  • This is a review of my Ketone Meter amzn.to/3rNDWMd that I bought on Amazon for $49, to monitor my Ketosis levels through out the day. Is it worth the money? Watch the video to find out!
Update: This meter is not as accurate as my current Ketone meter, the Ketonix, you can see my review here • KETONIX Bluetooth Brea... And you can buy the Ketonix directly from manufacture's website: www.ketonix.com/

@Li Reviews I've had one for a couple years (slightly different design but close enough to know it's just an older model of the same meter). I go carnivore every now and then and 1 meal a day (aka OMAD) as well. - (the first time I did that I went from 208lbs to 188 lbs in one month). The rest of the time I just eat normally (but no sweets/sugar). Whenever I return to carnivore OMAD the meter takes a few days to read any keytone level and, until I actually get into ketosis, it gives me a couple short beeps while I'm blowing and reads 0,0 but once I get into keto it gives a long buzzer while I'm blowing and then it gives me a reading, I usually get a 2.6 to 3.9 but if I stay carnivore OMAD (i.e. just 400 gm of ground beef and 100 gm cheddar cheese per day) it'll give me reading of +5 or +6 and if I still stay OMAD carnivore I've gone as high as 9.6 - I believe that at that point, although I'm burning some ketones that, due to lack of sufficient food intake, I also start to burn my body's muscle tissue and I can't afford to lose much muscle (I'll be 82 years old in March). Anytime now that the meter window starts showing a bit of orange behind the green, (it does that at around 4), I eat a big chunk of homemade bread that I've cooked up and keep frozen until I need some carbs to lower my ketone level.
All in all, I'm very happy with my meter. If you're unsatisfied with your meter, I'd suggest you just keep trying daily and then, one day when you get a reading, don't eat anything and 30 minutes later take another reading and maybe another 30 minutes and another reading - I'd say that if you get three consecutive close reading within an hour or two (without eating anything in between) then I'd say your meter is probably working and you're just getting the two short beeps and a reading of 0.0 because '''''''you weren't in ketosis'''' Oh yeah! you do have to keep blowing all the time while the buzzer is going which is about 5 or 6 seconds, if you stop halfway through the buzzer, I don't know what it'll read.
I know this has been long but I'd like to add one thing. The reason I go carnivore OMAD periodically is because I suffer liver pain almost continuously while I'm on a normal hi-carb diet but when I go carnivore OMAD (zero carbs), within a couple days the pain in my right side (liver??) ceases. I believe I've got 'fatty liver disease'. I used to be a drinker but I went on the wagon in Sept of 1976 and haven't drank since but I was an alcoholic and I believe my years of drinking damaged my liver and I'm paying for it now. If anyone else has almost continuous pain in the liver area, I'd suggest they try a strict carnivore diet for at least a week just to see. I t won't hurt you and might do a lot of good.

Lorne McRae, the beauty about our livers is their ability to regenerate themselves. I don’t think your liver is still damaged from your younger years of alcohol use and has probably replaced itself entirely by now. I think it is critical to embrace a moderation mindset and patience with an aged body that is naturally declining in performance and the ability to bounce back quickly. The more extreme things we do to an aged body over time we run the risk of the warranty completely running out and the body part or system shutting down completely. This opinion is based upon my observation and listening to the stories of many seniors over the years. I also can attest to this even though I’m not as old as you. At the age of 67 I find my body is quick to react to something it hasn’t acclimate to or something it doesn’t like (it’s not as tolerant or forgiving as it was when I was younger) but slow to recover and get back to peak performance, which is always lower than when I was younger. To live optimally as seniors, living a life of balance, moderation, spreading out healthy practices through out the day, patience and realism gives us our best life. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about using bio and health hacks to improve myself but I use it with the filter of the stage of life I am in.

Keto is wonderful, once you get into good habit of avoiding carbs and keep fat intake high, you probably don't even need a meter.

Good review. Got one of these... works fine. In fact I think for the money it's pretty good and will save a fortune on test strips.

The thing I don't understand with this is mmol/L is used for blood, not the breath. Because ketones in the breath are measured by Acetone, so you would use PPM to track that. So I don't really know what they're measuring with mmol/L.

Probably an extrapolated number based on the acetone PPM

They packed way too many if you are just using it yourself you don't need to take out and switch the plastic piece,I believe it's for clinic setting where there are multiple users

I purchased this after your review. It worked once but now it doesn’t make a long beep ever and keeps showing 0’s. Any tips to reset it?

Probably a defective unit, these things are not very well build.. maybe return for a refund or exchange? Mine also sometimes doesn't beep or takes long to get into measuring mode

Never tried, it might, but readings would be wildly inaccurate.
