    Great video man, the only thing I've encountered cleaning rack style cabs is if you don't take the tops off where you can adjust your e-clips on your needles you will blow all the dirt from the inside the bottom of the carb up Inside the top

    Bought a 1999 polaris xlt 600 indy special snowmobile, and it came with the flat slide carbs off of a 2000 polaris indy triumph. Major damage to them from previous owners, Switching back to the stock carbs, but I might try to save them, not really sure if it's worth the time

    I'm so nervous this isn't gonna work... or fix my mid to high range power. Gonna eat pizza and start it up. Oh and really pay attention to wear your fuel lines are before removing it. Also be very careful when you are putting it back in not to pull on fuel or oil lines.. I unseated an oil at the middle of the engine under it all almost halfway and it took me at least an hour to get it back on without taking it all off again. Used needle nose with a off set and a mirror. Grabbed it around the clamp so I hopefully wouldn't damage the hose and got it seated again.. definitely thought the carbs would have been more dirty tho.

    You can't clog a jet by debris going through the air venturi. The only way a jet gets clogged is by dirty fuel or old fuel plugging and gumming.

  • @justine4508
    @justine4508 5 лет назад +2

    The cleaning tool you're thinking of is a cutting torch tip cleaner

    • @HaNg_ALL_ThE_tRaItOrS_hiGh
      @HaNg_ALL_ThE_tRaItOrS_hiGh 5 лет назад

      Never ever use one on mains, pilots or any part of a carb. You will remove material and they will need to be replaced.

    • @justine4508
      @justine4508 5 лет назад

      @@HaNg_ALL_ThE_tRaItOrS_hiGh it's not a file it only has smooth ribs, they don't remove material because that would also mess with the torch tip size and cause them to need to be replaced as well, the torch tip are also soft metal

      @justine4508 5 лет назад

      @@HaNg_ALL_ThE_tRaItOrS_hiGh I hear you, I don't use them anymore because they can break off inside the jet but I've cleaned out Jets with no problems as long as they didn't break.

    I have an 2002 polaris 500. The sled runs great, good throtel respince, ans no idling issues when the choke is half on. As soon as I turn the choke off (and yes it's warmed up) the rpms rev to about 2100 rpm and then the sled will slow bog until it stalls. If I touch the throtel even when it's reved up the sled will stall instantly. Is this a carb adjustment issue??

    • @Bigkidpowersports
      @Bigkidpowersports  6 лет назад

      Michael Troiano. I would bet on a carb issue. How long will it high idle before it dies once the choke is off?

    • @michaeltroiano6531
      @michaeltroiano6531 6 лет назад

      Big Kid Powersports
      The idle stays high for approximately 30 seconds. Then the rpms slowly decrease until it stalls. Once the rpms start to decrease it takes a minute or two for it to stall out.

    • @Bigkidpowersports
      @Bigkidpowersports  6 лет назад

      Michael Troiano it sounds like it may have an air leak if it revs like that. Having the choke on feeds it more fuel. Can you save it from dieing if you flick the choke back on?

    • @michaeltroiano6531
      @michaeltroiano6531 6 лет назад

      Big Kid Powersports
      Yes I just tried it out as soon as I flip the choke back on it saves it from stalling out.

    • @Bigkidpowersports

    • @aldencoop
      @aldencoop 5 лет назад +1

      Sounds like a stuck float, or fuel is leaking past the float needle. There's a small black o-ring around the white plastic tube that carries the float needle. Sometimes these get brittle, crack and leak fuel past... Sending fuel into the crankcase.

    What are the brass adjusters on the intake side of both carbs, pto side, they look like a petcock and have a fairly large exterior spring to keep them from viberating out? Are these the idle adjusters?

      Tip cleaners have about half an inch of non filing surface at the tips. Used properly they won't ruin your jets.

      It's either the air jet (polaris part 3131203) Or if it's the one that's adjustable, it the air adjuster (polaris part 3130987)

      No. Won't help at all. You'd be better running seafoam in the gas, which can help in some instances. But honestly, clean the carbs. If you have debris that is plugged in one of those jets, you could blow the entire sled up.

    What!?!..... those aren't to adjust idle... they are fuel screws... it's to tune the A/F ration on idle.

  • @hunterwall5246
    @hunterwall5246 5 лет назад

    This guy said get a small file or a piece of wire to clean out out the jet you never want to do that cause you can scratch the inside of your jet and even that can make your sled over fuel
