I 've shaped character and musical tastes around this album. It's been a huge part of my life for the last 17 years, so it's amazing to see a cover that truly makes it justice. Man, I’ve got to thank you so much for doing the whole album. I’ve learnt the whole album from your videos and I never thought I’d do it. Yet now all I have left to learn is Finally Free. You’re covers are brilliant, always accurate. As a 13 year old drummer, learning this album is by far the most ambitious thing I’ve done. The Dance Of Eternity and Beyond This Life are the ones I find the hardest. But despite that I’ve still been able to nail them. Portnoy is favourite drummer (along with Joey Jordison) and you inspired me to learn the whole album. I play the entire song almost exactly the same, apart from the solo section... Even Mike Portnoy doesn't play the solo section exactly as it is in the record when performing the song live, so don't hate me for that! ;) It's supposed to be an improvised section, and that's what I did! ;)

The real version has an improvised section. "Improvised" means it's different every time you play it! ;) Even Mike Portnoy doesn't play it exactly the same every time!
That's the point! They are improvised fills! Not even Portnoy plays them exactly as they are in the album when he performs the song live! It's ok if you don't like my interpretation - that's always a matter of preference and I respect that - but don't expect me to play an improvised section exactly like someone else... It loses all meaning of "improvisation"!
I really think mangini a monster on the drums, very technical, but I think, it worsened the sound of the DT, in my opinion, the best disc after the exit of the MP was A dramatic turn of events, which was already with the concept ready , then went downhill. my point of view is, mangini is a a drummer to teach, as he did, I particularly do not like the sonority of it in the records of the band and I think it does not add anything. I think the band was wrong to choose it, maybe Marco Minnemann was better!
Well, the producer is more responsible for the sound than the drummer, but I see your point. In terms of performance, I actually like him a lot! He thinks a lot like a classical musician, so he orchestrates his parts around the kit in a very interesting way, and he plays a lot with dynamics, ghost notes etc. So I believe he brings some new and interesting things in the band. Now whether someone likes that or not is totally subjective and I won't argue against you on that - we all have our personal taste. I just strongly disagree with the very popular opinion (at least online) that he is only a machine and doesn't bring anything new to the band etc etc etc

Just something I noticed while enjoying your absolutely spectacular video... the chimes at the beginning of the song were absent. Would this be because you may be using a drum-less track to record your video? I've grown to love your videos and can say you've become one of my favorite drummers (being one myself.) The last part is an improvisation. Even Mike Portnoy doesn't play it exactly as it is on the record when he plays it live, so there was no reason for me to learn it exactly as it is - it wouldn't be improvised if I did that!

Uno stile molto personale. Si sente che volutamente non hai tributato l'originale. Peccato che non si sente menare forte come si dovrebbe. Gli accenti fanno parte della dinamica! sembrava più una batteria da accompagnamento. Cmq gradevole all'ascolto anche se mi pare un po fuori tempo in alcuni cambi. Mi scuso se ho detto cose che possono aver dato fastidio, ma ogni parere é utile

Sorry dude, what makes the last part epic is the fills, and he didn't do any of them like MP or even Mangini..
That's the point! They are improvised fills! Not even Portnoy plays them exactly as they are in the album when he performs the song live!
It's ok if you don't like my interpretation - that's always a matter of preference and I respect that - but don't expect me to play an improvised section exactly like someone else... It loses all meaning of "improvisation"!

Mangini is doing a great job in DT, though!
I really think mangini a monster on the drums, very technical, but I think, it worsened the sound of the DT, in my opinion, the best disc after the exit of the MP was A dramatic turn of events, which was already with the concept ready , then went downhill.
my point of view is, mangini is a a drummer to teach, as he did, I particularly do not like the sonority of it in the records of the band and I think it does not add anything.
I think the band was wrong to choose it, maybe Marco Minnemann was better!
Well, the producer is more responsible for the sound than the drummer, but I see your point.
In terms of performance, I actually like him a lot! He thinks a lot like a classical musician, so he orchestrates his parts around the kit in a very interesting way, and he plays a lot with dynamics, ghost notes etc. So I believe he brings some new and interesting things in the band. Now whether someone likes that or not is totally subjective and I won't argue against you on that - we all have our personal taste. I just strongly disagree with the very popular opinion (at least online) that he is only a machine and doesn't bring anything new to the band etc etc etc
