"Have you ever played somebody else's copy of Mario 64 and felt that something was just a little bit off?" Yeah I was always weirded out when my friends *didn't* have bleeding walls and banshee wails in the background.
This made me remember one of my worst dreams ever. I sat in the living room, right in front of our tube TV. After I finished playing a random PS2 game, I put on a music channel. The music was really quiet though, so I turned up the volume by a bit. But the volume kept increasing and the music became unbearably loud. I looked down at the remote, seeing if the vol up button was just stuck or if I could lower it. Nothing worked. I look back up. The volume bar extends beyond the fucking television. I tried turning the TV off using the button on the TV itself, pushing it in multiple times. Again, nothing happened and it just kept getting louder. A few seconds later I woke up and I could still hear reverberation of that insanely loud music.
I've had a dream where I could hear an insanely loud high pitched noise to the point where I had to wake up because it hurt but only in my mind. When I woke up it was still there but for a few seconds that time, however there was no source of the sound. Reminds me of genjustu actually haha.
@Robert Barry I don't remember, that was many years ago and I was still a child. The only thing I vaguely remember is that it was some pop/party song. But I didn't feel like party after it kept getting louder :(
I think the only problem I have with this whole thing is the fact that Wario is the least intimidating character they could have picked. I'm more scared of Wario while I'm playing Smash than while watching these.
Funny story, when I played this as a child with a friend, in wet dry world we ran into one of those water spiders while swimming. For some reason the cartridge either messed up or game froze at a weird time. Mario literally was floating in the water missing all his limbs, just a body and head, with a red tinge the screen. No blood or anything ofc, for some reason my friend and I thought this was funny. We tried to adjust the cartridge and stuff but wasn't able to get it back. Oh, it was also making a locked tone stuck beeping kinda sound. We tried to replicate it but never got it to work. We we're like 7 at the time. I truly believe it's just a coincidence. Pretty cool stuff.
That is freaking terrifying, oh my goodness. There's a part 2 on my channel if you're interested in more, and you can subscribe to be notified when part 3 comes out!
I'm here to explain!! Yay!! First off, in older N64 games, it's not uncommon to have glitches where limbs disappear. Probably due to cartridge tilting or just an error. The red tinge is likely due to either the console overheating or an HSV error. The weird tone is likely that when some games are stuck, they repeat the same sound over and over, whatever sound it was last one will loop. This happens in modern consoles, computers, tvs, etc. Horrifying though. Hope this helps xx
@@cognizant3252 Thanks for the explanation. Anyone who has experience with how finicky those cartridges could be knows that's always the root cause. I think that's why even at 7 years old we just laughed and kinda knew the game fucked up. It was common practice to blow on cartridges to clear them out and having to be careful not to bump anything while its running. It's interesting to learn more specifics!
I would've immediately been possessed and mk ultras secret Japanese subliminal programming would've driven me insane but then I'd forget and 20 years later I'd just have a Mario nightmare but little did I know this game would've affected the grey matter in my hippocampal neurons and forged the way I see the world around me. Just another example of how the devil tries to instil darkness in us

which filter do you mean? the second one sure is, but the first is a masterpiece at covering up details, leaving stuff up to your own imagination man. like i'm DYING to know what was in WDW when he looked to the left but I can't figure out what could possibly be it
Red Dead Rebellion sorry i meant the glitch filter at 4:19. the video itself is a bit creepy but the filter is meh and kinda ruins the creepy atmosphere. that’s my only complaint.
God, I can’t imagine playing games like this without knowing it would go horribly wrong. I’ve always had a uneasy feeling with this type of stuff ever happening to me when I’m playing certain games. Mostly ones that have lower quality.

The real reason Luigi isn't in super Mario 64 is because they didn't need him anymore. Wario was removed from the final version. Luigi had banished him.
Well, Luigi was playable in the earliest builds of mario 64 from around 1993 or 1994, but if they wanted decent levels, they had to remove Luigi in around 1993-1995
@@314rft Luigi eventually found a way to make Wario show us fun while still making it fun for us, but he needed Yoshi's help to do it so they could both still be there for the game.

When I was a kid, I had a dream like this, but it was ocarina of time, lon lon ranch was just gone, the castle town was destroyed because it was adult link, it was nighttime, and there were redeads everywhere, and I couldn't open the pause menu, so I was forced to watch link get squoze by the redeads forever, but every time he was grabbed the scream was completely different and higher quality. And of course, I tried to turn the console off and the colours just got red and dark and the screen got distorted. The name of the location was '?' and the sounds was the sounds that play when you're outside of ganon's castle.
i always have dreams like that. the first one i had was in mario sunshine. i was on the beach in the town and there were redeads everywhere. i could pause the game but only for a short time and the time got shorter and shorter every time i paused it. i couldnt run into the town or turn off the game. i just had to get killed by all of the redeads. a lot of my scary video game dreams are just me fighting a boss and not having the weapons to kill them and not being able to warp out of the room or pause the game. i still have scary redead dreams
15:20 that laugh is a randomly playing audio file on this star, if you wait outside long enough it'll play the audio clip eventually. It's meant to symbolize King Boo's laugh compared to the others. I found that out by accident while I was trying to find a way to the top floor in Mario 64 DS, so I'm pretty sure its in the original game too.
10:14 "Every copy is personalized", so some lucky guy got a free copy of Luigi's Mansion. My uncle's uncle made the one where Luigi gives you a spaghetti heaping of information.
This reminds me of that time I played Mario 64 and whenever I jumped Mario would say"higher daddy"and then when I quit he came out of my tv and killed me while saying to entire script of the bee movie to the melody of all stars. True story I promise Bruh why are people liking this garbage lmao
Here are some secrets I found in the first video. I must say, that one is probably the most elaborate and detailed of the bunch. "ERROR: 65 76 65 72 79 20 63 6F 70 79" is hex code, which says "every copy". This goes for the first three error screens. In the trapped in the endless staircase sequence, for a single frame it says "TURN BACK". It says it again in bigger text shortly after. During the BLJ sequence, it does both again in succession followed by another smaller text saying "PLEASE". In the scene with Bowser, when the screen glitches, it's a bit hard to tell, even in 1080p, but from what I can tell it says "It's time to wake up. Please." in the text box where Bowser usually talks. In the Bob-Omb Battlefield error screen, it's another hex code in noticeably larger text; "ERROR: 77 61 6B 65 20 75 70" which translates to "wake up". I'm sensing a theme here. Throughout most of the sequences, it says something in what I can only assume is Japanese. I can't tell what they're saying, and I could be wrong about the language, but I'm just throwing that out there for anyone who can understand what they're saying. After the title screen glitch "IT'S A MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-" I hear more Japanese. Still can't understand it, especially now that it seems to be fading in- HOLY SHIT THAT IS A BLEEDING BOWSER PAINTING At 3:29 on frame 23, there's something there. I can't tell what it is. At the scene with Mario walking down the street in what I can only assume is Wet-Dry World, during the glitch it says "HELP" in a similar fashion to the previous glitches. Additionally, during the brief segment where the darkness is clearly seen, the wall texture is the same image I couldn't identify, and still can't, from 3:29. As Mario pans the camera over to the left, another secret message, saying "THE FLOOD". See now THAT'S chilling. Shortly after, another one, "SAVE US". These two actually scared me, not gonna lie. Also, on the other side, I cannot for the LIFE of me tell what that is. It looks like a heavily warped Luigi, but I just can't tell for sure. In the second sequence of the "creepy painting fading in" series, we see pretty clearly "The End" in cursive at the bottom of the painting. Interestingly, the music playing seems to be a Mario 64 mix of Super Mario World's Dinosaur Land Map theme. Whatever's on the painting is WAY too dark for me to identify, and I do NOT have the patience to brighten it up- WHO IS CRYING THERE HOLY CRAP THAT IS TERRIFYING
There's so much depth to this, it's terrifying. There are so many warnings within the game to not look into it, to turn back as we start to look for the truth. But, some of the messages are also to wake up, suggesting that that is one of the messages that are hidden within the game that we should not be reaching. It's been suggested that Mario 64 was part of the initiation for the freemasons, and one of the messages in the game is suggesting that we're living in a dream, that our reality is not the true reality, that we should wake up. This is scary stuff, and this runs deep.
The voice clip is at 0:58 . I'm not quite certain exactly what the dialogue is saying, but it's definitely Japanese. I think I can make out what sounds like "Nintendo no Tanoshi wa...," which would roughly mean "Nintendo of fun is..." or "Fun Nintendo is..." Although, it also kind of sounds like "Nintendo no Tanoshime wa..." according to Google Translate, Tanoshime means "enjoy it," so this would be saying "Nintendo is enjoying..." (Japanese doesn't differentiate between past and present tense). I can't understand what the next part is exactly, but it sounds to me like "...yume nai desu." "Yume" is "Dream" and "nai desu" turns the statement into a negative. So, this would roughly translate to "...not a dream" It's possible that this line is saying "Nintendo of fun is not a dream" or, judging by the themes of the rest of the video, "Nintendo is not enjoying the dream." Again, I'm not certain I have the exact words or even if my translation is totally accurate, I've only taken two courses in Japanese and google translate helped me fill out the blanks with the words "Tanoshime" and "Yume," but Google Translate doesn't work well at all with Japanese and often gives you really broken or confusing sentences if you try to translate long sentences through it, so I don't suggest trying to use it to interpret what the entire phrase is saying and instead study up on the language yourself or ask someone who knows Japanese.
@@aurafox1 I've seen other people say that the first message says "The fun of Nintendo never ends" or something and the second being "An error has occurred please restart the console". Definitely seems likely.
I think this is one of the most interesting and neat creepypastas out there. There's so much room for creativity, and I hope more people use it to their advantage
2:36 so, the secret to unlock Luigi is struggling to change to another mission than the 4th mission on Bob-omb Battlefield, reset your console, start in the little town in Wet Dry World, vandalize a house and look to the center of the town. Am I forgetting something?
Everyone knows that a creepypasta born before 2000 can't be scary. All they know is blood, sudden loud noise, scary face flashing on screen, cryptic message, and being found in someone's basement.
@Flower 34 If it exists... Then most likely its like the Rule 34 thing; If it exists then there's most likely a creepy pasta of it.. More specifically a lost episode one
The great thing about this creepypasta is that, unlike say sonic.exe it is actually slightly believable and spooky. Gonna save part 2 of this to watch on Halloween this year
The laughter is actually a real feature. When you’re far away from enemies on the map, there is a chance a laugh will play. EDIT: I’m talking about the Haunted Mansion Map, and it’s just an edited boo’s laugh.

Every copy is personalized, half of us just have the same game. And then a few other people have significantly altered horror games, you just have to get lucky Also I would like these a lot more if there weren't a generic film grain filter over a ton of them, there aren't really any jumpscares and everything else spooky about them are pretty subtle and not cheap, but the random filters on a ton of them are kind of lame. As well as the occasional "The game console wasn't even on but I was playing it oooh"
I swear, this seems like the types of things I’d see in my nightmares- The sudden shift in the atmosphere after it seemed originally fine, the weird noises, everything- I guess to make this more clear (although this comment was most likely unnecessary), I sometimes would have nightmares where I’d be at home playing a game on one of the consoles when things would get suddenly creepy (whether that be through the things around me [objects becoming creepy somehow, the people around me giving off a creepy feeling through crazed looks or something similar, etc.] or what was going on in the game itself [1:12 and 3:46-3:54 especially made me think of it]). The odd thing is that most of the “games” I remember in the nightmares weren’t actually games that I knew about exactly. They’d be a mix of different concepts of games I did know without actually being it. This is most likely a useless comment, most likely I’ll come back to this and delete it eventually, but it’s just a random thing I wanted to say to see if anyone else gets this too or thoughts in general.
I used to have nightmares of super Mario galaxy where I’d be playing the game and my whole system would get thrown off. It’d always end up in my TV exploding.
Every copy of Pilotwings 64 is personalized. There are reports of people seeing the red baron shooting their planes down in plane mode, and seeing those really weird dark, massive buildings that change their shapes (some becoming really bizarre non-euclidean shapes) as you fly near them.

Omg that's terrifying
I've had a dream where I could hear an insanely loud high pitched noise to the point where I had to wake up because it hurt but only in my mind. When I woke up it was still there but for a few seconds that time, however there was no source of the sound. Reminds me of genjustu actually haha.

@@criminalscum1078 i can maybe help collab.
@@cognizant3252 Thanks for the explanation. Anyone who has experience with how finicky those cartridges could be knows that's always the root cause. I think that's why even at 7 years old we just laughed and kinda knew the game fucked up.
Still can't understand it, especially now that it seems to be fading in- HOLY SHIT THAT IS A BLEEDING BOWSER PAINTING
At 3:29 on frame 23, there's something there.
So, this would roughly translate to "...not a dream"
It's possible that this line is saying "Nintendo of fun is not a dream" or, judging by the themes of the rest of the video, "Nintendo is not enjoying the dream." Again, I'm not certain I have the exact words or even if my translation is totally accurate, I've only taken two courses in Japanese and google translate helped me fill out the blanks with the words "Tanoshime" and "Yume," but Google Translate doesn't work well at all with Japanese and often gives you really broken or confusing sentences if you try to translate long sentences through it, so I don't suggest trying to use it to interpret what the entire phrase is saying and instead study up on the language yourself or ask someone who knows Japanese.
@@aurafox1 I've seen other people say that the first message says "The fun of Nintendo never ends" or something and the second being "An error has occurred please restart the console". Definitely seems likely.
@@diacosiapentacontahex That seems likely. It's pretty close excluding the obvious Google Translate reliance on my end.

I swear, this seems like the types of things I’d see in my nightmares- The sudden shift in the atmosphere after it seemed originally fine, the weird noises, everything-
I guess to make this more clear (although this comment was most likely unnecessary), I sometimes would have nightmares where I’d be at home playing a game on one of the consoles when things would get suddenly creepy (whether that be through the things around me [objects becoming creepy somehow, the people around me giving off a creepy feeling through crazed looks or something similar, etc.] or what was going on in the game itself [1:12 and 3:46-3:54 especially made me think of it]).
