Funny how my dark and edgy 7th grade self thought this was boring and too happy. As a 9th grader, I love this show, it's so beautiful and seething with huge personality in the marching and music. YAY Cedar Park
This has to be one of my favorite Cedar Park shows of all time (in front of 2011). Minimal fluff and theatrics, the music just says it all. The sound is so full and loud throughout the show, and the technique at 2:45 makes my jaw drop every time. With all the trend nowadays towards more theatrical BOA-style shows, Cedar Park reminds us how much can still be done with just top-notch playing and marching.
Having 16 years of marching and show writing, when I wandered upon this piece of Band Heaven. There is nothing I can say that can effectively convey how spectacular this performance was to me. Thank You.
When we went to state we stayed for three days in San Antonio (I'm in the Mineola High School band) and we went to see the 4A 5A bands and Cedar Park will forever be my fave and their show was just phenomenal. I'm so glad they got first at state!
The Nessun Dorma arrangement brought me to tears the first time I heard it. Now it just makes my hair stuck up. You guys make such a big and beautiful sound.
Made it back to this performance and can't say enough. Incredible arrangements. Great use of field. Very effective dynamics to convey mood. Not a huge guard, but a most effective guard. Musicality and Visual Interest are non-stop.
I have been to the Grand Nationals and it is a very exciting, special event. All of the bands are outstanding and most are their states championship band. Texas ALWAYS does well. Since Texas class 6A will be competing in the fall, there probably will not be any 6A schools attending the Grand Nationals this year...they usually compete in state but skip GN. So, Cedar Park you'll probably be the only Texas entry this fall but you will have to bring home the Gold Metal and keep the Texas tradition alive without help from the big schools.
+ProjectLemonHqQ other Texas Schools going to GN include James Bowie HS, Ronald Reagan HS, and Claudia Taylor Johnson HS. (Interestingly all 3 of these schools are competing in 6A)
+Andrew Thompson Seems a little strange that they would compete in Texas State Championship and also the GN...they are only just a very few days apart. Those are usually outstanding bands, so looks like Texas will be well represented
Reagan competed at both in 2012, and made finals in both. It seems more feasible for these schools to pull it off since Reagan and Johnson are in San Antonio and Bowie is just up the road in Austin. At any rate, Texas will make its presence known again at Grand Nationals this year. :)
what traditions? This is gay core bands... Military bands are traditionally played in America and Texas still played in Piney woods of Texas Cough Cough spring hill goes to state gets 1-1-1-5-5 from core judges as military band Cough Cough that's tradition!
It's strange to hear this bands' performance because there differences in the way our band performs it from theirs. I sure hope we can do well with their show this year.
Brilliant choice of music and very well played. I really like this performance. Wish they were going to the Grand Nationsls...I believe they would do well there.
This is the Pre-lims performance. The trombone quartet was tuned to be flat because someone told us that it was really hot in there. But when we walked in, it was super cold!! The guys and I in the quartet played much more in tune in finals!! 😁😁
band is a lot bigger deal in texas than it is really anywhere else haha.....its cut throat sometimes but at the end of day we all love one another haha
Denver Satterwhite Very true! I go to a new school and last year our show was small, but we started late and had to work extra hard just to get it done! Hopefully this next year we can do more with a bigger band and more prep
Wow, I feel like some of the kids with the huge tubas that walk a lot, or even the color guard is working hard than the actual celebrities. Mind blown.
I'm not so sure it would of placed higher than 5th. Would of had to beat Carmel, Mason, and Avon, Hebron, and BA. Maybe Carmel and Mason but not the rest. Debatable certainly though.
We can only go out of state every 2 years... and they didn’t want to put the kids through going to BOA SA and then going back for state and THEN a 22 hour bus ride to Indianapolis. Besides, BOA shows have to be longer to even be CONSIDERED for the semifinals
Galactic Bleachman No, it was just a pretty irrelevant comment lol Before the Leander schools came into 5A the big dogs were Poteet and Friendswood for a really long time. I would also say Frisco Wakeland and Dripping Springs but they weren't in the mix till I think the mid-to-late 2000s
Hi there. I will not be there. With the blanket ban UIL has on recording and the fact I cannot bring a camcorder into the Alamodome unless you have written permission, I won't be there. Plus I have a new job and cannot take off work for 3 days to watch. My channel might be done in terms of recording new content.
UIL Classification is based on the student population of a high school. You can have one of the smallest classifications, 1A, have 60 students in the band out of 100 students in the high school while large 6A high schools (2200+) have only 30-40 students in the band.
In a few years cedar park will move to 6a... and all if we still have a decent band ( which we won’t because this is the final year of an historic era at cp) Just imagine us battling Leander Vista Ridge Vandy RR Arrowhead
Here is the thing... cedar park had already won state twice before Vandy. Vandy may have a richer program, but we get more points than them because our shows have harder music and have color. There shows are just loud and hurts the judge’s ears

We played them tonight; their front ensemble was bigger than our whole band. We lost 36 to zero.
Cedar Park is a huge (Don't forget rich) school so I wasn't surprised when I saw the scoreboard that night.
We're nicknamed Cedar Poor because we get almost no funding.
We aren't really rich. We just get a lot of appreciated support from parents and fundraisers.
Well said Amanda.
I miss playing with you guys.
Blayce Woodward It's okay, we played them two weeks ago and we lost 66 to 0

That tuba soli was fucking perfect.

Alan Tedder wow congrats! Is this year a state year for y'all?
Alan Tedder Tell everyone at New Deal they aren't ready for Clarksville this year.. we plan to take it all!
congrats @ state this year
I LOVE their music selection
The Nessun Dorma arrangement brought me to tears the first time I heard it. Now it just makes my hair stuck up. You guys make such a big and beautiful sound.
Tyler McCabe you should check out the dci version of it. Truly amazing
There’s no way around it. This is an excellent and extremely enjoyable show.
Cedar Park Drumline FTW
Love it at 4:40...great big warm soulful notes
Made it back to this performance and can't say enough. Incredible arrangements. Great use of field. Very effective dynamics to convey mood. Not a huge guard, but a most effective guard. Musicality and Visual Interest are non-stop.
Sort of an ode to "Finis", one of my favorite Crown shows. Small guard, but fantastic.

+Kenneth Mills Nah, Leander (and I tink Vandegrift, but I'm not too sure at the moment) are going as well, along with some other schools.

Love the carolina crown inspiration!
me too! this reminds me so much of crown 08'! I love seeing drum corps influence bands!
Wow! A lot of university bands couldn't do so well. Excellent job! Thanks.
DAMN
these are some nice lines the best I've seen so far. I am part of the Seguin Matador Band GO MATS
It's strange to hear this bands' performance because there differences in the way our band performs it from theirs. I sure hope we can do well with their show this year.
The marching band that I'm in , will be doing this show for the 2016 Marching competition at the San Antonio Alamo Dome , pretty exciting!
good luck. It will almost be impossible to top C.P. and I don't even like corps style haha! Best of Luck to yall
Our directors saw this performance and showed us the next day and everyone literally gave a standing ovation after it finished
+brianna white Where are you located?
That's amazing! I'm in that band!
This was the best show from 2015 that I've seen!!
Brilliant choice of music and very well played. I really like this performance. Wish they were going to the Grand Nationsls...I believe they would do well there.
+Kenneth Mills I'm a flutist in the band, and we are going to Grand Nats next year,
Zachary S.B. Awesome! Break a leg!!!
We are going to Grand Nationals next year. Well, I'm not because I'm a senior, I'm really upset about that.
This is the Pre-lims performance. The trombone quartet was tuned to be flat because someone told us that it was really hot in there. But when we walked in, it was super cold!! The guys and I in the quartet played much more in tune in finals!! 😁😁
Amanda Esteves it still sounded great
Thanks!
I'm In one of the top bands In Tennessee are going to a competition called southern states it has all the bands from the south
Most of them I should say
But you guys were loud and proud the whole time good job
phenomenal
the closer is soooo good. Love it
Looking forward to competing against such a great band program this Saturday at Austin!
Emmanuel Acevedo
I can't wait either. What school do you go to?
Well we kinda fd it up at finals but it was super close. What band are you from?
BONES
My band Chisholm Trail went to state that year we made like 22nd I hope we can take it back to state
magnificent
i might be moving here from florida. very nervous because this looks like a very hard show.
If the freshmen there can do it, you can do it

+Andrea Valdez oh i do....i promise haha! but overall we must admit its great!
Truly amazing.
The marimba makes my heart melt😍
really nice sound
Love this!!❤️
Please go to state and record the bands this year!!
2015 was my last year because the stadium staff were confiscating equipment.
For some reason I can just imagine the academy doing this show
Wow, I feel like some of the kids with the huge tubas that walk a lot, or even the color guard is working hard than the actual celebrities. Mind blown.
OMG so awesome no wonder you all got 1st.. Nice.
They made their band x10 better than us.
Amazinggggg 😍 ❤️
1:19-1:36 is Carolina Crown 2008 Finis opener. How original haha
i like how trombones always get slow, sexy melodies. that was pretty good on the bones :D :D :D :D
Why couldn't we go to grand nationals with this show
I'm not so sure it would of placed higher than 5th. Would of had to beat Carmel, Mason, and Avon, Hebron, and BA. Maybe Carmel and Mason but not the rest. Debatable certainly though.

Ceder park made their band x10 better than forney.
I'm from forney and I agree. These guys are really good.
Seth Cano thanks for the back up
LPSCats Tv so was Forney the band that was like the best 5a for a while?
Galactic Bleachman No, it was just a pretty irrelevant comment lol Before the Leander schools came into 5A the big dogs were Poteet and Friendswood for a really long time. I would also say Frisco Wakeland and Dripping Springs but they weren't in the mix till I think the mid-to-late 2000s
MySlenderGames but what about the woodlands and all the big big guys. When did they come Into the picture
Hey Sorge ; Check out Ronald Reagan HS tuba solo . It may actually be better
I heard them both live at BOA, and they are awesome.
The best 4A Highschool Port Isabel did amazing at state 😄 and they did this show
Wow
I can’t even rn
Music in 1:49?
watching this wondering who could’ve possibly beat them that they got 2/31
Will you be at 5A state finals this year??
Hi there. I will not be there. With the blanket ban UIL has on recording and the fact I cannot bring a camcorder into the Alamodome unless you have written permission, I won't be there. since when is 5A that big?
IKR we are bigger than many 6a bands but our school is 121 students off from being 6a
Guy Man I keep forgetting its off school size not program size. Our school (Midland Lee) is a 6A, but still about this size.
Since 6a
What’s the name of the first song?
I’m laughing at the comment I made a while ago:
Cedar Park won by just dancing, that makes no sense. Good job LPScats Tv.
What was the score?
It's in the description. 2nd in prelims, 1st in finals.
@@rocketfan86 ye, but what was the score they received, X/100
@@fioletovium7801 UIL does not do a scoring system like this.
@@rocketfan86 alright thank you

I feel like they're gonna be constantly winning state now that vandegrift moved up to 6a
5A 1st & 2nd is probably gonna be them and Dripping Springs for the foreseeable future

JimboTheSquid yeah but that’s BOA where they look for all the fancy stuff

1:19-1:36 is Carolina Crown 2008 Finis opener. How original haha
Michael Looney the marching director was drum major for Crown in 2008
@@bendattilo6724 still very original lol. But hey every band does it.
