estate AMG pack. owned it for 4 years and a few months now. No major issues, just age related maintenance: engine and transmission mounts, gearbox oil, diff oil, hand break and rear break pipes corroded and had to be replaced, a level sensor in the rear, a valve for the ac unit, 2 thermostats. Now, I am looking to do the timing chain (not urgent because there is no rattle) and the AC compressor because after 1 hour of driving, there's no more cold air coming through. I usually use a Mercedes indy shop, but I am starting to do the easy stuff myself, like engine oil, filters and brakes because it's getting too expensive (£350 for a oil and filter only, for example). The rear subframe corrosion is a known issue -I had mine checked at a MB dealer - all good, but I cleaned, primed and undersealed myself just for the peace of mind. Performance wise, it's not that bad - I can join a motorway quickly, with a bit of revs, it will keep up with 2.0 TDI VAGs. In Germany I took it all the way to 146 mph - which is not bad for 156 Hp. Fuel economy is bad, really bad for only 156 Hp - 20-25 MPG in the city and 30-35 MPG highway. On the motorway, if there's a lot of road works and I have to drive at 50 mph, the fuel consumption will go up to 38-39 mpg.
Don't know what a chain replacement costs but I know if you change your oil and filters on time timing chain issues are rare. Chain issues are more common on the 1.6 than the 1.8. Although the 1.6 and 1.8 have the same 156hp from factory the 1.8 maps to around 185 to 190hp whist the 1.6 maps to around 175hp. Still fab cars though.
@Ian.Griffin yes, timing chain, is it expensive to replace?, because I know that it is expensive on BMW 320 because the timing chain is on the back of the engine, so the engine has to be removed
OK I have one. Fuel conumption: city 7-8-9L; extra urban@90kmh = 5,5L, @140kmh=7L; 70k kms on the clock and so far nothing happened. Quite happy about it.
I shall try. It was one thing I struggled with when I first got in this car I filmed this review with. Heres a link to a video which is similar setup with this one. Depending what year, some were an electric parking brake which had a switch on the lower area of the dash on the drivers side. ruclips.net/video/RdDuW6LwZ9Q/видео.html I hope this helps.
1.6 litre 4 cyl Turbo. The one I had to test and review had the eco button underneath the stereo and a toggle button at the bottom of the shifter which changed between eco, sport and manual mode.

Just bought one.

Had a 1.8 cgi estate for 7 years now and looking to change. Seen a 2013 1.6. 26000 miles. Would it seem gutless?
if it is the 1.6 turbo like what was in the C class I had for this review I'd say no, for a 1.6 it was surprising and torquey.
I'm glad this car has been dead body certified. I'll start saving up immediately!

Cost 67k pounds to own a 10 year old one in Singapore. And allowed by law to use only for 10 years!
A lot of money that, I didn't know about that law in Singapore.

That brake is so silly, worse on a manual being so near the clutch
It really is isn't it. Such an odd design and something I've never understood but some see it as a quirk of the brand.
