this is just what i need. I'll udate in 30 days... well 31. Today doesnt count... Ive gotta review my rudaments for 5rh stroke and 8th note tripplets?! Im a beginner with 0 "academics"... dont know how to read any sheet music or know any of the correct timing terminology besides the VERY basics.
My hands and fingers were mangled years ago but playing drums and watching dudes like this is really helping. It's awesome regaining coordination in my hands again and I just want to thank you
So glad this came up. Just got back to playing after 7 year hiatus. Been playing drums most of my life but never believed I could call myself a drummer. Appreciate this a ton. I will use this going forward. Well done !!!
Can’t wait to get going on this lesson. My left hand sucks and so many different tutorials on RUclips to choose but you are by far the best when it comes to breaking the lesson down and making it “Beginner friendly “. It will take me longer than the 30 days since I drive a truck during the week but my practice pad is always with me lol. Thanks for the lesson.
Glad I found your channel.. I haven't played in 20 years. I'm just starting to get back into playing again. But, almost every channel I went to, they did more talking about everything else and no teaching.. Please dont change.. Love the videos and thanks for the help..
I've been doing a majority of these exercises without knowing what I was doing. I've been trying to play everlong and I needed to get my left hand to feel natural like my right. Thank you for putting some structure to my routine.
I’ve been playing open handed for years but am learning that my right hand is more reliable with faster tempos/more complex patterns than my left and I thought I’d have to pay for lessons to fix this. I can’t believe this is free?? This is super helpful! Thank you!
I had a heart attack, heart surgery, stroke, and got diagnosed with type II diabetes with nerve damage in my feet. I also have sciatica, and degenerative disk disease. I've played professionally much of my life, but lost a lot of my technique from being so ill. I've always had a weak left hand, and never quite got that push pull technique down. So, now that I'm sixty, I want to get my chops back. This looks like a great way to see where I'm at, and to get it all back and then some. I'd also like to add double bass since I'm basically starting all over. I've got to get my appendages caught up with my brain. Thanks so much for helping me. Respect!!!
Crazy how today I picked up my sticks to practice and literally was working on my weak hand, and this video popped up on RUclips 3 hours later which I believe it has everything to make it better. Thanks man!
Well I've started this. I can already see where I've been doing things wrong and yes seeing improvement. I intend to keep at this for the month and if things continue I am pretty sure this is going to make a big difference. fyi I'm 68, bought a big ass kit a year ago and swapping things in and out and have settled down now. Watched a lot of RUclipss, gotten some good tips, but this is the first time sticking to a formal lesson and as I said seeing improvement already. Good improvement. Great job Gabe.
The hands! Shades of Tommy Igoe here, incredible hands. Thank you for this, I know I’m not alone in saying that I need to work on my hands and I really need a disciplined workout plan. If left to my own devices I’ll do more of what’s fun than what’s productive, so I TRULY appreciate the bootcamp breakdown! Love you, man.
I'm just starting out in the world of drumming, and I'm quite bad, but I'm gonna try my best to stay committed with the challenge to up my drumming ability!
Another amazing lesson, thank you!!! I've started practicing with the Stick Control book few weeks ago and it really helped me a lot, but this video Is gonna push me into the next level!
Thanks for the lesson... now one to improve the slow foot ;)... I guess you could also say that your double bass speed will be as fast as your slower foot so I've started to practice the same exercises for the double pedal but now using the left foot as lead and it has improved overall, so it works!
Super cool exercises and very varied workout scheme that keeps you motivated. Tabata schemes are awesome (for gym workouts too) and the weak hand lead seems to improve responsiveness of my left hand (for lack of a better word). However, as a beginner looking to strengthen my weak hand I found some of the exercises a bit too difficult to make sense even at a very low tempo. For example the week 3 day 2 Six Stroke Roll subdivision exercise: I could easily spend much more than 10 minutes with my strong hand getting this to work at slow paces. Really good resource but something to be aware of for complete beginners :)
New drummer here - Going to commit and do the 30-day challenge. Will post my results once i'm done. Thanks a bunch for developing this and sharing it :D
Hahah that's exactly how my left hand feels when drumming. Btw, I can play quite fast with my left hand, but I KNOW i don't have the same control even at comfortable speeds and my hand and finger position is not the same as with my right. Should I do this excercices, specially push pull, slower so to correct this? I think so
You should always work drum exercises slow at first, with a metronome so you can focus on accuracy. Speed comes with time, but speed without accuracy is sloppy. Do his exercises slow and deliberate first, this ensures proper muscle memory, push the speed, but only as much as you can playing cleanly. I use a metronome app that has all the subdivisions (including quintuplets) which helps alot with accuracy. Best of luck, and keep drumming.🥁
iam a drummer in our church here in the Philippines for a month now,but the drum i used is a kids drum, its so different from the standard one. I'm just a beginner thanks for the tips hope you can give me a drum that u doesn't use.
Very very nice That you‘re uploading so much in the Last weeks :) I‘m actually doing the Other handspeed challenge from your channel until the end of march xD
I envy being able to do any sort of finger control on my weak hand. My fingers like to lock up. I know it’s a matter of building dexterity in the hand, by my tendons go behind my knuckles and it locks my fingers. Eventually.
Who's in for joining this 30 day challenge?? Let me know!

Getting all this for free is actually unbelievable
Happy to help!
Yep, I used to pay a ton of money per lesson and now years later I give it for free as well.
My hands and fingers were mangled years ago but playing drums and watching dudes like this is really helping. It's awesome regaining coordination in my hands again and I just want to thank you

Speed opens up a lot more doors to different rhythms, and it's just impressive altogether! Great work man!
I totally agree! So glad you liked it!
@@DrumBeatsOnline Hey man, always a pleasure!
Gabe, you’re amazing, glad to see I use some of these in my practice. Just gotta not bail thru the workout 💪

Sounds great, of course please keep all these exercises tension free meaning if it hurts stop and slow down until you feel comfortable.
I'm just starting out in the world of drumming, and I'm quite bad, but I'm gonna try my best to stay committed with the challenge to up my drumming ability!
Awesome. Good luck.
Thank you for sharing with us all of this. God bless.
Leading with my left hand on a right handed kit is a great idea, it does work, tried that for 3 years. And it is useful! :]
Great tip!
I am getting back into drumming after 17 years and I have double hand weakness. So I am gonna do this for both hands.
Woke up on my birthday to a new video from gabe! I stay blessed ‼️
Heyooo! Happy birthday! 🎊

I've played for 21 years and have found myself set in some very old habits. Gonna give this a college try and see if I can change some stuff up.
Wow❗, thanks! I really need this❗💯 my left hand is extremely weak, slow and struggle badly to just to do any kinda simple drum rudiments

@@IceBiiRd It helped my left hand a lot. A few of the exercises were a little rough but over all it did add quite a bit of speed to my left hand.

All sounds good, but what about those of us that use traditional grip (and don't want to change to matched grip)?
Thanks Gabe❤️👌👌!
You're very welcome!
