  • The following is a brief excerpt from Volume 1: Hand-to-Hand of the Paladin Press Combat Systema series. In this clip, Kevin teaches some drills and strategies for attacking the opponent's stance. This helps build confidence in movement and identifying openings, and then gradually progresses to dynamic resistant interceptions of moving strikes and postures. Not at all. It’s rarely just a hand hit. Generally it’s a hand or arm hit on a half beat that destroys the guard to create the open ending for you to hit the face or body. Western boxers like Lomsmchenko do it repeatedly every single match not to mention of host of others throughout history. Search up his hand traps. Look up how Frazier would throw whipping hooks at the arms to plot into the head or Fullmer would hack the arms down or tommy hearns would hack through and hit the head simultaneously while forearm smashing the guard. Not to mention a host off mma fighters. It’s widely used if you’re looking fior it. Irish Barre knuckle fighters learned stance destruction as a fundamental it’s the reason for their famous stance. Leithwei fighters as well. We use it continuously in live sparring and Ii’ve used it numerous times times in the real world. Once you start looking for it you’ll realize it’s been there the whole time.

    Brilliant as usual. Sadly many people underestermate, criticize or call the world of pressure points complete BS, thinking it's bullshido magic etc. When in reality it's just knowledge on weaponizing deeper options against the body's anatomy beyond the surface. It's very real and hidden in plain sight. Of course there are fanatics out there that loose grip on reality on this topic as well, in both for and against it.
    Thankfully you are not one of them ;D. It's nice to watch your videos again, it's been a while.

      I would never rely on finding pressure points, but I do think that it's worth incorporating them, especially if the technique even works without it, but hitting the right spot does extra...

      People are just ignorant. There are so many successful examples. Boxers like Lomanchenko trap catch punches at full speed in all the same way Old timer like Gene Fullmer got away with hacking the guard of his opponents down and essentially hammerfisting the forearms. Earlier than him, irish bare knuckle boxers destroyed the fists and hands of their opponents routinely. Filipino panatukan uses all of this work and then operates with a knife in the same manner. I've used strike infiltration and destructions many times in real world situations. It's just a question of drilling and evolving to sparring, to test everything and find what works for you.

      Cus d amato taught Mike Tyson pressure point fight by the way of using numbers . Also a lot of folks don't use pressure points because folks don't use body weight no more in strikes. That something that jack Dempsey prefected and kinda shunned boxing later on because he realized nobody never uses body weight no more it's all about going points .read championship boxing by jack Dempsey.

    Thanks for sharing. Reminds me of the “de-fang the snake” strategy I learned from FMA.

    I’ve been training for years in martial arts and I enjoy your videos extensively. You have a terrific talent for demonstration and articulating the variety of techniques you show. Much respect Sir! I liked how this particular video incorporated nerve pressure point targeting. Are there others out there showing nerve strikes that I should check out? Many thanks!

    I remember when i started implementing heavy hand (ball and chain) strikes learnt it from watching systema vids, me n my brother would sparr trying to hit basic targets then later on emphasising striking and disabling the arms instead lol systema strikes freakin hurt!!!

    You put out alot of great material, for which I'm greatful. For someone just starting, what courses should be the initial focus? Thanks,

      Brian Cook thanks very much. The paladin press set is a good overview . If you want more in depth then I would say the ICSA Certification series level 1.

      Sir I cannot locate info on ICSA can you expand on the acronym please. I see many similarities between jkd/kali and Paul Vunak , have you ever worked with him?

    Hello sir, I just wanted to say that I enjoy your work and your enthusiasm for martial arts; but I would ask, could you put out a dvd on Hojojutsu?, it seems to be a dying art in some sense, or at least a rather unknown one for the most part. I would really like to partake in preserving elements of that art.
    Thank you.

    Thank you. I know you worked the doors, but that left hook will get most hands broken. I teach throw thumbs up. I love the Slavic hook.

    • @systemacanada
      @systemacanada  2 года назад

      I disagree strongly. Thumb down prioritized knuckle alignment. It’s commonly used in bare knuckle boxing, karate systems, and a defining characteristic of a Slavic hook. If you watch styles like skobar, it a central component. Increasingly you will even see it in mma in overhand strikes.

  • @leonvandersande

    Are there any MMA or (kick)boxing fights you know of where we can see these concepts applied? I'm not sure I've ever seen the style of striking you advocate here applied in those contexts, nor have I seen fighters target the spots you indicate to elicit a reaction.
