Hi Don, a new one for me. I'm definitely gonna have to listen again w/lyrics pulled up. I felt as if there was a subtext that I wasn't quite getting. I think this song maybe deeper than it seemed on the surface but then again could be me looking for something that isn't there. Thanks Don and Nathan for introducing me to a new song.----#UTRCM

I always thought this song was pretty to listen to but didn't pay much attention to it. When they get it into high folk singing gear, I can't understand some of the words. Reading the lyrics, the story is incomplete and doesn't say much. I can't sing along. Not a favorite.

This is a great duet. I do remember John Denver's music from the 1970s. It's interesting how he was never really accepted into the country music fold, yet he did some great country music. Without folk music, country music wouldn't exist. John Denver is in my music collection. May he rest in peace. I'm in Alberta, but I've never been to Montana. Some of my siblings have been there. One day I'd like to go there. Cheers! ✌️

This is the best male/female duet ever done., their voices and style are so unique but yet compliment each other.

Hands down spot on. George Jones with whoever he sang don't come close.

Try "Like a Lion in the Winter" with Hoyt Axton and Linda Ronstadt.

Hi Don spot with your rating. I love Emmylou singing harmony not so much as a solo. Great reaction to a song I never heard

Been a John Denver fan my whole life. Always loved this song. It's also a helluva lot of fun to play on guitar, especially a 12-string.
Would love to see you react to "Promises in Pieces" by Jason Eady or "One More Goodbye" by Randy Rogers Band.

A beautiful song. Emmylou Harris has such a clean, clear voice, and it matched well with John Denver. The image of the album cover took me by surprise, though; John Denver dressed like Elton John?
This would be a good time for you to look into the Canadian folk/country singer Gordon Lightfoot. Everybody is familiar with 'Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald,' 'Sundown,' and 'If You Could Read My Mind,' but he has a much deeper catalog. Songs like 'Rainbow Trout,' 'Canadian Railroad Trilogy,' 'The Pony Man,' and 'All the Lovely Ladies,' which is a particular favorite of mine, along with the haunting 'Cherokee Bend.'
By the way: I estimate realistically that I have about 1200 songs memorized, so I'm no0t going to run out of suggestions any time soon. I really appreciate the songs that you've done from my requests already. Don't forget to try Vern Gosdin's 'Break My Mind,' and the comedy recording 'The Gear-Jammer and the Hobo' with Red Sovine and Johnny Bond. Nat Stuckey had a couple of fun ones: ;Don't Pay the Ransom' and 'Buddy I Lied.' You'll never run out of material.

Hey Don, I know I've heard this song before but I didn't grasp the lyrics. As you say the headphones make a difference, and I found it a whole new experience. I do like John Denver as well, and I'm a huge Emmylou fan. I agree completely with your ideas about if she had taken the lead in this one, seems like an opportunity missed. However, still a lovely song and I enjoyed it immensely. Thanks Nathan for a great request, and Don for another wonderful reaction!

I'm late...what else is new? I first heard this song by John Denver (solo) off of "Poems, Prayers & Promises (I think) and loved the song. When I saw that Emmylou was going to sing with him as a duet, I was hesitant. Mainly because both singers have such unique voices. I like John's solo version better - not because I don't like Emmylou - but because I love Emmylou. I agree Don, that perhaps if Emmylou had had some solo verses of her own, it could have been better. Still, a beautiful song. Thanks for the reaction!

Silly goose! Don't you know that Emmylou has a unique power that lets her duet with absolutely anyone? No, seriously. She can sing with anyone.
