We had 28,000 My Maps pins added to a custom map for a business and tracked the impact of this on their local rankings over a 3 month period.
On Fiverr they claim My Maps will benefit businesses by:

The results: No impact on rankings.
The recommendation: Save yourself the money. Google My Maps citations will not help your business rank better in search results.

It’s not a ranking tool….it’s a map tool. It will make a business more visible in an area when searched via map. Only one pin is registered but I’ve seen businesses pop up miles away from site over closer competitors
I can make any map for anyone on Google my maps look just like this with actual pins and map directions pointing to the same business is just seconds. This is exactly what they are doing!!!!! Hello!!!! Then send you a copy take a pic of it or share actual data directly to you.. only thing is it's just cached and stored in Google servers for only one person's profile 😂... It's not a live thing. Not index, only real to the person that made it... It's like similar to creating your own private trip on a Garmin, or using maps to make a trip or add stops on a trip then sharing it to someone. Similar to sharing your location or sharing directions. It's just an entire private map (they created for free on Google my maps) that's shared ... As long as that person has space on there Google drive the map link will always be there. But it's not on the Internet published.. it's a real map just for one person who's sharing it. Hope that makes sense people!!!

Are you sure? because I think it worked for me. I have tried the map citation service 2 times and both of the times I saw a little boost in the ranking. I am not 100% sure that the ranking was improved because of map citation or not but I saw the improvements after taking this service

As you said - you did multiple changes - you have no ability to know what created the improvement.
It's why isolated testing is great, it highlights what is just charlatanism

I was under the impression, it is suppose to make you more visible in your local or extended area on google map, not "rankings".

Since Shaw Electrical is a dummy google listing you have, does it even have a website? As it only had 1 (5 Star review) what were you expecting LOL its a completely dead and useless listing. For a running business you'd have at least 5-10 5star reviews a website and social media pages and what not which help with this. I'm a business owner myself considering buying this but this was a pretty pathetic take on Google Map Citations.
Yeah, i've seen it work in some cases although it is very much a Grey Hat technique and may even become Black Hat as Google becomes more clear about what it does not want to see. There is absolutely more to it though.

The citations work. Not the pins.
But if you get citation pins on the map with Google stacking links and geotagged images uploaded to each point, then get 6 reviews on each photo, you will rank #1. This is a secret tip so don’t tell anyone.

There isn’t a shortcut. All you can do is continue building your SEO. More content on your website, more reviews, more links to your website. And eventually you’ll hit a wall anyway. There is just only so far google will rank a business locally. You can try to target other areas in the organic results with city pages, or, pay to rank with Google Local Ads.

@@sammalick4968 There is no way that this method would work long term. Google is most likely able to test the validity of citations, and having thousands of citations randomly pop up in the span of a few days is a big red flag. I wouldn't be surprised if your rankings tanked and you got penalized by Google.

This needs more testing with real businesses that then embed it somewhere useful, I think you've jumped the gun here and don't really have sufficient data at all.

You are right bro. Google my maps pin won't help to get rank because none of them will be indexed if we point millions of pins though. Only one, the main link may be indexed, sometimes not. This service really looks funny to me though I am a freelancer.
