Same here, until about a year ago, when I found the Nick Cave - Boys Next Door version. The Divine Fits version live on KEXP is even better than their studio version.

I like this song more than the original.
I'm usually the first one to say that I find CB excruciating. However, I actually love this cover - its not about the words and her lyrics, its how she sings it...its meant to be down-beat and sad. I think the guitar is beautiful with the tremolo and I don't care if its only two chords.
