Thank you Jim! Many blessings to you and yours as well!
I was wondering where you have been. Sorry for your loss.
Thanks Richard. It's been a tough year and holidays. I appreciate your thoughts. take care
You sound like such a great dude . I hope god blessed you big time
Thank you
Thanks for all of the great advice. Super helpful! Good luck to you...still interested in getting in...
Thanks! I really don't want to get out, but things have changed for me. I'll still be going until I sell the truck.
@@rvhotshot6010 how many miles on your ram????
Hope you do well. I was also with Dynamic Transport. Just started in June. All was good at the start. Then business slowed down. I was Struggling to make enough for my family. Business seemed like it was going pick up in December. Then my truck blew the motor. Had to hitch ride a Enterprise Truck Rental. (Golf Port Missippi truck rental has some awesome customer service and great deals) got a lease for dodge with a Cummins for cheap. I was able to deliver my rv trailer with this truck on time. Later I was able to my truck on a car trailer and get it up to Kentucky. Leasing a new truck started sounding like a decent deal compared to running my older 2006 dually. I ran another load for Dynamic Transport with the leased truck... Then 2 days after Christmas Dynamic Transport shuts their doors. Now I have a blown up truck, No job and 4 kids to feed. Wow. I feel that the owner of Dynamic never cared or thought about his employees or their families. It's going to take 2 weeks to signed on with Horizon Transport. Then how long would it take to get my 1st load after orientation? I had to return the lease truck Enterprise because I couldn't afford it with no guarantee when I would be able to get my 1st load with horizon. This has been a horrible situation for me trying to support my family. I'm now forced out off the hotshot RV transport business. I really enjoyed doing this job and the people I've meet. It was a amazing experience. I will be returning to my previous career.
So sorry Ciial. I went through the orientation with Horizon the second week of this new year, and they had a load for everyone that went through. But, I haven't had a load since. All the RV manufacturers shut down the month of January, so there has been nothing. Horizon does have an opportunity to pick up "Reloads", but they have been very limited too. I wish you well my friend!
@@trailhunterusa Thank you for the up date. I'm glad that I didn't borrow money to keep leasing a truck. I went back to my old company for 12 years prior, wrenching for TA truck service. I've heard Horizon is also paying significantly less on loads compared to Dynamic, not sure if it's true? After I get caught back up in a couple months I think I'll try the RV transportation as a secondary job again
Where is Golf Port Mississippi??? Can't find that anywhere on a map.
@@davidbryant3532 Its not Golf Port. Its Gulf Port. Next to Biloxi.Miss.
@@haroldbowers4900 I am aware. I was being a smart ass responding to the idiot that called it golf Port....comprehension is key here.
I did contact you via email about your truck and I’m looking for something like this and love how you set it up from what I’m seeing
IF you are Oscar, I just sent a reply
It's a good kig if you can get back hauls
Very sorry for your losses.
Thank you
Ravi manufactures are doing the same thing that auto manufacturers have done. They are slowly pricing the middle class out of buying RV’s.
Thanks for letting us know and good luck!
Thank you too!
Good luck sir.
Thank you
Good luck.
Thank you!
Good Luck to you. Other channel looks good. List the rig on Transporter forums, you will sell it fast. Condolences for your losses with family. All the best to you and yours. Take care Sir.
Thank you MJ. IT's been a tough year and holiday season. I appreciate your thoughts. I will look into the Transporter forums. I don't really want to get rid of it. I love the business so much. You take care as well.
@@rvhotshot6010 You could always pick up a two or three car trailer (i.e. Kaufman's) to stay in the game. RV Transport may dry up, but there will always be vehicles to transport. You can get loads both ways, check it out if that may peak your interest. Cheers.
@@mjmohn yeah, I thought about that, but then I would have to get my own DOT number and deal with all that. Do you know anything about that?
Thanks for the update was wondering about you. I'm kinda in the same boat Eric, I'm retired and only want to work part-time. I'm wondering if it's even feasible to operate under my own authority without hustling more than I want to considering the overhead costs of insurance, trailer investment etc. regardless of doing cars with a wedge trailer or regular flatbed hotshot. On the other hand, having recently received my CDL-A at the local community college I'm thinking more in terms of just biting the bullet for awhile as a full-time company semi driver somewhere until I figure this out for myself. CDL is burning a hole in my pocket and I have a F350 DRW...in any case, all my best and if you decide to stay in it after-all or not after looking into your own DOT number and authority I'd be interested in your thoughts. I got the CDL for RV transport, but now I'm thinking more outside that box.
@@kr5841 I did some research on this prior to RV hauling. The cost of the DOT number would have made me go full time. You might try to find a freight company or car hauler that you can lease under. I'm not sure how they are with someone wanting to do this part time. I will continue to haul RV's until I sell my truck, if it sells. I will definitely get back into it when I fully retire. Good luck to you my friend
Hope you got your equipment paid off
So Dynamic got gobbled up by Horizon huh...that's interesting.
In your position I wouldn't even bother jumping through the hoops to sign up with them if I wasn't totally serious about it. Selling the truck is a tough call though. Those 16-18 model year Rams are pretty good ones and right now might be a tough time to try to sell it anyway. Depends how badly you need the payment gone I suppose.
Look. Trucking is a hard gig. I am a 36 year veteran and when the dynamics change at any company you better be putting in applications elsewhere. Not only 35 years but 27 years as an Owner Operator. 8 years I spent jumping jobs from reefer to flats and OD to livestock to tankers to shows and padwrap and even dryvans pulling cheap frieght. In today's world I would be a job hopper. Back then I was just gaining experience. I know the difference between a smooth bore tank and baffled tank. I know a little of swinging meat compared to frozen meat compare to potential meat. Wanting to gain experience is not job hopping with companies that want idiots in the drivers seat.
If trucking is your main source of income then apparently gaining experience in a corporate and governmental regulated world job hopping is frowned upon.
Kudos to you with another main job not wanting to take out of other driver's mouths. But after about 10 years driving becomes a chore and ain't as fun as a road trip. But I have spent so much time away for certain milestones with family and friends on the road it ain't funny. But in the same flip of the coin I am not home most times. But maybe I'm different. I don't like the obligations just another load that I can turn a profit on.
But RV transport multi haul is where the money is at. If only 1 at a time then the chassis is a waste unless you have a road master sleeper. Remember getting paid even a flat rate the company is making but 25 to 100 percent what they are paying you. That's how business works. And you sign the lease. As for company drivers, sorry but you are getting screwed too. But so so few total independant drivers out there now. That is truly sad. Both from the companies out there and our freakin' government and the ATA.
But sorry for your losses though.
Thanks Dave. I am considering multi haul. Thanks for the knowledge
@@rvhotshot6010 You have a 3500 right? That will limit you on weight. But 3 campers is only what roughly 15 to 20 thousand pounds but don't forget the weight of the trailer. You will be just under over the max limits. A 4500 or 5500 would fit your needs. A 5500 with a Roadmaster with a trailer pulling a Hotshot load back close would be really good. I did in a big truck still di it from time to time but I have tarps, chains, four inch straps with two sets of ramps on a step deck. Good money when you can get a load back toward Indiana. Not so good sleeping in the back seat even if you coverted into a " sleeper". Then you have to have a class A CDL and even with hydraulic brakes you still have to have a Class A with restrictions.
It's something to think about. But you can't pull the signs off and come back empty with a trailer and a 3500 with a flatbed and bumper weight you may not be able to do with a class 3 truck.
@@daveweed2765 3500 is correct. Looking into all my options. Appreciate the advise.
Do you still have the truck. An where’s it at. I’m in mass. I have a 42ft fifth wheel camper trailer. Looking to use it to tow trailer over the road. I’m am retired over the road truck driver.
Hit up Tim Gentry, he is on RUclips...he may be interested in this truck or even hiring you out....
What was your advice for us young people save your money and get a what set up? I apologize I can’t hear what you said then. Could you explain
Hey Kevin. The industry will be back. The industry is in a slow down right now, but I believe it will pick back up. If you are wanting to get into this business, yes, I would start saving for a down payment on a good hauling truck and all the accessories you will need. When the industry picks back up you will be ready. It could as early as this spring. And, I am still in the business for now. There is no loads right now though. The manufacturers shut down all of January.
Do you still have the truck for sale. How many miles are on the truck. An where is it
Hey Wayne. Yes I still have it. I'm in Western KY. Send me an email at eric@roadwarriorstrucking.com. Thanks.
Do you have to have cdl's to get into the business???????
No, you don't have to have a cdl.
NEVER has HOT SHOT work ever been worth a chit. Never get into trucking period.
Do you still have the truck?
Sorry, I missed this. Yes I do still have the truck. email me at eric@roadwarriorstrucking.com. I will send you the info. Thanks
Can’t you use your truck do hotshot ? Some RUclips channels boast 7k earnings per week or more .. seems truck might not sell ant time soon
Hey Carrie, I could and I don't doubt they are making good money, but they are on the road constantly. I'm not wanting to be on the road that much. If you get leased on with a company, they are going to want you to run all the time. full time. If you want to go on your own, then there is a high cost for insurance and all the DOT crap you have to deal with. And your right the truck probably want sell anytime soon. But that is okay.
Would you sell your truck
The truck is for sale. If you are interested, email me at eric@roadwarriorstrucking.com and I will send you details. Thanks
How much does RV transport pay?
Hey James, it varies depending on the size of the RV and if you have a CDL or not. It can be anywhere from $1.60 to $2.30 a mile. Each company is different will have slightly different rates, but generally it is in this range. Real slow right now though, there isn't much chance to get into RV transport at this time.
@@rvhotshot6010 thanks for replying. I sold my truck a little over a year ago. I had a Freightliner Cascadia and dry van trailer. I had a dedicated route for about 5 years. I could see how transporting RVs would be a good way to go.
Is the truck in the background for sale?
yes, it is for sale
