    Hi Sam great vid. I saw you on shifting metal’s podcast. I’m going to enjoy following your journey, I wish you all the success. I think a video explaining how you got your trade plates, set up your business, how you got insurance etc etc all the processes of how you set up your car business would make a great video. Prep your cars immediately , body work, valet, mechanicals. customers don't see cars like traders do, they can't see through the muck or scratches or the rattling drop links, if you clean it properly at the beginning then it will generally only need a quick wipe down before a customer viewing, get the work done so it's ready to drive away there and then if need be. It'll change if you get bigger premises with 20+ cars but not when you have 2 or 3.
    Regarding that EGR valve, when you have them cleaned out, probably chemically, it will last between 8 and 12 months depending on usage, it is what it is.
    Stay away from Range Rovers or get use to the big repair costs.
    Good luck

    P049b insufficient flow low pressure egr - that will most likely be a cracked dpf internally. Low back pressure in dpf means low flow back through the low pressure egr.
    Check for soot in the tail pipe of the exhaust. If it’s sooty, that confirms it. The light will unfortunately return if there is soot in the exhaust. I know of 2 that I serviced recently that have this issue.
    Hope this helps, hopefully I’m wrong and it’s a cheap fix for you.
    Avoid JLR group cars. They will cause you headaches and stress. They are expensive to fix, and if your margins aren’t huge then you may end up spending out on them up to 6 months after the sale. The issue is you have a video proving there was a fault before the sale so be careful with that in the videos, even though you are clearly trying to rectify the faults before the sale. 👍🏼
    The mechanics you are using may not have come across this fault before hence ‘trying things’ to clean the egr. It will most likely be the dpf causing the fault.
    People who know their stuff especially with things like JLR cars, cost much more than regular mechanics. Their experience and knowledge is greater than most, and their diagnostic equipment is very expensive, hence their cost is high.
    Welcome to the motor trade. Everyone thinks it’s easy but it really is not. But I wish you luck in your journey. 👍🏼

    • @WattsOnCourt
      @WattsOnCourt  2 месяца назад

      Thank you so much for spending the time for this info. I’ve actually booked the car into Landrover to get everything it needs rectifying. I can’t pass this on to another trader knowing the issue, I’ll just take this one on the chin and learn. At least I’ll pass this car on to a customer knowing they have a good car rather than worry about another DPF/EGR issue again. Top Man

      @@WattsOnCourtgood luck with it! I hope I’m wrong and it’s a cheap fix for you I really do!
      Everything euro 6 is becoming a nightmare. I spent this afternoon fitting a PATS fluid tank to a Peugeot van, something I have done several times before, but on older vehicles.
      This one turns out my up to date diagnostics cannot program it. Even though it goes through the motions, it will not program it. Total waste of time and money. All because the dealers are trying to make independents pay for diagnostic ‘help’
      Anyway, I wish you luck, and would be interested to hear how you get on with it. Every day is a school day as they say!
      👍🏼

    • @WattsOnCourt
      @WattsOnCourt  2 месяца назад

      Thats exactly whats happened to me with the disco this week. It needs a new EGR and poss DPF and the new EGR they put in requires a software update for the car. Only Landrover can do this. Its going to them on Wednesday!

      @ttatimbo5830 2 месяца назад +1

      @@WattsOnCourtah that’s not good to hear.
      I suppose you could do what a dealer near me does - they correct all the expensive common faults and use them as a selling point. Their prices are higher but the vehicles and the warranties they offer reflect this in the price.
      Good luck, sorry it’s not better news for you. But you know now to check the exhaust for soot - it’s a good indicator of dpf condition on all ingenium JLR vehicles. The management light doesn’t need to be on as you have found out, but unless they have wiped the tail pipes you should be able to avoid this issue in future before you buy hopefully 👍🏼

    If I go to view a car from a trader, I want to see that car in it`s fully prepped sale condition. This is the car you are buying, this is its sale condition, this is how much you want for it. If it`s not fully prepped then as a customer I`m having to judge what it will look and drive like after prep.
    It`s a bad trend in the motor industry to buy at auction, give the car a quick wash and valet, then list a car at top market value. As a customer I then have to walk round and round the car pointing out every scratch, ding, discoloured piece of trim and mark on the upholstery and haggle over whether they will polish out or be fixed prior to me picking up the car.
    If you want £10K for a car then don`t show me a £9K car that could with prep be a £10K car.

      @@Broomehall I've taken a screenshot of that reply. Thanks a lot. Well I do have some connections in the motoring industry in the home counties which I can leverage i.e low commissions on auctions but I prefer initially dealing and bargaining with privates and just attending auctions to learn before I start buying from them. I have access to a recovery truck under 3.5 tonnes. In the future I plan to have a mechanic and an in house dent shop but that's still 6 months to 1 year away maybe longer I'm not sure. Also are you offering finance packages with your cars?
    I've been selling 4 or 5 cheaper end cars but not without its headaches, mainly a lot of prep involved, so I'm thinking of moving up to 2 x 5-10k cars.
