- Wassup guys! Here's my rendition of Dream Theater's The Glass Prison :)
I had a great time learning and performing all the cool drum parts and for this video I played pretty much the same massive config that Mike Portnoy used to record this masterpiece back in 2001.
I recorded this in September 2016 (well, almost a year ago D'oh!) for a collab that has never seen the light and I thought that it would be cool to share it with you now that MP is finally playing this song live again for his Shattered Fortress tour.
This is a big celebration and a personal tribute to MP and DT, I grew up listening to them, I saw them performing live several times and I also had the opportunity to meet them personally and to play a Cirque du Soleil show with some of them in the audience (OMG it was unreal eheh)!
As you may know, this is the opening track of the Twelve-step Suite, a set of 5 songs which deal with MP's past experience of alcoholism.
The Glass Prison contains the first 3 parts of the Suite (“Reflection”, “Restoration” and “Revelation”) and it is one of the heaviest (and most challenging I'd say!) tracks from the entire DT's repertoire.
I loved Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence back in the days, and I still love it. Great combination of Progressive, Metal and Experimental stuff...exactly what I'm mostly into! :)

I challenge ANYONE to produce a better cover of this song. It's clear that Vadrum has studied it at length to create such a faithful note for note performance. I've subbed to this channel for 10 years and this guy just keeps on giving. Incredible work, can't wait for the next part!!!!

As a former drummer and avid fan of Dream Theater and Mike Portnoy, this has to be one the most complicated song to remember and play. You absolutely nailed it. I will watch again. Keep pounding the skins.

I probably have at least 100 views alone at this point and i have to say i have fun watching it every time. your charisma of playing is astounding.
