This bike is now sold. We really appreciate all the interest and inquiries. If you are after a similar machine, I recommend checking out a Facebook page XSR900 LC a Homage to the RD350LC
You can also find more of the great work of Velocity moto at Velocity moto. Com
This bike was sold to a collector and added to his fantastic garage of new and old bikes.

I half-closed my eyes and convinced myself I was 23 years old again, looking at my much-loved black RD350LC 😊. Back to the real world and in answer to your question, yes, I would sell the bike with minimal regrets. With less than 4k miles on the clock in 5 years, it has essentially become a 'garage ornament'. Beautiful?.....yes of course, but I think it's time to pass it on to another owner. I reached my own 60th milestone 6 years ago and trust me, that time has gone in like a flash, with limbs not working just as good as they did. So, take funds from the sale and use the cash for you and Carole to see a bit more of the world. Hope this is helpful and both of you take care and ride safe.

Belive me, Rich, time passes quicker and quicker the older you get. Parachutists have an expression called 'Groundrush'. When you exit an aircraft at high altitude, the World is spread out before you and stays like that for some time, until you get to less than 100m and suddenly, the earth comes rushing up to meet you and you think your end has come. Good metaphor for life and motorcycling. Enjoy the ride.@@Banditmanuk

makes sense to sell it as you have plans to travel more . its in lovely condition and good luck with finding the right buyer . there are a lot of tyre kickers out there . also dealers need to make a grand on it due to overheads. best wishes to you both . wife Linda has today sold her beloved Vespa as she has arthritis in hands and feet , we have had such good times riding together locally and feel quite sad . i am 75 this month but Suttons sold a new bike to a gent 88 so well done to him .

Well worth whatever you ask it is a very low miler after all and well presented. All the best from me in Oz. @@RichardASK As a man who rode a small Honda back in the sixties, I am amazed at how our bikes have changed. Tyres are multi compound and as safe as it gets. Engines and brakes, electronics and everything else are second to none. The only thing that is negative is the cost of running. But we chose a semi thirsty bike cause we like the power more than economy. so yes besotted is the right word for an MT10 owner. I fell in love at the first turn on the test ride. Richard. It is a lovely bike, but hearing your reasoning I personally feel you are more on the selling side than keeping it.
You have your lovely MT10, and as you say, the XSR is similar to the MT10. I ride the Tracer 9 GT Plus, I absolutely love it. If I was to purchase another bike, it would be very different from my Tracer, which I love to tour and ride whenever. From what I hear, my opinion is sell it, get the dosh, use it wisely and enjoy touring with Carol. BTW I’m a young 63, and I absolutely love getting out on my Tracer. Hopefully I’ll have many more years enjoying the freedom of biking, as I’m sure you and Carol will have. Love your videos. Keep em coming 😊

    • @Banditmanuk
      @Banditmanuk  6 месяцев назад +1

I am more on the selling side, but not to the point of giving it away. It's nice having something special to go to bike nights and local runs on, but the big tours are what we really enjoy.
It just feels too extravagant to tax, insure, and service a bike to only use about 800 miles a year.
When my MT10 eventually lets me down or breaks, I would definitely consider the Tracer 9. Sporty, comfortable, Yamaha reliability. It's a great choice in my humble opinion.

I’m sure you’ll get what you want price wise for the bike 🤘
Yeah yeah some of us still need to ride during the winter otherwise we wouldn’t be able to ride our bikes for about 6 months 😂
I have always thought that with the amount of traveling you and Carol do that surely you should both look into ADV bikes, however I would tour everywhere on my ZZR so personally I just think you ride whatever bike you’re most comfortable on 💪
It’ll be sad to see the bike go but ultimately I think it’s the best decision mate, have a nice holiday on the bike ☺️

You hit the nail on the head by saying and comparing the similarities between the bikes you own. I have 2 bikes and neither of them can be compared to each other, hence when I ride them on different occasions I can appreciate the difference in them both…. now if you did actually own a 80’s RD then I don’t think you’d even entertain the idea of selling.

Yep you've sussed it completely. I originally was looking for a sorted RD350LC. Looked at 3 but none were perfect. Then I saw the Velocity Moto and thought wow, I've got two years manufacturers warranty.
In actual fact, had I bought the RD then I probably wouldn't be selling now. Happy for it to do a few hundred miles a year and probably still appreciating in value. It would also be closer to the riding experience I so vividly remember back in the 80s.
I still enjoyed owning it. Hope you're keeping well. Cheers

Keep it!!!!! I've got the black and gold (gold wheels) 2020 XSR 900 ....... I love it! Strangely enough, I traded in an MT10 for the XSR and, although I enjoyed the MT10, I much prefer the XSR ....... I'm just coming up to 18000 miles on mine. I love that triple grunt and it feels more flickable than the MT10 although it doesn't handle quite as well ..... still great fun though. At 68, my XSR will probably see me out. Anyway, your LC does look gorgeous. The other issue I found with the MT10 was the fuel consumption ...... it drank more than my ZZR1400! On the other hand, my XSR regularly returns 65mpg and more on a leisurely cruise. Decisions, decisions 😊

Then again when it leaves with the new owner it's a sad relief that others will be getting the same joy.
This is the first year I can't be bothered riding in the winter.

I saw a 2023 XSR yesterday in a Yam shop. It had a cafe racer cowl on the front and looked amazing from, almost, stock. The bike has progressed a few notches since 2019. It's much better now - I've ridden both yours, standard and the newer one. Still, there's no logic in biking.........

The new XSR900 is lovely. The engine now is more refined.
The whole reason I bought this bike was sort of an emotional one. I had an RD250LC back in 81. Loved it, but my parents hated it. Loads of parental pressure to sell and buy a car (which I eventually did) The lad who bought my beloved RD wrapped it around a lamppost in the first week 😭
Always swore I would buy another, then I found Velocity moto. Rest is history. Absolutely no logic in biking.....

Makes sense to get shot if you are not using it enough, same with my V7, I love it but don't ride it, so no point keeping it. If it allows you to then trade out the MT-10 for a touring bike as well, then extra bonus, the fuel tank on the MT-10 isn't ideal as a mile muncher I imagine.
A few years back I nearly hung up my bike kit for good, that was when I customised my V7 as it rejuvenated my love of biking again, although I wasn't able to ride it in bad weather... which was what got me into the multiple bike ownership thing. I'd love to have a one bike does it all, but sadly there is no real Goldilocks motorcycle.

Considering what you paid for it and it's low milage I'd have thought it was worth a bit more than you are hoping for. I'm just trying to be realistic with the price. Modified bikes scare some buyers, but mechanically, it's just a super reliable XSR900 underneath. No cables cut.
At under 4,000 miles it's still effectively like new. Kept mostly in an inflatable bubble in my garage. I shall just keep it if it doesn't realise a decent price.

Hi Richard, Interesting video. Yes its a nice bike but if its not being used then for me it would be hard to justify keeping it unless it was increasing in value which it isn't.
I used to have 3 bikes then trimmed it down to 2 and now just have the 1 which is my GTR.
I have to admit as I get older now 66 and yes I know I look years younger, I like life less complicated. It now means no other bikes to move in the garage to get one out, don't have to think about 2 services at the same time as not cheap.
I still look at other bikes and think shall I have another but then think no, I have a bike that does everything I need it to so will stick with that until I need to change for any reason.

The proceeds from everything he owns is going to charity, those bikess are just ornaments collecting dust.

It was bought with the intention of putting miles on it which I didn't do.

@@BanditmanukTo be fair you probably wouldn't fit the RD350 the same now as you did 40 years ago... 🏃‍♂🏃‍♂🏃‍♂🤣 The shocking thing is 8K or less is not going to fund many trips abroad....especially if you're using the ferry to Spain 🤐 😈

I do say in the vid but £8000 to £7500. Depends how much interest I get.

Yes, it doesn't seem rational to keep touring on the MT10. Ridiculously thirsty, but I can not help loving riding it. It fits me, it's comfortable and it's been reliable for 8 years.

Sell it, upgrade your MT10 and have a few quid spare for your travels.

Yep sounds like a plan. Just not quite ready to part with my 8 year old MT10, not until it's at least caused me some break down / reliability issues.
