I too love the dark chocolate cherry bark and also agree with Courtney regarding the white chocolate. I do love the Royals with their regular milk chocolate coating - and quite frankly, don’t usually eat milk chocolate with anything. My problem is that I bought too much from Choc Zero at both Christmas and Easter. 😂. Why is it a problem? Because any chocolate is a trigger food for me, even the good stuff. We were surprised by the dark chocolate royals, too! Folks on our team who don't like dark chocolate at all enjoyed them greatly, so we're glad to hear they were a hit for you, too. Also glad to hear you enjoyed the Dunkies :)
Tonight I tried ChocZero' sugar free Caramel syrup, again. And boy did it raise my gulose reading by 81 points! I am a type 2, diabetic. I don't seem to have as much trouble with Allulose natural honey flavor sweetener. But Allulose is a teaspoon and ChocZero is a Tablespoon. Hope this helps your investigation 😊
I get a spike unfortunately. I used a CGM. I am not diabetic, but was prediabetic 4 years ago but no longer since on low carb/keto. I do think it is the resistant dextrin. I do ok with Goalz.
I stopped all of them after I had spikes with almond bark and chocolate mint. Goalz doesn’t have the resistant dextrin. Pretty clean. I avoid spikes as much as possible.
Type 1 diabetic for almost 10 years. Prior to the pandemic, I tried the choc zero bark for the first time when our grocery store started selling them. Back then there were two labels for the bark, one said sugar-free and the other one said no sugar added. Now I will say, in my type 1 Facebook groups, people had already posted for about six months that this product spiked the crap out of them, so I knew this was a crapshoot, but I was doing an an N=1. This was also back when they were using soluble corn fiber, and not resistant dextrin (which I already know that dextrin spikes me badly). I had minor success with the sugar-free bark, meaning I could pre dose insulin at double the amount of my normal insulin to carb ratio as per the label, and I wouldn’t get a spike as much as a gentle rise where I needed a little bit more insulin later to normalize my blood glucose. The No sugar added one, no matter what I did for pre dosing, I got a hell of a spike. I decided that the it just wasn’t even worth it. I wasn’t even really a big fan of the taste of their products compared to Lily’s which was so much easier to dose insulin for. So basically to sum it up, unless you wanna play insulin roulette, Choc Zero products are terrible for people with type 1.
The white chocolate balls are a Ferrer Rocher candy dupe. I don't like white chocolate, but Ferrer Rocher ones are coated with coconut flakes and I love them. They even package them the exact way as the Ferrer Rocher.
I had the same experience as Steve with the Cherry Almond bark. Had serious Robitussin vibes. The truffles were amazing. As for my blood sugar, I found that the syrups spiked my blood sugar but the candy doesn't. I'm a T2D. Love all your videos.
I'm fortunate in that none of their product spike me. I suspect that if I ate enough of them at one time, it might, though I've eaten 6 of their peanut butter cups in one sitting and didn't get a spike. I'm excited to see that their maple syrup is coming back. It seems pretty much every commercial no sugar syrup has maltitol or sorbitol as the main ingredient. Both of those are pretty high glycemic and cause me lower GI issues.
Love Steve’s description: “Looks like a dry ball of Play-Doh, kinda.” Hahaha I have a huge BG spike with all resistant dextrin products, & I’m metabolically heathy, with no type 1 or type 2 diabetes. But I am a lean mass hyper-responder (LMHR)& that does cause me fairly extreme reactions to certain things, so maybe that’s the problem. ? 🤷🏻♀️ Love Choc Zero products, but will have to live thru you & everyone else enjoying them. 😄
Funny, I am exactly the same, I like whole, natural cherries, Bing and Rainer, but I can't stand any cooked cherries, or cherry flavored things. They never taste right. Not that I really eat a lot cherries these days, but every once in a while, I'll pop ONE in, and that is a wonderful flavor.
Unfortunately I see a spike, which is a shame because I love their products. I was a type-2 diabetic, but I’ve lost 130lbs & kept my A1C around 5.2 for a year, but I’m clearly still not metabolically healthy because a few pieces of keto bark spikes me about 40 - 50 points (unless I tuck it in at the end of a big, fat & protein based meal). Now Unbelievabuns were an absolute revelation for me! I’ve tried several keto breads you’ve recommended that didn’t spike you but every single one spiked my glucose until unbelievabuns. I’ve actually seen my blood sugars drop slightly after two big cheeseburgers!! Great find & I’ve already ordered two six-packs from them. So THANK YOU!
Always interesting and fun to see two differing opinions on products. Without having tried either of these, I am not a super-sweet fan and I do like some chocolate and cherry combos so I may be Team Courtney on this taste test. 😀
The chocolate, cherry, and nut sounds delicious. But, I love cherries and chocolate. As for the white chocolate and coconut, I would be less likely to like them as I am not a big fan of coconut,
I'm with Courtney on the bark. I absolutely love that dark chocolate cherry almond flavor. I hope Chris Bair can take a page and make a chocolate cherry Keto Chow! And with Courtney on the white chocolate (I don't like coconut, so that's probably a bigger deal).
I am neither type 1 or type 2 diabetic, and choc zero products spikes my blood sugar higher than anything else I've eaten since I started watching my blood sugar.
I'm not any diabetic nor anywhere in my family history but have been Seriously KETO since 21Jun2016... Gave away my choc zero chocolates, jellies & "honey", etc. Spike me badly!
I love the tape they use, it is sticky but plastic feeling. And does not leave a sticky residue, but still a pain to get off. Chocolate cherry is not my fave either. I like those truffle balls but never tried that flavor before.
I really like the cherry almond bark, not a fan of the white chocolate truffles and I really like their white chocolate! My husband is Type 1 diabetic, and as long as he adheres to serving sizes with Choc Zero, he has no glucose spikes!
I do know exactly what you mean about cherry being a difficult flavor to replicate. I had the black cherry jam from choc zero when they made it on a limited run I think and although it was good, it wasnt hitting the right taste for me. Im with Courtney on these though, I think they were def going for the Ferreo Rocher look and selling point but Ive never been a big fan myself.
I had a very strong sense of déjà vu towards the end of this video Steve. When you were saying that you like them on the front end and you like them on the backend. That in combination with something I am working on on my computer, I would swear I’ve lived through this before. 😂😂
I don't trust the resistant dextrose. I feel the same about the modified wheat starch. While I have used the modified wheat starch low carb tortillas as a stand-in for pizza crust, I always seem to stall in my weight loss when I do so. Working on some actual low carb cauliflower pizza crust recipes to find my favorite
@@SeriousKeto the truffles, all the chocolate squares, the jelly, the cookie and hazelnut spreads, cookies, everything. It's so disappointing as I love the taste and texture of their products. I believe it's the resistant dextrin causing the spike. I don't know if it's helpful, but I can't subtract the fiber from the carb calculations for most things, vegetables included, my body is super sensitive to fiber/carbs and it makes controlling my glucose levels super challenging. Happily I have found that I can use bamboo flour with very little effect on my sugar and am experimenting with it. My body is also good with erythritol, stevia, monkfruit, and allulose.
@@dawnhite2693 Bummer. I was hoping that I could isolate the ingredient based on the product. The good thing is that you know that these affect you and that you should avoid them. Thanks for the response.
I too spike alot only in choc Zero products..type 2..its the resistant dextrose. Googled online and found a guy that talks of their products and the spikes..and its resistant dextrose. He had a meter on. @SeriousKeto
shocked you've never had fererre roche truffles before! I can't think of a time in my long life that they haven't been a Christmas staple, lining the aisles of every grocery store! In Edmonton, AB, Canada I can get a Keto version at Christmas time at Poco Loco Bakery & Kitchen (all keto, GF, grain-free) that is amazing!
While I haven’t tried these particular Choc Zero products yet, I have many Choc Zero products and I find that some of their stuff spikes my blood glucose pretty severely (50-60+ points at times) while some of their other products do not. For instance, I can eat their “honey” with barely a spike, but ONE of their caramels spiked my blood sugar very high. So I’m not sure what is going on or why the discrepancies. I am not a diabetic but I am definitely insulin resistant and have had blood sugar issues all of my life. I was pre-diabetic over 3 years ago but got out of that range through keto and low carb eating. My recent A1C was 5.2 so I’m definitely not in that range anymore. I love Choc Zero products and will continue to try them and test to see which ones spike me and which ones don’t. Thanks for your videos Steve!
I appreciate you sharing your experience, especially on the individual products. I'm not sure if it's the non-GMO resistant dextrin, the fructooligosaccharides, or some combination of ingredients that cause some people to experience spikes.
@@SeriousKeto I appreciate your response. I’m not sure either but I’m going to continue to try different things and test and see if I can find a common thread!
Thanks for your honesty-- it's amazing that you got out of the pre-diabetic stage through eating low carb and keto. That's a massive achievement! We're actually working now to remove fructooligosaccharides from a couple more of our products, including caramels, so if that's what your body is reacting to, it might open up the doors to more treats for you to enjoy. I think if the honey didn't cause an issue, then that might be the case! No matter what though, if you try something and it does spike, please reach out to our support team and we'll refund you. We want to support your lifestyle changes the best we can.
@@ChocZerowow, I am so impressed and humbled by your response!! I am always for a company that stands behind their products. Like I mentioned, I love your products- I probably own more than a dozen currently- and I’m still trying to figure out what I can and can’t eat. I love that you’re open to changing the ingredients to make your products more likely to be blood sugar friendly. I usually eat the honey mixed in with raw almonds and cinnamon so it could be the addition of the almonds and cinnamon that help, but I’ve also had it in tea with no blood sugar spike, so it does seem to be OK for me. I was bummed about the caramels - they’re sooo good but I can’t eat them. I recently got some of the chocolate and white chocolate hazelnut spreads so I’m hoping I’ll do ok with those since I’ve heard they are delicious. Thanks again for your reply!!

Thank you for trying our all our different products and loving them-- seriously makes my entire day when I get to chat with folks like you! Yes-- many folks in my family are diabetic and they find that pairing a snack that is high in fiber with a meal with protein and fat can help keep blood sugar levels stable. At first, that's what I was thinking, but now I think she was referring to something more like a dried cherry covered in chocolate. I know she'd never eat a cherry cordial.
Well, color me bummed. I'm Type 2 and did the experiment. I had one cookies and cream bark square and two of the coconut double dipped almonds- not a lot of product for sure. Checked BS before I ate, and it was 81. One hour later it was 123. Then two hours later it was back to 94. I was shocked to be honest. I'm relatively newly diagnosed and I'm still getting the hang of this reality; however, I'm super familiar with a low carb lifestyle and keto. I really thought I was doing myself a favor by opting for the Choczero treats, but it sure seems like a spike to me. I'm going to do more experiments, see if I can pair these with some protein and fats to prevent the jump. It's a bummer though, can't say I'm not sad about this. 😞
I wanted to pop back in to mention that this has made me go on an experimenting excursion over the last few days. I had a 30 point spike from 4 squares (not even close to a full serving) of no sugar added almond/dark chocolate Chocolove the next day, better than Choczero, but a spike nonetheless. Today I threw caution to the wind, and tried some Hail Merry Almond Butter Dark Chocolate cups. These have more carbs in general (12 total, 8 net, 7 grams of sugar) and actual maple syrup in them, so my expectations were low, but to my surprise, it only bumped my BS by 3 points after an hour! I started at 105, was at 108 an hour later, then back down to 93 at the 2 hour mark. This really goes to show that everyone is completely different and it's probably in all our best interests to keep that in mind! I seriously cannot wait until the OTC CGM come out this summer. All of that to say, thanks for the reminder that our miles may vary, Steve!
Serious Steve, please count me as another person who gets a glucose spike from consuming ChocZero. Unfortunately, I had just received a several hundred dollar gift basket choc full of their products (lol) when my CGM gave me the disappointing news. I'm not diabetic (neither type 1 or 2) if that helps with your survey. I'm curious if your stat of 10-15% is based solely from viewers who track their glucose? (i.e. 85-90 out of 100 who do measure do not see any spikes)
Hi Steve. I have tested at least 4 different CZ products and they all gave me more than a 35 point spike. I am not nor have I ever been diabetic. It really bums me out because I love their products in general. I had a large stock of stuff I had to give away too to my non-keto family. A lot of wasted money 😢
Love ur reviews anyway...but darn if I had to be in that small %! I love the Choc Zero products but they do give me a high spike...usually up to about 150 and I am only pre diabetic....my A1C fluctuates betw 5.5 to 5.8 each time I check it!
I have a reaction that sweeteners lower my blood sugars so I have to be careful as I'm hypoglycemic but I've only heard this happening from other people who are hypoglycemic so not sure if others even know it's a thing. I just found out in January when I was experiencing more episodes then I've had since starting to go low carb. And I was eating a few to many choco zero products I got in my ketokrate
I’m more of a dark chocolate & raspberry fan. Not fond of cherries. I’m not diabetic but am doing keto. Will one bark or one chocolate square get me out of ketosis?
I've found that (based on comments to my videos) that 10-20% of people who eat ChocZero experience blood glucose spikes, but I haven't seen any reports of it knocking people out of ketosis.
Hello 👋 y'all I order from Choc Zero and yes it always spikes my sugars I am a type 2 diabetic ..so I started ordering fron diabetic kitchen and I have been more successful with diabetic kitchen products then Choc zero..it is so disappointing because I really enjoy Choc zero products..but need to stay away from them ..
Type 2. Definitely not good for diabetics. Not real sure why you would use clean ingredients only to have 1 absolutely horrible chemical ruin the whole lot. A regular candy bar doesn't raise your glucose as high as this stuff. This is just an expensive version of the 'sugar free' candies you find in stores using maltitol or maltodextrin. 👎
I don't think it's fair of you to make such a sweeping generalization. I've had several diabetics - both type 1 and type 2 - tell me that it DOES NOT spike their glucose. If it spikes yours, then it makes sense to stay away from ChocZero products. But saying that this raises all people's glucose more than a regular candy bar is borderline libelous and inaccurate.
You might try Goalz. No resistant dextrin. I am not diabetic but also got the spike. I think it may have something to do with how our insulin works with this candy. I use a glucose monitor to test out everything regardless of what people say. That said I do like these videos, as it gives me ideas about things to try. BTW, I let chocolate zero know about my spiking and they were very respectful and took the comment in. Perhaps they will try other things for those like us.
@SeriousKeto Steve, I have been watching you from the beginning when you were the chaffle guy. So I'm really surprised and confused by your response toward me. Maybe I mispoke when I said a candy bar doesn't raise 'your' glucose instead of saying 'my' glucose. I was talking about myself as a diabetic. I was also just giving an opinion that you asked for from people who were type 1 or type 2 diabetics. I think pointing out the fact that they use clean ingredients EXCEPT for the dextrin is valid. I don't understand why anyone would do that, especially when a lot of people who do keto eat these products. I also understand that they are not marketing directly to diabetics, but a lot of diabetics turn to these products. Generally speaking, diabetics understand they need to test things for themselves but we also rely on other diabetics experiences to make decisions like hey, maybe xyz product isn't something worth experimenting with because they see how it affects other diabetics. Generally overall these sugar alcohols are not good for diabetics. Even if it doesn't raise your glucose, it can still have an effect on your insulin. I'm sorry you took my opinion as hostile, which is unfortunate.
Where in your comment do you refer to yourself specifically or state that it is an opinion? I didn't take your comment as hostile; I took it as a generalization based on individual experience. Please don't try to paint me as hypersensitive or aggressive here, as I was simply stating how I feel that your comment is not fair.

We were surprised by the dark chocolate royals, too! Folks on our team who don't like dark chocolate at all enjoyed them greatly, so we're glad to hear they were a hit for you, too. Also glad to hear you enjoyed the Dunkies :)
Chocolate and cherry….my favorite! Coconut my second favorite! Thanks Steve and Courtney ❤❤
Both look tempting! Thanks Courtney & Steve
Love reviews! Thanks Steve & Courtney! 😊
I love cherries. I have a beautiful cherry tree which shades my patio. The dark chocolate is the problem.❤️🇨🇦🐕
I liked the Cherry ones, but I wish they were milk chocolate. My ABSOLUTE favorite are the milk chocolate orange.
I don’t like anything dark chocolate
Oddly enough for me , the Dark Chocolate Cherry bark reminded me of the pipe tobacco that my father or grandfather used to have when I was a kid.
I could see that... I hope it was a fond memory. 🙂
I really enjoy the videos with two of you, any two for the different perspectives on taste. It is fun to watch your interactions with each other.
Do you find that all of their products spike you, or just certain ones?
I stopped all of them after I had spikes with almond bark and chocolate mint. Goalz doesn’t have the resistant dextrin. Pretty clean. I avoid spikes as much as possible.
I'm not familiar with that brand. Can it be found in stores?
Enjoyed your review. My wife likes the white chocolate with coconut. Just placed my order. Thanks for the discount code.
The white chocolate balls are a Ferrer Rocher candy dupe. I don't like white chocolate, but Ferrer Rocher ones are coated with coconut flakes and I love them. They even package them the exact way as the Ferrer Rocher.
You and Courtney clearly are more versed in chocolate than I am 😉
@@SeriousKeto I just ordered all three flavors of the Choc Zero Ferrer Rocher dupes using your discount code. Thank you!
Hoagie bun review next week. 😉
Always interesting and fun to see two differing opinions on products. Without having tried either of these, I am not a super-sweet fan and I do like some chocolate and cherry combos so I may be Team Courtney on this taste test. 😀
I have always had a thing about orange and chocolate so cherry sounds appealing to me, as well!!
I love the Dunkies! Especially, the vanilla ones which surprised me because I love Oreos.
Oh I love cherry and chocolate . Almonds!
i bet I'd love the cherry, as the new cherry flavour of Ross Sugar-free Chocolates are my new fav!
I am with Courtney on dark chocolate, I love it.
At first I was excited about the white chocolate coconut truffles, but I’m allergic to Almonds and hazelnuts. 😢
Oh no! Sorry to hear that.
I love white chocolate maybe I should try them.
Having never tried them, I'd probably like the dark chocolate cherry treat. Humm. Likely even the white chocolate, but I like truffles a lot!
I used to be type 2 diabetic, so I read all ingredients, and since choc zero has the resistant dextrin I avoid it. 😢. Better safe than sorry
You gotta look out for yourself. 🙂
I am neither type 1 or type 2 diabetic, and choc zero products spikes my blood sugar higher than anything else I've eaten since I started watching my blood sugar.
All of them, or just certain ones? I'd love to figure out what ingredient, combination, or specific product that affects certain people.
Research online...maltodextrin, corn fiber..all related to resistant starch...@@SeriousKeto
I like the Chocolate/Cherry. Just ordered a 2nd bag. I don’t check blood glucose so can’t comment on spikes.
If they'd just put a little tab to pull the tape off, that would be great.
I really like the cherry almond bark, not a fan of the white chocolate truffles and I really like their white chocolate!
My husband is Type 1 diabetic, and as long as he adheres to serving sizes with Choc Zero, he has no glucose spikes!
Good info. Thanks, Cindy.
Aw, it's amazing to hear that you and your husband can enjoy our goodies! Glad we could provide a dessert that he likes :)
@@ChocZero I have ordered so much from you all, and always talk about Choc Zero, both on my livestreams and to people in general!
@@cindydemanche3839 that's incredibly kind! thank you for loving our treats!
Thanks for the review!
I had a very strong sense of déjà vu towards the end of this video Steve. When you were saying that you like them on the front end and you like them on the backend. That in combination with something I am working on on my computer, I would swear I’ve lived through this before. 😂😂
It’s a glitch in the matrix. 😉
Thanks for honest reviews.
Thanks for the review.
I'm a T2 and sadly their products spike my blood sugars just like regular sugar.
All products or just certain ones? I'd really like to nail down the suspect ingredient(s).
Do some research online of their products. Tastes great but resistant starch and corn fiber maltodextrin..evil..just google and research for yourself.
shocked you've never had fererre roche truffles before!
I've never been much of a candy eater, even pre-keto, so I'm not really aware of the various brands. 🙂
As a T2 the chic zero spikes my glucose 60 points! I like choczero but can’t eat their products anymore which I miss 😢
Thanks for sharing that. I wish I could figure out why some people spike with ChocZero and others don't...
I loved the chunky bar pre keto but I don’t like the dark chocolate cherry
I was excited to try the milk chocolate truffles but they are not enough hazelnuts flavor for me. I enjoy ferrero rocher.

Yes-- many folks in my family are diabetic and they find that pairing a snack that is high in fiber with a meal with protein and fat can help keep blood sugar levels stable. So, it would be like having a piece of chocolate right after dinner OR like you said, have honey on top of some almonds and cinnamon. I think the spread is going to work for you- I personally enjoy it with berries or dip a nut bar into it. But, no matter what you know you can reach out to us and we will support you!
Thanks again for loving our treats and we plan on making all kinds of new stuff for you to try!

I believe that the items Courtney was talking about are cherry cordials
At first, that's what I was thinking, but now I think she was referring to something more like a dried cherry covered in chocolate. I know she'd never eat a cherry cordial.
The people that make ferro roche makes a white chocolate coconut one
Is that sugar free? I rarely find myself in the candy aisle over the last 5 years. 🙂
Thanks for another great review.
It's based purely on a guesstimate from the number of comments I get (not scientific).
That resistant dextrin stuff really messes with my belly. I can't eat that, or chicory root at all.
Fortunately, I don't have that experience.
I'm the same way with chicory root, it automatically goes back on the shelf!
I love dark chocolate, cherries, and hazelnuts. I don't like white chocolate.
I haven’t checked to see if the have dark chocolate royal truffles.
I’m spiking and I am not diabetic.
The chocolate Royal Truffles taste just like Ferrero Rocher.
That would confirm Courtney's assessment. 🙂

I haven’t had Amaretto for 40 years or more when a snuck a swig from my dad’s liquor cabinet. Wasn’t a fan.

@@joane8651 okay, the Crunch/Krackel bars. The ChocZero products don’t taste like those.

@@mpoharper Thank you. I have not heard of Goalz. 👍
