You guys are just nailing this, the first car is always the gold standard...I love how you talk about the "warts and all!" Good wishes and best of luck to Sam.
Trade plates have strict rules , you can't do a lot of things that people get away with including driving family out for the day . You also can't park on the street with them which people do
The point dave made about the golf GTI and how he was pestered for the car quickly, I used to work part time for a well known personal finance company dealing with customers in their own homes. When I had new customer leads normally as a referral from head office or a friend of a friend the ones who were on the phone constantly pushing for me to call to them that day etc were always the ones that went boing on me and cost me my bonus due to non payment and having to be dealt with courts
Sam, how have you found a unit with 20 allocated car spaces, where the landlord is happy for car trade and it has the correct planning use class for a car dealer for £500/month? That's impossible where I am! Your landlord is missing a trick! Get it signed up! Good luck
It's a converted barn with 4 separate offices inside with 2 lovely gravelled car parks big enough to hold all my cars. I was totally upfront with the landlord who seemed fine with the idea. I promised no bangers, just lovely family cars. It's such a sleepy area down here!
As always - compelling to watch. Great advice and anecdotal experiences shared! David:- you make me laugh! -- you are always the one who will appear on these Podcasts from 'strange' locations! - You maverick - which car were you in this time? Joe is always in his media office and James attends from his showroom for these scheduled podcasts
That was excellent, I watch the’ cars uk channel’ and could never make sense of half doing the cars and thought he was being the proverbial used car trader which I still think he is but not quite as much lol, but I like watching him anyway. There’s a compliment in there Lee should you follow these guys n happen to read this. Anyway big fat like and regular viewer for yees. Again that was really enjoyable .
Referring to the comments in 5 minutes to 7 minutes I’m not for a minute saying you are addicts However addiction comes in many forms not just alcohol and drugs the obvious ones. selling for me changes the way I feel and buying too. Amazing podcast with different people Thanks 😀
Be very suspicious of the last cheap cars at auction, they're usually independent small dealers that have put rubbish in, check the vendor, if it's locol dealer or an unknown source don't buy it, usually the last dozen cars, as dave said that's why it was cheap.
I got offered eBay motors package for 5 cars on a 2 or 3 month trial for £250 per month I think it was. I don’t have enough cars to fill the slots so didn’t go for it.
You can't just change your mind after 3 mths, it's first 14 days on distance selling, if there was a problem he should have contacted you in the first place, he says it's running fine, so that's it tbh, I'd just stonewall him tbh, problem is you'll probably get a grand less now for it, never seems to work out 2nd time around, your entitled to deduct mileage after the first 30 days as well, unfortunately with car sales you've got to be tough sometimes, it's great to be all no problem and roll over but not good for your pocket, if he's said it's fine then it's fine? Welcome to car sales(!)
@@PrideandPerformance I didn't know about that bud, we do a lot of distance stuff, customer pays when we get there and they're happy, not had really any problems up to now, most people are happy you've brought it over.
@@roystonvehicles9129 yeah I only know that because before covid when everyone started doing distance sales I know people who found out the hard way. the 14 day contracts are the only good thing to happen to car dealers in recent times 😂 It's easy to get the contracts though. you can get them from Lawgistics or I use a bit of kit called Dealerkit that also does the contract etc for us
Hi Guys, thanks for being very honest & transparent 👍🏽I’ve watched Joe for a while now & just started watching Sam, due to myself considering what Sam is doing. Question to u all & I might be totally wrong, would u say that cars sell themselves and is all about you, if people trust you, your reviews & what sort of setup you have, is that most of the battle🤔Be interesting to get your thoughts please👍🏽👍🏽
Hi Joe, really enjoying these videos. Have you tried Lee at 'Car UK' to join you on here? He is the same as you folks, trying to make an honest living, and not conning customers along the way, which sadly many think that it is the 'norm' in this business. He has a very good channel too, just don't mention potential customers to him that happen to ride a bike. All the best, Tony.
@@RealTorquePodcast Nice one, cheers. Greg and Sarah at 'Valley Autos (Birmingham)' would be another suggestion, really funny couple and just got their pitch going. 😊
ive worked in hotel for years ,and as soon as they walk through the door ,you know they are going to be pains especially when you say to them have you had a nice day and they say up to now i have
I would buy a car from any of these guys but i still don't trust second hand car dealers generally. But then again i realise customers can be just as bad. Interested discussion about how much to rely on data and gut instinct and experience and how important it is to have good mechanics you can use if you dont have your own workshop.
Joe can we just refer to Dave has 'Lovely Dave' from now on in? Dave and his staff should have name badges with name on... Lovely Dave and Lovely James etc. Also Dave is older than me and I'm well greyer what's that about. Also Joe if you and Dave want advice im happy to come on your podcast and give you guys some advice? LOL 😅😅😅😅😅
I just started out the end of last year and this past month has been the worst yet, two buy backs and haven’t sold a car!! I’ve got a 09 plate Astra with 78k on the clock for £1600 and can’t shift it 🤷🏼♂️ it’s a much tougher game than I thought it would be.
Yeah let’s hope so and all the best to you it sounds like you’ll do really well. Just finishing watching now and I think I’m an over preper, I do it all before I take photos and list the cars which I think holds me back and I probably end up spending more money and time than I need to. I’ve always been passionate about cars and tend to treat them like my own which I know is wrong but it’s hard to change but I’m gonna have to.
From my experience if a car is in Trade any Speeding Offences will be sent to the Last Registered Keeper! When you receive the Penalty Notice you have to complete it, and return to the Speed Enforcement Unit saying you were not driving the car, and no longer own it. I have also contacted the DVLA to get a covering letter stating I No Longer Own The Vehicle! I don't agree with your advice.
start with 10 cheapies and be more of punter rather than, going full blown expensive taste on a few cars for data etc... Dealer Auction gives you data anyway... just sign up :) get some cars and get them out.. dam.. get a pub car park 5 spaces for £50... think about cutting costs before adding costs.
Been watching sam on his channel, quite a character, i disagree with not preping cars and putting them up for sale , its like meeting your mrs for the first time ,without no make up ! You probly not give her a second look
They should ban traders without premises and people doing it from home. A minimum standard should be set by the government so the general public are protected, you need at the very least a workshop and qualified staff not someone that was shipped in without any paperwork, a preparation area as well as a forecourt for their stock and not flooding the road they live on with sales cars. In my area there are too many overnight sales pitches starting up anywhere and everywhere most without planning permission and what used to be a pub and car park is now a car sales pitch, It should all be banned. We need a British Trump.
mostv my cars are 2 k and uder i mmake shure there very well preped and as i would want them but dont give a waranty but say if you have a problem ill help never had a problem im i doing it the write way ?
Watched Sam’s channel and it’s interesting but man has he got a lot to learn. As you two boys say here, just buy cars and get on with it. I’ve been selling cars for 25 years and it’s about making mistakes and not doing the same again…. Good luck to him tho… The whole data thing is a nonsense !
As he's proper nailed it with the channel the car dealing will end up being his second income so he should keep with the AI and data....... who knows he may break the mold and show old dogs new tricks...
He can't just return the car he already got it repaired and didn't contact you regarding anything. Just tell him no law covers change of mind due to confidence as he admitted ! And if they are that far away, As soon as you tell them a real delivery transporter fee like 200miles will be about £360 they won't even bother most of the time.
Love the C1 bought one yesterday, €750. Drove home. Washed it , fittter wheel trims. Proper photos., up Only Facebook. Sold €2k less the 23 hrs later. 😂. €1200 profit

I want to get into the game, but feel nervous as to where to start.
