Whoa Nelley, it's a Dart and it's played its part. That's a Kiwanis Club sticker. Their mission is to help children and communities for children. They were founded in 1915 in Detroit, MI and the name comes from the Ojibwe language which has the intended meaning of "We Build". We got the VIN, we win: L for Dodge Dart, H for High Price class, 41 for four door sedan, G for 318 V8 with two barrel, 2 for 1972 model year, R for Windsor, Ontario Canada assembly and the rest is the production sequence. As noted previously, the Windsor plant still operates today and is the minivan plant for Stellantis (Chrysler). That's an older Standard Motor Products box as they haven't used that text on boxes in a long time. They are still located at 37-18 Northern Blvd in Long Island City, NY 11101, which is Queens county in NY. The building is a city block long from Standard Lane to 39th Street and is an Art Deco type building. However, the manufacturing moved out of Queens a number of years back. No, I'm good, we won't save that one. LOL. I did come across the #42793 Craftsman ratchet that you sent me and that's still working well after the rebuild I did to it. People ask me about that all the time. I left the patina, but it works like new. I have two more coming this week off of Ebay, they are newer 1/4" drive model 44807 USA made units that are "loose" according to the seller. Shouldn't take much to make them work well again. No, it was not bottom of the barrel since it's a "high" price class. The Dart could be had as a "low" price (2nd digit of "L" in the VIN). class too. We got the tag, we can brag: H51 for single AC and heater, L31 for fender mounted turn signals, M21 for roof rail drip moldings, M88 for lower deck lid molding, R11 for Music Master AM radio, V5X for black body side molding, V1W for full white vinyl roof, U for US spec vehicle, C12 for shoulder belts, F11 for 60A/65A/70A alternator (depending on the source you reference), G33 for LH outside remote mirror, GY4 for Light Gold exterior paint, F4Y3 for Ember Gold interior trim, 125 for 1/25/72 scheduled production which was a Monday, E44 for 318 V8 with two barrel, D34 for Torqueflite automatic transmission, and the VIN was decoded above. 1972 was the first year for Chrysler's electronic ignition so that's probably what the decal is referring to on the valve cover. Chrysler's powertrains were excellent, but the fuel control and carburetion hooked to it were awful and that lead to frustrated owners. Yes, I'll bet that 318 will fire right up. The Chrysler AC compressor was also a snow cone and rivaled the A-6 GM axial "log" compressor for how much vapor you could get to come from the vents. Chryslers venting system always looked "added on". LOL. Whoa Nelley, 1972 and it's over for you. 3-1-8 and still great. Junk in the trunk. The wrench will go on the bench. Texas suntan and ready for the trash can. That's it, time to quit. Light Gold and full of mold. Not a leaning Tower of Power, and it's still got some hours. Get the tools, don't be a fool. Going to be flat and that's that. The Dart will soon be off the chart. MOPAR not going very far. Going to get squished and the Pentastar faithful are all going to be very pissed.
My 72 340 Duster did not have that decal on the valve cover and the 72 Roadrunner didn't either but the Roadrunner was a 400 two barrel and l don't recall seeing one those myself. And both had electronic ignition.
@@garymckee448 I'm hazarding a guess based on 1972 being the first year for electronic ignition. Possibly could have been a Windsor only plant thing, but I doubt it. Could have been something for the adjustments on the carburetor, who knows.
@@googleusergp I agree l have never seen one of those before unless on maybe a government vehicle but Chrysler used metal tags and that vehicle didn't look like a government vehicle with those options.
I grew up in a car exactly like this-right down to the "wheat" color. We had until it until 1984 when we lived in Bullhead City,AZ on 1357 Trane Road down the street from the Minit-Serv they built in 1986. I've had 19 of these over the years and I still have a soft spot for them.
My dad had a 78 diplomat wagon 318 2 bbl. Pulled a sleeps 8 Viking pop up camper like it wasn't even there 70-80 mph on the L.I. expressway left lane . He was NYPD did not care about getting pulled over.
Benny ,thanks a lot for all the entertaining and informative video's from those classic american cars of beter times.I enjoy and appriciat your effort of showing us around these marvelous scrapyards a lot.A longtime viewer from the Netherlands .
My aunt had 1972 Dart Swinger 2 door. She bought it new and drove it for 14 years. The slant 6 ran like a top. MN rust and a slipping transmission took it's toal on it. My brother also had a new 1972 Dart Demon. V8 stick shift. He drove that for 14 years also. Rusted out.
Lots of good parts on that dart Lots of options on that car. Built in Windsor Ontario Canada. Wonder if my dad was working when that came down the line
I'm old enough to remember these cars. It seems like the parents of every one I knew growing up had a Dart/Valiant/Duster variant at some point. Of course, most of them rusted out in less than 5 years up here (north of the border). Impressive to see one that is 50 years old with mostly surface rust.
@@martinliehs2513 Same here. I remember them. Several in my family and around my neighborhood growing up. By the mid-80s they were pretty much all gone.
They were all new at one time. Made runs to the store, on vacations, to work. Maybe a first date, a few parties, a trip to see family, whatever. If these cars could talk, they would tell volumes of stories.
Cool classic I had a big dodge maxi van it was a 1976 it was junker it was gray i gave $150 for it back in 2003 it had a 318 for such a heavy van I end up junking it it needed alot of work done to it the weight was 6100lbs in side the door it had a Vin number it showed the weight this dodge dart weighs 4630lbs when he open the door it showed the weight what a classic
You should have grabbed the grille and bezells, getting rare. Front and rear bumpers were great. Front clip would fit any A body. You need a small into to Mopar Vins, fifth letter is always the engine code
There are yards around here as well that don't let people go in. Maybe insurance reasons or because sometimes people break things while trying to remove parts. To a smaller extent, possibly to avoid stealing small stuff
Well, it has the AC/V8 radiator...but no shroud or clutch fan, so not HD cooling. The AC conversion parts are there, the grille, switches, trim bits- the K-member? '73-up spool mounts & the discs are much better bolt-ins.
That was once a pretty nice car given that it's a Dart. It has the V8 engine, factory AC and the somewhat rare deluxe interior with fold-down armrest in the front. You could not get a center armrest in a '72 Nova or Maverick. With an 111" wheelbase, it was almost a mid-sized car.
That grill is Definitly worth money its a one or two year grill and usable on the dodge demons as well . but it has to be very clean for good money.they ate prone to hair line cracks all over them . and easy breakage / crumbling .

Wow, I was totally expecting a slant six. Probably a 2bbl 318, she must’ve had a little get up ‘n go in her day!
