It’s always advisable to change brake shoes when you have had wheel cylinder leaking as the shoes get contaminated from the fluid leak. For the price of shoes not worth the risk. Love your content 👍 From across the pond 🇬🇧
The problem with buying cars that need a lot of love is, you end up loving them. You spend all your time looking at forums from 15+ years ago to find secrets to fix annoying issues, You then spend money buying crazy parts like turbos and injectors because you don't have to worry about voiding the warranty, and then when you finally get it on the road, you always get nervous driving it places because you don't know if you'll make it back home. Then some weird thing happens where you find yourself driving it more than your nice daily...ask me how I know haha
I've been watching your brother's channel since before he even owed Leroy, I've also watched your videos since you first got Dr Pepper. This is one of my favorite videos you've put out. It's simple, to the point, and very satisfying but very relatable and motivating to the average person educating them to save a couple of bucks and do it themselves. 10/10 sir! Keep the content coming!
I found my dad's '84 Chevy Comodoro 30 years after he sold it. We bring it back home in a almost 1600 miles travel in the hotest day of the year. It was in a aparently good shape, but the 2.5 4cil smoked as the rings spins in the pistons...bad brakes, springs heated to low it down...that was one the most exhaustive trips that I've done so far. But, with a smile in the face all the time, even when run out of gas in a 105° summer sun... Now, almost 7 years after, changed the tired 4cil to a 250 in line 6, with 525b isky camshaft, head, valves, Weber 40 carb, dual exhaust and other little things. It may be small for you guys in US, but here in Brasil is a standard and satisfatory upgrade for the 6 cylinder and fits the car very well, since it's very light and compact compared to american standards. Of course it's a unsellable car that I hope to stays in the family for generations.
I have a 96 2500 that had a V10 in it until i swapped in a 12 valve and a 5 speed. I remember this truck from back in the day, i was so bummed out when you sold it. @@DoctrParker I'm actually on the hunt for something similar to tow a travel trailer maybe 6 times a year, any suggestions? (not huge, like 7500lbs loaded)
Only thing I do differently when bleeding is a take a air pump hose and water bottle, put it on the bleeder and a little fluid in the bottle with the hose under the fluid, crack the valve and pump the brakes. It will let air out but won’t let air back in.
Love seeing the 2G back Parker remember when you did the tug of war when Garrett had just bought the track haha. Gonna drop a comment under this about a video idea.
Ever thought about doing a video on the ins and outs of your dentist office. So it really helps show why it cost so much for dental work with all the tools and things. Being you own you’re own office I don’t think people really understand how expensive it really is not counting schooling
The detailing was satisfying, and the new steering wheel brought it back. Hope you keep upgrading it. But more aggressive tires and shes good to go for an old truck
I say this with some degree of experience and knowledge of the 24-25 Rams. You put on new tires, brakes, caught up on maintenance, detailed it along with some love for the exterior. Without reservation and with little concern for the mileage, you have a better truck than the current model years. To be honest, saving nearly $100K while, at least I think, getting a truck with more dependability along with a truck even a novice can watch a few minutes of RUclips then repair and/or maintain for pennies on the dollar compared to the current model years. $100K plus or well under $10K -- given both have good AC -- a load of stinky garbage, crossties from HomeDepot, or loading up brush from the latest hurricane, neither the truck nor the cargo it hauls gives one hoot in hell what the truck cost.
Yea man I completely agree. I will say my $100k truck is a lot more comfortable to drive but why have all that money in a depreciating asset. Switching it up for now to full time on the 12 valve and selling the expensive truck.
Too cool. I’m working on getting my ‘98 with a 12valve 5 speed back up and running. It has 358,000 miles on it. I’m actually on the same wheels, which are from a third gen.
Id love to see a full service, valve adjustment and re placing those leaking seals so when it leaks again (because cummins life) you can say its the cummins way !
Beautiful, very good looking truck! Awesome video, as I really enjoyed your thoroughness and attention to detail! I also own a 1996 Dodge Ram that looks just like this one except it’s a 1500, 5.2 V8, 2wd extended cab, and I try to keep mine waxed/detailed as well! Great story all in all on your truck and I’m sure you will enjoy having your truck back!
@DoctrParker Yeah my truck was repainted recently, as the clearcoat was distressed and was time for new paint/clear. I also own two other 2nd gen Dodge Rams (both 2001 models) with 318 engines as well and had those two trucks repainted/clearcoated as well! I’m a big fan of the 2nd gen Ram trucks! The body lines/styling is definitely my personal all time favorite!
