- The Penguins will raise two-time Stanley Cup Champion Jaromir Jagr’s no. 68 jersey to the rafters at PPG Paints Arena on February 18 versus the Los Angeles Kings as part of a pre-game celebration.
As part of the ‘Celebrate 68’ festivities, all fans in attendance that night will receive a replica Jagr No. 68 banner. In addition, a commemorative Jagr bobblehead has been added as a giveaway to all fans in attendance on Thursday, March 14 versus the San Jose Sharks.

Mario was still retired when I first started watching the Penguins, so Jagr was the superstar that helped me fall in love with the game. I am so happy to hear his jersey is being retired. It is long overdue. One of the greatest ever.
U missed perfection my friend they were majic together..pick ur poison that.90s teams were offensively one of the most skilled ever assembled at 65 ive seen all them from the 70s to bankruptcy to top of the heap
Yes, indeed they were. I became a fan the 1991 season. Watching ever since. @@johnrencheck2283
born in 93 and yep i felt that, when I was a little kid I never saw lemieux til he made his comeback, all the first hockey games i remember watching were all jagr so this means a lot to me too, i think people who were older at the time underestimate how much of an era he was for kids
68 & 66....what a lethal pair of talents. So lucky to have witnessed them.
*I'm still hoping that when he retires from the game completely, Jagr will sign a one-day contract with the Pens and officially retire with them.*
This needs to happen!
One more shift!
Ain't happenin'. Jags will never retire. #68
looks like dreams come true for us 🙂
Thanks for the memories 68
Just had my 30+ year old #68 home jersey dry-cleaned last week :)
Not a penguins fan, but Jagr is one of the greatest ever. A true legend of the game.
Well he played for 22 other teams. He must have had a stay in your town at some point lol.
@@bordy217😂
Jaromir is still as handsome as ever at 51! I can't help but still love him.
Member of tripple gold club, it says everything
Thank You Jaromir Jagr You Will Always Be A Pittsburgh Penguins🐧🖤💛 Legend
68 and 66. What else? Perfect. The reason I'm a hockey fan.
68 up there with 66
Long overdue, Jagr is a legend
Overdue? He just quit playing a year ago
They were waiting until he could show up for it.
@@patientmental875 He left Pittsburgh 22 years ago
@@nadaduo1765 You can't retire a number until they retire from professional hockey.
@@patientmental875 he's still playing
And the best part is he is still playing...
congratulations Jagr 🥳
My all time favorite player and the reason why I became a Pens fan.
It’s about time!
this has made my day. Jags deserves all this and more
Who else would deserve it more? Jagr is absolutely LEGEND and i am poud that I could watch his game...
Pittsburgh loves you too, Jaromir!
Godspeed 🌟💫
68 is a GOD in the penguins organization and the NHL! He has some of the nastiest hands ever! He could dangle with the puck like no one ever could! He is still playing I think 🤔 😂!👏👏👏👏
With respect to 87, 71 and 58, 66 & 68 made the franchise.
I grew up on Francis, Lemieux, and Jagr in the 90's. Still to this day I think Jagr was the most powerful forward I ever seen, and damn was his hands gifted haha.
Francis*
@@CyanideChrist1-uf2du autocorrect did that when I put it in correctly.
Legend. 🫡
One more trip for the Travelling Jagrs!
👍👍😊 When Mario Lemieux tells It is the greatest goal he ever seen…
Well deserved, the 2nd GOAT of Pittsburgh behind Mario during the 90’s
Legendary!
Great memories. I was an 18 year old freshman at Pitt during Jagr's 1st season!
I've never seen something more overdue than this ... Congrats Jagr
I always said if I was in the NHL I’d wear 67 to be right between the two greatest Penguins of the 90’s!
I'm honestly surprised his number hasn't been retired yet, he deserves it. I'm a Leafs and Golden Knights fan, but I fully support the retirement of a true legend!
We need a photo that night of 66, 68, 71, 87, 58 all together. All their numbers will be up one day. Too bad fleury can’t be there as well.
MAF held them back Should have had at least two more with him Very disappointing
@@pattybosak9947 won 3 you can’t be mad at that
We will miss you and very proud for what you did to help us/pens your a great person have a good time off
Thank You Jagr!
In a game against the Kings. Wow, they found an opponent he never played for. Impressive. 😉
Funny.
The Traveling Jagrs had BETTER all be there!
I had 3 cats growing up. They were called "Jagr" "Mario" and "Sidney." Such memories watching the Pens with the family thay I'll never forget.
The smile at the end was amazing.
It’s about damn time
It’s about damn it
My fav player and pen forever. I will be in attendance to cheer this great man playet
You ever seen the "Jagorim Jarg" rookie card? Worth the Google!
As a Flyers fan there was definitely a love hate relationship with Jagr and the Penguins. To actually witness Jagr play especially in his prime was amazing. His lower body strength was insane. He was so hard to knock him off the puck.
Insane to think of all the greats that the Pens have had.
Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby, Malkin, Francis, Fleury, Barrasso, Murphy, Letang, Trottier, Mullen, Coffey, Recchi, plus so many more and now EK65 too.
I feel very lucky as a Pens fan.
Long overdue 🎉
Finally it's about time.
#68 Thank you Legend!🐧
Well overdue. Congratulations #68
My guy!!!! Love this man!!!!
Thanks for the Memories I was in your bar in Czechoslovakia glass Stanley Cup my son had the long hair just like you playing hockey and your jersey on his back we live in New York City thank you again
long overdue, love to see it. One of the greatest ever
So many moments I watched. 68
I was never a pits fan but mario and jagar I really liked. I couldn't get into crosby though. But two out of three isn't bad lol. Congratulations on this milestone and retirement.
Gaht Damn Jags was a beaut. All I can say is it’s about time!
About damn time
Best choice ever. Nobody can have the 68 in Pittsburg, like 66 for me 😀
chills
Pens, this should have been done long ago. Jagr took ahl caliber pen teams post mario to the playoffs winning a few scoring titles and an mvp along the way. y'all pen dans should be grateful to have had jagr and that four teams passed on him in '90 first round and BOW DOWN TO JAGR.
Awesome!!
Absolute Beauty🐧68🐧
about dang time!
I heard they’re re-opening Donzi’s for the after-party!
🍸🥃🥂❄️
Hahahahahaha!!!
Děkujeme. ❤
Long overdue. Love this guy. One of my favorite all time players. Only wish he could have retired in a Penguins uniform. Can't wait for this night ❤
YES!
wow, i didnt think he would ever accept the offer.
He wanted to wait until he was fully done
He was treated badly by Pittsburgh fans after he was sold! Everyone thought he wanted out & that wasnt the case!
@@patientmental875 You must have forgot the Pens gave him a chance to comeback in 2012, and he turned them down for Philly!!! Also provide proof that he did NOT want out???
@@gaslandrights17452011*
@@gaslandrights1745 He would have stayed if they could have payed him, its well known! Would you stay at your job for peanuts if you were the best at it? The Pens were hurting for money at the time, he was sold for 5 million as part of the trade
Yesssss! This needed to happen years ago! So deserved!!!
Jags, your next Kit-Kat is on me.
🎉PEN4LIFE.
It was so fun when I was there
Please have him suit up and play a shift!
We once had 66 and 68. Then later we had 87 and 71. What's next? As a life long Pens fan, I can't wait.
Just gotta wait for tank job 3.0 when next franchise guy comes along.
About time
Long overdue!
He almost hasnt aged
Супер игрок! Легенда мирового хоккея.
Anybody else a little disappointed that the 'retirement game' wasn't against a team that he already played for?
Good career jarg
Fix the date in the thumbnail. 2/18/23?!?! Did we miss it!
Thank you!
Noticed that immediately
FINALLY
Finally the Jagr has come back to Pittsburgh
Great news. Long overdue. Time to let bygones be bygones and welcome him back home.
Let him play one more game with you guys
ruutu tootoo!!
❤
I feel like it's not really late or overdue...
The beast of a machine just kept playing well into his 40s so they couldn't retire his number 😂. Or is that not a rule? Idk
About time!
That fact that he almost signed with the Pens this season is remarkable, he could probably still outplay a bunch of NHLers today at his age
That didn't almost happen lol. It was a joke
It hurts to say this, but he would be a better fit on the 4th line than Jeff Carter
jagr will always be a penguin..
Great news. Bring the tissues that night. Won't be a dry eye in the building.
Final
Hope he plays.....and gets a hat trick...lol
Akward when he comes back in a San Jose uniform in 2025
Jagr
they should wear the reverse retros that night.
this is long overdue.
Long overdue
I'm not saying he doesn't deserve this cause he does, but did everyone forget when he was coming back to us in 2012 and skipped over to Philly, even with him being as great as he was I'm surprised everyone has forgotten he never came back to us,
JAROMIR = MARIO JR
I didnt know he still played in the Penguins
It's long overdue! Jagr kept this team afloat when Mario was retired, and I think people forget just how great he was. In my opinion, despite how good Malkin is,I would still rank Jagr behind only Mario and Sid as the greatest players in Pens history.
Is he retiring? It seems so.
He said in the offseason that he was going to play again this year.
I check the Kladno Knights stats every now and then and so far he hasn't played.
However, last year he didn't start playing until about the halfway point of the season over there. 🤷♂️
:)
when Jarg retires from Hockey in 2064, the #68 will be prohibited from every sport.
THIS IS NOT A DRILL
