Hey Andrew! Great review, with a lot of very valid points! Thanks! When I was a Canon shooter, I really liked the scrollwheel on the back instead of a dial pad. But yeah: when I do video, I use 4k60 a lot, so the Canon has the edge there. Both excellent camera's!
I think Canon have better lineup overall. For me in the entry level the R8 is unbeatable. Or the R10 APSC. In the used market the original eos R is dirt cheap and the only con is the lack of IBIS for the Canon entry level. Nikon advantage could be IBIS (an used Z5 / Z6 is very cheap) but the Nikon IBIS isn't the greatest one. Nikon haven't cameras to compete in entry level. Interesting video. What you like about the rear LCD on the Nikon, I actually despise. I very much prefer the style of the Canon rear screen for one simple reason and that is that I can flip it around and "turn it off" by closing it facing in toward the camera body. I rarely set the rear LCD screen to show anything other than the info screen to begin with, and very much prefer to keep the screen turned in towards the body. If I need to change something that I don't have a dedicated button or dial for, I can just quickly flip it out, change whatever I need to, and flip it back in. I also prefer the Canon because it has that fourth dial. I usually set it so that the front dial is shutter, the top rear dial is ISO, the lens dial is aperture, and the rear back dial is White Balance in Kelvin. This way, I can look through the viewfinder (which shows the picture profile I have set) with exposure simulation turned on and adjust the exposure, DOF, and white balance in real time all without ever needing to change any menu settings. Once you have that set up and experience shooting that way, it's incredibly difficult to go back to any other way of shooting, and while I do still largely shoot raw, it obviates much of the need to shoot raw because outside special circumstances, you can adjust the image you're going to capture in real time before actually taking the picture. Also, most people that would make use of the high speed electronic shutter would likely be sports photogs where they are shooting with a long lens on a monopod or tripod up at at least 1/1000 shutter speed anyway. Huge left to right swerves are not something they're going to do a lot of.
So, as R6 II user who previously had D750, I am waiting to see when Z6 III comes and what is the price, because I got better shadow recovery (colorful noise in R6 II, that is better controlled in D750) and the colors in nature had more volume/tonality. D750 screen was brighter than R6 II, which is strange and dissapointing, autofocus is great in R6 II, I haven't tried Nikon mirrorless. I also prefer tilting screens to flip out, also third party lenses for Nikon.. I only have 24-105 f4 EF lens, so it won't be that costly, even though I will loose some money, so now I am waiting to see what Z6 III will offer and then decide and whatever I choose I will buy some better lenses.
@@ST-fl5fy it will be good enough, algorithms and processors are fine now. Even if it's not the great, it won't be bad, for sure. About my original comment, I would add that the Canon files were not that bad, but they don't work good with Adobe Lightroom and editing was nightmare for me. I sold the R6 II. I'm waiting to see what Z6 III brings and I would also be willing to get Sony A9, because it's great for photos and good priced 2nd hand for what it delivers. For sure my dream camera would be the Z8, because of the MP and stacked sensor. If you have Z8 what more can you possibly need, other than maybe more FPS in raw full quality, because the 120 is only in jpg.
They both seem very bulky compared to other mirrorless cameras. I don't see the advantage of these mirrorless cameras compared to regular DSLR cameras?
I shoot also on z6 and I have done multiple events at night. I focus just fine granted the limitations of the AF. I know when to switch between between autofocus and single point and when to zoom in to capture the eye and zoom out. There is way every time. I can't wait to see what the Z6iii will offer though. That will be my upgrade as long as it not above 3k.
Hi. Good day. May I know which do you recommend between fujifilm xt20 and xt200 for beginner. Torn between those two. For hobby only and want a versatile photography
Another important difference in video is that the Canon r6 II has no more recording limits and Nikon still has the 30 min limit which is really annoying !
This is a toss up for me like them both and the image quality is fantastic on both. Not that I'm a gear snob but having had canon cameras for years I would say how much I love Canon colors but honestly if you don't tag them I would not be able to tell them apart. For me it has come down to a choice between these two cameras, it is hard to justify the extra $500 for the Canon but I love the flip out display mostly because I like to turn it around to protect the screen.. The Canon is more than I want to pay but I can sell off my DSLR gear to offset the price.. Who knows I may end up with the Nikon., I go back and forth on this 😂
Along Fuji I wanted a full frame partly for birding and got Sony a7iv. I would probably have preferred Canon or Nikon as they seem to be better to hold on to and I prefer the colors vs Sony. But Nikon is not as good in AF and also lenses were not available. Sony 200-600 is such a great value performer. Canon had availability issues and that is another thing that Sony does well.
Thing I like about Nikon is they have more “affordable “ tele lenses. Canon really only has the 100-500, then the prices get astronomical! I’ve considered switching to Nikon from canon. I’m not highly invested yet, so I wouldn’t lose much money. I also have a Fuji xt5 and would love to try their 150-600, but worried about how slow it is with its aperture
4:58 but you are wrong - Nikon lenses have customizable rings (dials) as well, plus the ISO is used with a dial as well, by holding down the ISO button. I just can't finish watching this misleading video. You don't know what you are talking about....
Nikon pictures seem way better in color balance and the menu language is more easy to understand. The symbols make more sense and the menu is better organized to make sense as well.

If you have Z8 what more can you possibly need, other than maybe more FPS in raw full quality, because the 120 is only in jpg.
thanks for the comparison
just a small note: nikon does have f/1.2 primes
Erm, you do realise that Nikon have 50mm f/1.2 & 85mm f/1.2 Z primes right?
Thanks. I didn't.
and 35mm f1.2 coming out this year.
DXOMark just reviewed z85mm 1.2 and it is ranked 1st.
The Z 85 1.2 and 50 1.2 do exist. Nikon lenses also have the customizable lens wheel. Good review overall.
Thanks
also on the zomm lenses liek the 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200f 2.8
Good to see you explaining cameras again, I think I missed your videos in my YT flow since you swapped the name of your channel.
Which one is better in low light
They both seem very bulky compared to other mirrorless cameras. I don't see the advantage of these mirrorless cameras compared to regular DSLR cameras?
Do you still have the raw files download available? Would like to compare them both on LR.
Which one is better for astrophotography?
I have the z6 and it is imposible to focus in dark areas or things in movement
I shoot also on z6 and I have done multiple events at night. I focus just fine granted the limitations of the AF. I know when to switch between between autofocus and single point and when to zoom in to capture the eye and zoom out. There is way every time. I can't wait to see what the Z6iii will offer though. That will be my upgrade as long as it not above 3k.
I’ve had the same experience. Also birds sitting in bushes where there sticks and foliage nearby. This is the only camera I’ve had that issue with.
What about canon eosr8??
I love my R8 it's a beautiful beast 💯
Hi. Good day. May I know which do you recommend between fujifilm xt20 and xt200 for beginner. Torn between those two. For hobby only and want a versatile photography
Canon has unlimited recording time, right?
Yessir
Are there more lenses for Canon than Nikon?
Great video. Thanks sir!
Do canon lenses have an aperture ring or a ring that can be assigned as aperture?
V good video, plz advice me best photo camera for wedding videography under 1500$ ,plz reply.
?
Would love same review with the Nikon z6iii
Nice comparison 👏
you messed up the namings in some pictures
Another important difference in video is that the Canon r6 II has no more recording limits and Nikon still has the 30 min limit which is really annoying !
Nikon lens also have customized ring and 2 buttons.
Who knows I may end up with the Nikon., I go back and forth on this 😂
Nikon dont have a 70-200 f4 Version.
Prime with 1.2 is nice, but most people dont need that, to heavy, to expensive.
where is the raw files link?
Nikon has the Z 180-600 now
Nikon z6ii has so many features & very strong processor. Canon appears overly warm & saturated colours
Nikon has the Z 58mm f0.95 Noct ultrafast portrait lens and a Z 50mm f1.2 as well
R6ii thks
both has great ecosystem. way back into film cam eco. nikon much simpler mount selection. canon has more mounts
Canon is made in Japan…
Yup
Apple iPhone is made in Vietnam.😆
@@mlai2546 no..made in china by Foxxcon
Do you think this Canon statement is about quality? Premium products like the Apple MacBook Pro are manufactured in China.
@@jorgepinogarciadelasbayonas imagine apple is made in japan…
Perfect.
Canon AF is far superior than Nikon Z6 II. Even slightly better than Z6 III, but not by that much.
The Z6II without a doubt, the best Nikon out there in my opinion.
Canon R8 is a beast 💯
Canon.
4:58 but you are wrong - Nikon lenses have customizable rings (dials) as well, plus the ISO is used with a dial as well, by holding down the ISO button. I just can't finish watching this misleading video. You don't know what you are talking about....
Cant ignore that Canon looks cheap and plastic.
Nikon pictures seem way better in color balance and the menu language is more easy to understand. The symbols make more sense and the menu is better organized to make sense as well.
