hi Tom. another great video. I'm going to try this out. I have a device that plugs into the accy connector under the seat. It frequently loses its connection while riding. I was thinking about calling the guy I bought it from. Maybe there is an issue with it. I like the looks of this so I'll give it a go. I'll let you know how I like it. Besides the startup power, having the adapter under the seat is a signal challenge at times, being as close to the infotainment system helps. BUT the system overall is still buggy!
Bluetooth is impacted by other Bluetooth connections but more so WIFI connections. If you have WIFI turned on in the bike, assuming you are not using it for weather or traffic I would turn it off. Remember even with a wired connection if the headset drops, CarPlay drops. Having the adapter under the seat is a challenge for a BT Signal as it is surrounded by power and the ECM / BCM. I think you will have better luck with an adapter in the cubby / tray vs under the seat. I tried a few different adapters under the seat with the heated gear. I ended up with this UGreen option: amzn.to/40I902Y which worked really well, really never lost CarPlay with it BUT I had 2 or 3 other samples that vendors gave me that dropped frequently under the sear.
Everything started up good. Now I can not get my volume to change, the volume is set low and will only go lower. Regardless of change to volume on my iPhone or bike controller. Any ideals on what to do or a change that I may have done? Thanks and your channel has great info

YES! The only way to use Navigation with an Android phone is to invest in an AI box and using Android Auto. See this video: ruclips.net/video/5ZStEbXO52o/видео.html
Ah, if you don't want to talk to the system you can use this to have music and nav prompts through the speakers without having to bring / charge a headset.
iPhone 15 and newer are USB C now. So for an older phone you would need to use the USB C to lightning cable. amzn.to/4hHmthr I believe the iPhone 14's come with this cable.
No! This will not work for Android auto by itself. You would need an AI box in addition as the new system does not support Android Auto. See this video: Android Auto for the New Harley Davidsons by ONINCE ruclips.net/video/5ZStEbXO52o/видео.html
I see where the confusion is from the Amazon description, it will work for Android Auto IF the infotainment system supports it, which the Harley system does not! They note this in the description, “Infotainment system must support wired or wireless CarPlay or Android Auto that requires a paired wireless headset. Device does not convert wired CarPlay or Android Auto to wireless but only presents as a headset for this requirement.” I have asked them to change the Android reference. If you have a motorcycle that does support Android Auto it would work.
MaedHawk has responded and will update the description to avoid further confusion but it is Harley that is not supporting Android Auto and the adapter will work for manufacturers that do. Please consider removing the review, I am trying to support their efforts with this adapter as it is an excellent option to avoid the headset requirement.
Remember this solution is targeted for the new infotainment system and not the older Boom. For the Boom system you would need to have the WHIM installed for the Bluetooth connection BUT you really do not need a headset adapter you need the CarPlay Jumper or I have seen it work with a wired headset for those that have the 5 DIN headset plug in the center console.
@ITFZone thank you. What's funny is that flat cable you suggested. I got the A-to-C one and was just checking to make sure it charges my phone since I like it better. My Android Auto comes right up just using that cable. Of course, if I unplug the cable, it goes off. So it makes it wired, but it seems since I have Android Auto on my phone and use Android Auto in my truck, for some reason, it works with just that cable.
On the older Boom system you do not have a headset requirement for Android Auto BUT the bike does not support a wireless headset. So with a good quality USB cable that supports data you would have wired Android Auto or CarPlay. But my understanding is like the new infotainment system CarPlay requires a headset so you have to purchase the WHIM or use that CarPlay jumper to fool it.
How does this option do for reliability? I had one plug in that cutout alot, then got an underseat one which works much better but 1/10 times will cut off and just not work. Hoping this is reliable and also curious if you going to wired only makes it more reliable. I always plug mine up so might be something i’d consider trying.
I have been using this adapter, a prototype version for about 3 months over the summer, I have never seen it drop. BUT I have seen where CarPlay would not launch at least a few times. I think this is more the infotainment system than the headset. If you have CarPlay on the screen and it goes away that is generally the headset. Now Bluetooth signals are impacted the environment, WIFI signals can cause a lot of interference. I would turn OFF the bikes WIFI if you have that on.
No you would need an AI Box to get Android Auto on the new Harley's. See my video here: ruclips.net/video/5ZStEbXO52o/видео.html However this adapter will work as a headset for an AI adapter if needed.
Depends on your CVO, this setup will only work with the new 12.7" screen infotainment system 23.5 CVO's and 24 CVO's, Street and Road Glides. While it will pair as a headset with the older BOOM systems you still need the WHIM module or CarPlay jumper.
It works as a headset connection for any system that needs one BUT your system must support Android Auto or use an AI Box. A lot of confusion with this stuff thanks to Harley’s setup.
No, you can use this with an AI box or a system that supports Android Auto but requires a headset. Unfortunately the Harley system does not support AA. See my video on the AI box option.
@@ITFZone so you can use this with the Onince (sp) box???? Just plug in and pair the Maedhawk with the bike. Then hook up the Onince, then pair the phone to the AI box????? I'm currently using the heated adapter extension cable under the seat to the Tender to micro to the Green thing. It works but as you say if you delay in starting the bike, everything resets and I have to start over, shut the bike down wait then restart. If I try out this I still like the idea of having another usb plug in case I need one.
Correct, you can use this new adapter and then connect the AI box to the USB C passthrough. You will have much better luck. Anything tied to the ignition causes the AI box to not connect on the first attempt and once it fails it will never reconnect until you power cycle the bike again.
@@ITFZone but if you look for it in harley-davidson parts it doesn't exist. Do you know if it is the same as the 2024? and if it will work on the ST 2024 specifically?
Yes they will work with the CVO ST. I don't believe the part is VIN locked since the ST is a CVO. Your local parts counter can help you here. I suspect we will see the illuminated option for all of the new bikes after the first of the year when the '25's are announced.

@@ITFZone good deal then, I'll put my order in.....
Hi, Tom. I'm not sure if the handle controls on your bike are lighted, is that correct?
The CVO's come with lighted hand controls...
Hey Tom,
With this adapter, will my carplay work wirelessly or does my phone need to be plugged into the adapter?
Either way! Your phone will prompt if you would like to enable wireless CarPlay or continue with USB.
@@ITFZone great! Thanks for confirming!
I'm having problems finding it for my 2003 Road King. 😮
lol! Enjoy the freedom of no stereo. I often miss my carbureted 2003!
Hey Tom
Is this only for the 23.5-24 only?
Thanks
Without the WHIM or CarPlay jumper you cannot use CarPlay on the older Boom System. So yes you would only need this for the new Infotainment systems.
What about for android users?

Thank you! Thank you!
Great video as always. When is Harley going to release a new software update? It’s been awhile….
I agree! There has been nothing all summer. Harley has had a history of updates in January but who knows. I keep checking!
