I first heard Ghost Riders on my mother's 78 record, yes this was over 5 decades ago. It was sung by Johnny Cash. Then I heard a husky voiced female piano player sing it on Mackinaw Island in the early 1980's. I will never forget her, she saw me walk in and would dedicate the song to me. My dad played banjo like Leroy Troy. Here in Tennessee we call it "Mountain Banjo". This is hilarious! It takes some skill to change the lyrics of a song and have them fit so well. Makes me think of all the other talented country singing parodists whom I appreciate greatly. Leroy Troy is another great one.
This is one awesome parody! Leroy Troy is a genius. Few people realize how hard it is to write a good comedic song. Leroy knocked this one out of the park. I played it Atlanta last spring for a crowd who just fell apart with laughter. They had never heard it before, so I got a chance to do a little promo for Leroy. Marty was one of last country singers i enjoyed. Don't even listen to country anymore. Hank Snow thru the 70's had great songs. Figure most people won't know too many before Hank Snow, which is why i started there. Love Hank Williams & the rest, so you don't need to jump on me for skipping them.

One of the few records he had (an old 78) was the original version of 'Ghost Riders in the Sky, which I soon knew by heart. However, this is a really funny version of it....wonder what the original writer would think? (I am now 81)
